Is keeping your vehicle stock one of the major keys to long-term reliability? Are majority of vehicles at their pinnacle with factory specifications?
No and No

Some systems can be upgraded on most cars with literally no downsides.
Example - upgrading the cooling system with a larger radiator made from better materials.

Someone will pay £10,000 for this and ruin it
Hello anons I recently got a well paying job as a dermatologist, and I was looking to restore an old sports car and hop it up to be a lot faster. what would a good sports car to restore be?
>>13928199
Restoring a car takes a large investment of time and money. You should pick something you love so you're comfortable putting so much into it.
>old sports car
>hop it up to be a lot faster
Read some build threads so you can see what's involved with this kind of project before you start shopping.
>>13928199
Old jag
>>13928199
being a car restorer as a project will ruin your "doctors hands" it would be far easier to pay somebody else to do the hard work for you. also car choice comes down to it as well. some cars were absolutely terrible the biggest example is the MGB midget. many werent very rust proofed at the factory well so got eaten by rust thats if the lucas electricals werent giving up the ghost. pick a car you like and read about their common faults before you consider purchase older jaguars are simmilar too except for the wire wheels. if you get them the wrong way around they used to have a habit of unscrewing themselves while the car is moving you can guess the rest
Why are these still a thing? I know they are used to keep university students occupied. But this same design has been used for two decades now.
Picture is from this year's FIA Alternative Energies Cup. For some reason they got to race at Suzuka, all expenses paid.

Why do people build high horsepower cars but never dyno it? That's like trying to lose weight but never going on the scale
>>13928109
Ignorance is bliss. Besides its better than being bench racing number faggots
high horsepower cars have all been dyno'd
it's the only reliable way to tune them unless you have off the shelf kits.
>>13928155
>tfw so many tried and true combos to get 450 rampaging stallions from a 440.
>tfw you are going to a 543 build and everything will be near custom specs.
>Cheapest Dynapro dyno is 75/pull for tuning.
It will be worth it but still....
>tfw no car looks like this
>tfw driving gloves are supposed to be bad

What's the cheapest way to make a Ford Mustang v6 actually sound "good" and not just necessarily louder??
Sell it and buy a V8.

>he has a mustang v6
By getting a GT

What do you think of them all?
Pic related: Everyone's favorite Canadian car, the Multimatic Motorsport Ford GT is doing well.

That exhaust note is fucking horrific. I know the V6 is proven and all but fuck. It better pull off a win on an international scale. When was the last time Multimatic won at something that wasn't a national series?
hly shit that corvette sounds like someone farting
Glad I don't have to hate these cars anymore.
Can someone tell me what this belt is called / what it's for ?
It's squeaking fairly loudly.
Looks like the serpentine belt. Can you get a better, more encompassing picture ?
>>13927501
Certainly
Give me a moment.
>>13927497
looks like a serpentine m8. probably just a bad fit, or wear.
Here is my points why

ITT: Highest speeds ever achieved in a motor vehicle by /o/
This is a search to find which one of us has driven at the fastest speed
Add as many details of your hyperdrive experience as you can i.e.: what car, time, location, road conditions, special circumstances, passengers, etc.
Since I am OP, I will set the bar extremely low.
Top speed: 105 mph in 2000 Honda Accord sedan with my brother in the passenger seat during 7 am rush hour traffic on loop 410 in San Antonio, TX

What do you think of drifting?
It has been suggested that drifters (from the early 90s to now) are just what hot rodders of the 60s and 70s have evolved into.
What do you think of the popularity of professional drifting (Formula D of the USA, D1 GP of Japan and Drift Allstars of Europe)?
I dont care about leagues or any of that shit but drifting is goat for fun
Good use of wrecked exotic cars.
As a judgable sport? It's retarded and attracts the worst crowds. It's not a motorsport it's just hooning. The fact that two cars "race" at the same time completely baffles me. it's basically moster jam.
If they went one at a time and were judged only on how fully sick the drifts LOOKED rather than any "measurable" criteria I would have less of a problem with it.
For fun? Yeah, it's great, people have been doing it since the car was invented. If you want to rip a skid I say go for it.
So how am I supposed to brake in manuals? Brake and clutch in as I'm about to stop? Downshift + brake? Neutral and brake? Why is there no consensus on such a simple thing?
>>13927076
All of the above depending on situation
>>13927087
