What's the fastest you've ever driven on public roads
>no lying on the internet addition
140mph in my wife's 2007 M3 when I was taking it home for the first time
>>13922362
145mph in rich friend's C300. Hit 140 in the thing a few different times.
120ish in my Miata on the highway.
The stupidest was probably 90mph one night in my old Malibu on a main road next to my house. Goes right by a school with a police and fire station maybe a mile down the road.

Did you make that run using premium fuel only?

Hey, I want to know what kinds of problems come with converting a Front wheel drive car into a Rear wheel drive car? Other than the fact that converting a ff car to rwd turbo is probably very expensive. Would it be easy to mess up any wiring or anything? Because, I want to have my civic hatch (image is not mine but is same kind) to be able to drift. Thanks for the responses. P.S. Please don't flame me I am young and I am still learning.
>>13922118
>wiring
ahahhhaaahaahaahahahaha
Is this pasta?
>>13922118
Well, you'd need to change the motor and transmission
and cutting, welding
it's not worth it unless you're doing a ridiculous $50,000+ build
infact the only time I've heard of a legit FF to FR conversion was a beefed up Scion xB on Top Gear America as some taxi challenge, and that was a $100,000 build..
Is it really that prevalent? I remember taking my cars into a Meineke for random shit in undergrad, and it seemed like they alway followed up the consultation with one or two more issues. I was young and dumb so I didn't bother getting second opinions and ended up paying for shit I might not have needed. How often do you think this happens? How do you know if your auto repairman is putting one over on you?
>>13921900
I think most are honest, but want to make money so they'll so jobs that aren't urgent, but will make money.
Fluids would be a good example.
>>13921978
But how can you tell? Just by educating yourself? Shit's expensive.
>>13921978
Or filters.
For me it's:
>Rear Mounted Turbo's
They are for either the lazy and broke or people with engine bays that are too small to fit a properly mounted turbo. They are in no way better than a regular turbo and WILL make less power than a conventional system that is closer to the engine.

Trying to decide between a new Volt and a used ELR. Both are 34k. I want something efficient that isn't a fucking Prius.
Volt has room for my large dog. I travel with the dog maybe one time every other month. We have another car that she'd fit in better.
ELR is much better looking and far more premium.
My commute is 65 miles in a day, so I should be able to do fully electric in either. New Volt obviously gets better range.
ELR has depreciated pretty far. Volt has not.
What do, /o/? Only other thing I've considered is a CT200h.
get an i3
>>13921572
You can probably get a brand new ELR off the lot for that much after the tax credits. 7500+your state, so probably 9k total. They just aren't selling. Why pay 50k for an ELR when you can pay the same and get a slightly used Tesla? Or if you can only just afford that, why buy it when you can get a Prius that does the same thing for 1/3rd of the cost?
Christ can those windows get any smaller on the ELR? That just looks fucking ridiculous, what a disgrace to the Cadillac name.
What do you think /o/?

Why are nissan designers so absolutely terrible these days? The only good looking vehicles are the 370z, q50, and GTR.
Need help picking out some tires for my commuter car.
I dont know a damn thing about tires that dont go on trucks/suvs so bare with me.
I live in California so All-Seasons are fine, where im at it rains maybe 2 weeks out of the year, no snow, and sun the rest of the year.
I dont remember the exact dimensions but my wheels are 13"s.
Just need some names i can rely on that are offered at Les Schwab or Firestone.
Sears was my 1st choice but they dont cary anything under 15"s.
Car is an 82 Corolla btw.
Pic related the wheels of my car
Guys, i dont want to buy some cheapo tires
>>13921379
Price range?
It's hard to find any good tires in a 13".
They are all going to be economy tires.
BTW I'm the same guy that's helped you with everything.
Because I care about your corolla
Go to discount tire and put on what they recommend. I've always went with Michelin for all season tires and I think they are pretty good. If you have no weather at all, a summer tire will have more performance oriented advantages than all seasons.
my car doesn't have any mud guards/flaps, should I just go with rallyarmor? they seem a bit pricey but reviews say they're supposed to last forever
>>13921310
I know that feel anon
>>13921310
Except that they are flexible- you need to be careful when backing up. Snow / deep grass / mud can push them up against the tire and rip them off.
There are other brands like rokblokz that aren't floppy and are cheaper as well.
>>13921437
Rallyarmor sells hard plastic "universal" ones, as well as the floppy urethane ones.
I have a set of the cheapo RAs on my Dart.
They're great, very tough, but you still have to be careful when backing into a space, as the hard plastic ones are more likely to break their mountings than tear off. It's somewhat satisfying to hear them scrape on the pavement in hard cornering and dips, knowing it's not my car's body doing it. Works when parallel parking too. They're like really douchey curb feelers.
>mfw someone says driving manual is too hard
>mfw they say automatic in fine
>mfw they say stop-and-go traffic is annoying in a manual
>mfw I still can't properly engine brake without getting jerking
also when is the best time to shift if you're trying to get max acceleration? near the redline or somewhere 1/2-3/4 to the redline?
>>13921131
depends on the engine
>>13921131
Depends per car. If you had a dyno, id say run it to redline and see where your power drops off. From there, look at your gearing to see when to shift where it will put you right before peak HP when you change gears. That's when you should shift.
>>13921131
i dont know what engine braking is
I've been driving the same zx3 Focus for 10 years, so this Saturday I decided to splurge a little and bought a 2015 Fiesta ST.
I spent the week prior test driving various other cars, mostly in the hatchback category because I love them. I tested the Fiesta ST and Focus ST, Mini S, Fiat Abarth, Golf, and an FRS just for giggles. The Fiesta ST blew them all out of the water in fun factor and had some great rebates, so now it's sitting in my garage.
My question is this, what are your favorite cars of the last 10 years that are in the neighborhood of 25k? Pic related, my new toy.
>>13920974
I've got a JCW Clubman that I enjoy quite a bit.

No Veloster turbo? It's cheaper, faster, better on gas, and a better warranty. It's better in every single way.
