What's /o/'s opinion of the new Mitsubishi outlander sport?
My dad wants to buy one for my mother, who only needs a car for daily urban/rural driving.
I want to convince him to buy an old Honda civic, but he's not budging.
What do.
>>15751669
May I add he wants it because it's cheap
Rather see an Outlander than a Civic on the road.
The facelift Mirage actually managed to be a bit decent compared to its original form. Try that out.
Civic type R or Golf GTI clubsport s?
I'm torn on which one to buy. I love them both honestly.
But I just want your guys opinions.
>not VAG
or
>VAG
Well, that was easy.
Depends on whether you want to be seen as that guy or THAT guy.
Nah, go with the Honda, if nothing else it looks shittons cooler.
>>15751624
neither
Two owners ago this car had eyelashes, and the residue is stuck on there. Any idea what will take it off? Something that won't ruin the paint, please.
I can kinda peel some of it off, but some of it has gotten hard as well
Try WD40. Let it soak in. If that doesn't work, brake cleaner. If that doesn't work, Goof Off.
>>15751553
It's already ruined.
>buying a car that had eye lashes
Use brake clean
>>15751553
>miata with eyelashes

Honda a shit
It's a well know fact.
i cant think of any reason to buy a MotoGP replica unless you literally live on/own a race track and have a massive borner for pretending to be marc marquez.
>grew up poor
>could never afford tools or cars to work on
>never had any shop classes at school to get a feel for tools or anything remotely practical
>dad wasn't very interested in cars, although he taught me some stuff
>whenever I got even a small chance at doing repairs on a car, I never get to do it because someone else always butts in
>still too poor to afford tools or a decent car
>currently taking auto class at community college
How the fuck does anybody learn about cars without growing up around that shit? I hate my life, all I've ever wanted to do was work on cars and I can't even have THAT. Some people want to be fucking rich and famous and they still get that, but I will never just work on a car by myself and learn shit at my own pace by being hands on. On top of that, whenever I fuck up at something in my auto class at school I get berated by my professor and other students.
shamefur self bump
You wouldn't believe how many days I shat corn kernels, I thought it would only be one day but I'm on day 3 and still making maize.

I was in the same boat but I signed up for a free automotive program, googled some auto basics before going and finished the program with 6 ASE's. Stop being a faggot and figure out a way to make it happen. If you smoke, drink, 420, fast food, etc. you're wasting money so cut that shit out. Or you can be one of those guys wearing the latest "fashions" looking fresh while waiting for the bus.
You have a choice between 2 cars:
1) Jeep Wrangler
2) Mazda Miata
You can buy any year you want, but you can only have one. Which do you choose and why?
mazdaspeed miats
Ecoboosted Miata with a fiero bodykit
:^)
Miata with a 6 inch lift kit and 4x4 conversion
What is the tool that a lot of people overlooks that one should really consider having as part of their garage?
I have a house with a 1 car garage, and I'm making a list of things to buy and prep up in order to be able to maintain and fix cars. Other than basic tools (torque wrench, wrench sets, c clamps, multimeter, etc.), what must one not forget about?

If you're dealing with somewhat modern cars, OBD scanner.
>Self driving cars will become mainstream in the foreseeable future
>Eventually they will get better at driving than humans
>Normal cars could be banned due to safety
No, dude, bo. Planes are super automated and still require a pilot in case shit goes wrong. SD (self driving) cars use LIDAR to see. That doesn't work in heavy snow. The cameras they use to interpret lines on the road don't work in bad weather either. Location software even with cell, wifi, and GPS for triangulation guesses within a 20ft radius at best.
They will become a taxi service in cities, but never more than that unless we go full AI and have something truly on the level if a human instead of crude AI and sensors.
>>15750950
It might happen in some communist shithole like California or Europe but not where I live. Way too much wilderness that the gubmint would never be able to control.
If planes and trains can't even drive themselves with the powerful and reliable computers they got, That means your Civic is a long ways from being fully autonomous.
>>15750950
I for one look forward to being part of the elite group of gasoline shitbox owners fucking with automated cop cars
Hey, /o/
Should I get this for day to day errands and shit? I've never dealt with a rear engine vehicle before so I don't know how this would work out.

Pic unrelated, a bit out of my budget but I would if I could.

An MR2 is not a practical daily driver by any means.
If you drive nomally they are the same as any other car
>>15750811
This, also its MR. Hence MR2.
What are the consequences of not telling my insurance company that my car is modded?
A cold air intake isn't a mod
>>15750650
Intercooler, intake, exhaust, charge pipe, short ahifter, tune, catch can
Is that a mod?
>>15750633
> Crash car
> Go to insurance company
> They see the car was modded
> Refuse to cover the damage to it
> Refuse to cover the damage you did to whatever you hit
> You're personally liable for all of the damage
> Cover withdrawn because you're a liar
> You then are legally bound to state such when getting insurance elsewhere
> Soon, you're only able to insure a tiny 500cc japanese econobox for all your money, and still have to have a black box on it
What does /o/ think of the Jeep Renegade?

what would make a better shitbox, any crown vic ever or a 9th gen impala?
i've got reasons to like both just about equally but i'm looking for some input becuase i'm dumb
>>15750499
>automatic American sedans
>not buying a manual Japanese car like the rest of us
It's time to grow up anon
>>15750562
i can get either of them for a lot cheaper than a manual civic that isn't beat to shit
>>15750721
Crown Vics are supposed to be reliable, I know older Gen impalas are less so. Don't know too much about American cars sorry.
>I drive a manual Japanese shitbox
Anyone here own a 2004-2008 WRX STI? What's the reliability like? I own an IS300 right now and looking to trade up, and have found quite a few in my price range, but all have decently high mileage (100-150k miles). Ask an subie fanboy and you'll hear nothing but how they're the best and most reliable, but everyone I've known that owned a WRX has had numerous issues with their car, even with up to date maintenance. Is subaru reliability just a meme? I've owned a GTI before so I know what it's like to own a turbo car, special maintenance, and something that needs fixing once a month lol. Any input is appreciated, thanks.
>>15750394
Get an evo if you want reliability.
>>15750394
>What's the reliability like?
just trust me when I say don't buy a used wrx.
you are better off saving and financing a new one.
the problem isn't the reliability that is inherent to the brand or even to this particular model, it's who drove it before you.
the wrx lends itself to boy racer types who are going to drive the car hard, and you are going to be buying a car that has all of the wear from the previous owner, and a decade old car is also going to have some parts that need to be fixed just due to being old, not to mention the high mileage.
>tl;dr
>save up and finance a new one
sorry if it's not what you want to hear, but it's not going to be the same as buying a corolla which handle mileage better, and aren't driven as hard
>>15750394
Burnt valves and ringlands memes. Heat from the turbo melts inner CV boots. Wheel bearings memes.
Fun car to drive though.
Reminder that if you're feeling down and depressed it could be worse, some people have literally nothing better to do with their Saturday afternoon than stand in the street and shout at people they perceive to be speeding.
