Why didn't they ever put a diesel engine in the Niva?
What is lighter: a larger wheel with a thinner tire, or a smaller wheel with a thicker wheel? Same overall diameter.
>>15737314
Rubber is heavier than carbon fiber / allpy
>>15737314
>thicker wheel
Thicker tire fug
Also wondering if there is a significant difference in weight between tires
>>15737314
Depends on wheel and tyre.
Dumbass question.
What are your thoughts on upcoming Tesla Model 3?
>>15737176
Tesla enthusiasts gave it a poor reception: it's a sedan instead of a hatchback like the Model 3, and nobody likes the dash layout with the instrument display on the center screen. Tesla enthusiasts really just want a cheaper, lighter-weight, better-handling Model 3, but like the Model X, Tesla is going overboard on shit nobody cares about or actively dislikes.

Sounds more like they are butthurt that their $100k cars with interior built quality of a honda accord will get brand-diluted when this thing launches
>>15737176
>nobody know what's in it
>400k cars premiered
yeah it'll pretty much crush all competition.
I can see all other manufacturers stop creating fucking E-tron and go with actual electric cars pretty much as soon as 2018

Would you rather have 2 good stock cars or 1 car with $1000 to spend on upgrades ?
>>15736947
2 twingos > 1 modified Veyron
1 car with $1000 to spend on the inevitable maintenance
>>15736953
Assuming the other car is maintained well and it would to a suspension system, dos that t all change the answer ?

" The new Kia Rio will offer motorists a modern new cabin design, featuring sculptural forms and a more ergonomic layout than its predecessor.
Like the exterior, straight lines running the width of the dashboard characterize the shape of the interior, giving the cabin a wider appearance and increasing the sense of space for occupants.
The dashboard itself is now angled towards the driver, and at its center is a new infotainment system, a 'floating' HMI (human-machine interface), with a high-resolution touchscreen to power the Rio's audio, navigation and new connectivity systems. The new HMI has allowed Kia to reduce the number of buttons on the center console.
The new Kia Rio is available with a choice of black or grey cloth seat upholstery, or with black or grey artificial leather. A 'Red Pack' for the Rio gives buyers black with red artificial leather-trimmed seats throughout the cabin. The cabin itself features gloss black and metallic trim throughout, for a more modern finish. "

Hey /o/ I was recently given a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage for free completely stock, looks exactly like the one in this photo, I already have a daily driver and don't see and point in boosting this car, so it is pretty much a second car. I was wondering what you would do with this car?
It has only around 100k on it and maintenance is kept up. I was thinking cold air intake, bumper stickers, maybe the exhaust.
>>15735909
Makes for a great daily as is. Possibly better on fuel and indestructible to boot stock if it's got a 4G15. There's a fair bit of shit that can be done with the 4G15. Have a read through this;

If the urge to rice is too strong do it up like a VII GT-A.
>>15735909
Probably sell it imo, I doubt I'd drive it enough to justify keeping it around seeing as I already have an econobox and a motorcycle.
You could swap in a 4G63 and make it a sleeper if you really wanted to spend money on it.

So thinking about getting a Focus. Is the RS really worth a $10k price jump or could I get an ST and upgrade parts and it be better? Or hell even get a lower trim and upgrade to ST? I understand this is probably a retarded concept but I don't know my cars but want to learn
You can build an ST to be faster than an RS in a straight line, but you can't make it handle as well. If you can afford the RS, buy that instead. It'll depreciate less, and you won't feel the need to mod it and sacrifice your warranty.
>>15735512
>$10k price jump

>buying a knock off mazda
Top lel
RS is too new and is going to have problems
one for sure is going to be axles, diffs
it's a very solid and well put together car, but i feel like the ST is a better choice. there was so much hype for the RS but you can get a great experience with a FiST or FoST without the price.
I am a new driver who lives in the mountains, I want to practice driving up in the passes but I am wondering how dangerous it is for a novice. Any tips for staying out of trouble?
lol. I'll bite. in what car op
>>15735495
Do it late of a night time and don't turn your high beams on so you can see cars coming.
other than that don't go faster than you know you can go around a corner, always make slow progress with going faster around a certain corner don't try to take huge leaps.
Don't cook your brakes.
