The original versions may as well have had leaf springs. Terrible ride quality and ox cart handling.

The latest generation are monsters though. You can get some from the factory with 355/30R19 track tires.

Any opinions on buying a used car with a rebuilt engine (assuming professionally done at a reputable shop with documentation)?

I'm looking this car but can't decide if it's a good deal or not. The seller is flexible on the price. They claim to have all maintenance records and proper documentation on the rebuild.

Really? I would think pretty much all engines need a rebuild eventually. This rebuild was done around 200k miles, which seems reasonable for a car of this age. Plus, isn't a full rebuild nearly as good as a new engine, or am I fooling myself?

My 2000 Dodge Avenger won't start right after passing an inspection. It has the change oil light on even though I got the oil changed yesterday. The battery can't be jump started but the power works.

What could it possibly be?

After 4 years of saving money for my dream car I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these within the next 6 months. Ask me anything.

Wait for the facelift to hit and hope that people will trade in their first gens and get a better deal on a used one? Wait for winter to hit and hope that people get rid of their RWD summercar?

It's a good car. If you want to be competitive in an autocross class get the scion. If you want to be comfortable get the brz. Neither one has plush seats. I love mine and like the original face best.

I'll get the GT86 (Europe), because BRZs are virtually non-existent in my area (593 registered in the entire country so far). I don't care about being competitive because autocross doesn't exist here and track days are rare, the "none scheduled" kind of rare.
