How much do you earn and what's the max you would be willing to spend to buy a car?

Household income of 60k

Buying one for 50-60 next year.

Most I've spent so far was 20k, have always bought used. I'm 24 and it will be my 8th car. This will be my first new purchase.

I've always argued buying used, and still say it's the better way to go. I want a vehicle that I know exactly what's happened to it for it's whole life since it got off the lot. No rattles caused by somebody's Mickey mouse fix, no scratches from people setting shit on the roof, etc.

I created a bike entirely on mspaint as you can see.

I know I'm missing a lot of things on it.

Feedbacks are widely welcome.

(It's on PNG format so you can give a custom color if you have mspaint or are on windows)

Little background....I am downsizing my life and buying an RV and will be pulling a manual transmission vehicle behind with all four wheel on the ground. Upon searching over that last few weeks, I have come across some interesting vehicles and would like /o/'s advice, etc.

1990 Toyota Hilux Surf Turbo Diesel 5-Speed (Japanese Import)

1980 International Harvester Scout II Turbo Diesel 4-Speed

2000 Subaru Forester S Lifted

and few other Subaru's and Toyota's.

My questions are: How readily available are parts for each, are they good investments and my budget is $5000 max.

I will answer any questions and post links if need be, etc.

Not sure about all your question. But I can tell you that Subaru OEM parts are phased out pretty quickly. What is available on the market is made in china, with questionable quality.
>>
>>17700646
I have never worked on a Subaru before....are they easy to work on? Since parts are of questionable quality, would you suggest this Subaru I found in my search?

The boxer engine makes it not easy to replace bougie. Timing belt, water pump replacement parts are not made anymore by Subaru. Power steering (ghost steer) problems is difficult to fix, people just junk this car at this point.

That car on craigslist has an engine swap, you really want to buy someone else hobby project?

Just signed up for Progressive's Snapshot program. Here is my plan:

>put it on my dd as insured
>drive my project car almost every day instead to minimize miles
>when I do drive the dd, drive 5mph under the limit, gentle braking, grandma it, hate myself

Any advice? Who has experience with their system?

hmm I never thought about this. Are the cost changes significant? I'd be tempted to put it in my truck. I drive that thing like a grandpa everywhere when I do drive it.
>>
>>17691578
Holy shit, that thing would fuck me.
I'd immediately go on their list as someone who should pay the highest premiums possible.
My ticket record is spotless, and my accident record nearly so, but I bet they pay much more attention to daily speed and braking.

Is 4wd+manual transmission overkill? Seen a lot of people say you don't need 4wd with manual.

4WD was godly in winter where I lived when I had my Trailblazer but if we're not talking snow, ice and stupid inclines on a daily basis it's kinda useless.
Then again you can go in icy mountains with anything. My dad has a construction company so I've done my commute in winter with a fucking RWD van with 0 weight on the rear wheels. It's just way scarier (and fun) because you don't do a constant 30-40 up the hill but rather floor it on the evener parts and slide left to right like a motherfucker to the top.

Those are winter tires, which will wear down extremely quick in summer temperatures.

If you're considering used tires, you shouldn't be owning a car in the first place.

Hey /o/ what kind of car will best help me attract older women? I'm 21 years old. I know the obvious answer is probably a restored classic American muscle car and I like those but don't have the time or know-how to maintain it. So I was thinking instead I might could get a new Dodge Challenger. Thoughts?

That may be a good car but it looks like your average shitbox, probably impossible to find something like that in good condition too. I'm also not looking to repel girls my own age, I just want to attract cougar attention in particular
>>
>>17702915
>what kind of car will best help me attract older women?
None. Women don't care about frivilous shit like what car you drive. They care about your personality/looks how you treat them, and if you have your life together or not. If you're an unappealing fatass ugly NEET with no money or life goals, you're going to stay alone.

Work on yourself instead of looking for a shortcut.

What the fuck is the obsession with making supercars fuel efficient?

>people don't use them every day so fuel consumption is irrelivant
>less than 0.000000001% of the population owns them so CO2 output is irrelivant
>people don't try and drive 600 miles uninterrupted in a supercar so range is unimportant

Fair enough I could understand people complaining about the fuel consumption in a V10 BMW 5 Series, a car that is supposed to be usable, but in a Ferrari or a Porsche? Seriously grow the fuck up. By putting bullshit turbos and hybrid motors in everything you ruin the engines sound and response.

This is also an opportunity to remind you all that the LS motor is 20 years old, yet is still more powerful and fuel efficient than any of the turbocharged shit coming out of Europe.

TL;DR I want a new car. Is the 4 series GC a good choice for a family with 2 small kids?

I'm 28 and I drive a boring ass VAN, I want something fun, that I can take out for a spin on the weekends, but at the same time I want things to stay practical. The 4GC is a hatchback (low lip, easy to load stuff), and the boot is decent (480l, we don't use the stroller anymore so it should be enough). I don't care about the rear seat space, kids are still in their seats and my wife sits in the front. I'm looking at a maxed 430i. Thoughts?

I've been also eyeing the new 5 series, the interior is much nicer, but it's not as fun to drive. I've been also drooling over the new 6 GT (big fan, despite the hate it gets), but it's just too expensive, especially when decently specced. 3GT is great space-wise, but I don't like the styling that much. I don't want an SUV (I'd take a Macan Turbo if I could afford one), and I don't want a wagon either. Mercedes doesn't tickle me in the right places, Audi's are everywhere, Volvo although great looking, are boring to drive. Seems like the 4GC is the way to go, right?
