changing oil for the first time by my self tomorrow, is changing the filter absolute necessary or can i get away with it ?
>>16042070
Change it. It's not absolutely essential, but chances are the filter is finished.
>>16042070
Do yourself a favor and do it right. Replace the filter!
You don't have to but it would be stupid not to do it when you've got all your oil out anyway.
Especially considering it takes less than a minute to replace it.
Traction Control/ESP is a more important safety feature than airbags or seat belts.
Prove me wrong.
You don't need any of them when you teach people how to drive

Hey /o/ wheres a good place to get coil springs I cant seem to find any for my 1989 Acura Integra I'm going to replace all of the struts.

anyone?
>>16041468
Oem rear springs is the only option, Tein makes a set of coilovers too
>>16041525
Ask the dealer, ask a shop.
Why are you replacing them?
I want to straight pipe my car so I can have a loud exhaust when I drive hard and also backfires. I don't want to be an asshole though and wake up everybody in my neighborhood. I also still want to be able to daily the car, so I'm thinking about adding a nice silencer to it somehow.
I've seen people with some kind of butterfly valve in their exhaust, but it seems like that would just create a ton of backpressure.
Is there a way to have an exhaust that can backfire and really scream at high RPMs, but still be quiet when driven normally and not give horrible drone?
Also, it's a N/A i6, so it should sound good, but it would be deafening.
straight pipes are lame as fuck
its cool for about 5 minutes when youre 16

Switchable exhaust cut-outs or a Varex muffler.

What about adding a resonator in? I mainly just don't want a cat
>>16041412
That's kinda what I was talking about in the OP, is it bad for your engine in any way?
How do I get rid of that exhaust resonance sound after doing headers and a catted midpipe?
Due to the thinner metals than the stock cast iron manifolds, I can head the valve train like a motherfucker and I get that annoying exhaust metallic sound of air going through the pipes that sounds like a leak but isn't.
Will resonators AFTER the H on the mid pipe cancel this sound out?

>>16041334
Sorry, I was thrown off by the part where you said you wanted to get rid of the exhaust resonance sound (aka drone). If your problem isn't actually exhaust resonance, a resonator won't do anything. Your only solution without replacing the header is going to be sound insulation on the firewall and hood.

Hello! I recently purchased a 1992 5.0 notchback with a Vortech V3 supercharger and tremec 3550 trans. The car is modified and I have a build sheet totaling over 9000 dollars. Making about 350-400 rwhp and 8 psi of boost.
I paid 8900 dollars for the car.
I live in the northwest where a clean stock notchback 5.0 goes for around 5000-7000 dollars right now on craigslist anyway.
My problem is that on KBB fox bodies are listed as being worth 2400 dollars. And NADA says around 5000 dollars.
Im afraid if I get into an accident where my car is totaled I will not get paid out anywhere near 8900 dollars.
I'm living at home and under my parents car insurance. I asked my dad to talk to our insurance agent and see if I am able to pay a higher rate per month to cover the cost of a 9000 dollar car. The agent said you can't do anything like that.
What can I do to protect myself and insure my car for the full value I paid for it?
Sell it and kys for buying an American car made from 1975-2004
you wont unless you go through specialty insurance. you have to compile photos and the build list for them to prove value and go from there. had the same issue with my 240sx.

How tight should the oil filter actually be, and why does every shop torque them to 40ft/lbs
Hand tighten like a motherfucker...
>>16041107
Not too tight
Just tighten them with dirty greasy hand and that should be fine
Because they're not the guys that will do the next changes
don't all the instructions ever tell you to spin it down until its nice and tight (like a firm but not insane one-handed twist gets it no further) and then give it it 3/4 of a turn with a wrench?
That's what I've always done and it's gone fine, and I've never had to fight it back off.
I guess a real torque spec would help, but 40 sounds like too much
Besides the Carrera G,T I believe the Porsche 911 997.2 was the best looking porsche ever made.

RWB or whatever racing Porsche he copied was the best looking by far.

>>16040677
Nice 'bird. I'm looking to get one soon myself...but the prices are higher than I would like for mid-mileage models. Low-mileage models are going for (though I doubt anyone is actually getting) a completely ridiculous 25-35k on autotrader/ebay.
This makes me sad. It was my high school dream car, and I hope when I'm in the market I can find an affordable example.
>>16040686
25-35k is insane. I bought mine with 60k miles from a dealer. Over paid, but I had negative equity on the shitbox I traded in
>>16040686

What is the cheapest rwd, 2 door car I can get with a manuel transmission that isn't a miata?
probably an old toyota pickup
Fox body/SN95 Mustang
350Z, get an 07-08 if you want 300HP
RX-8 will be cheaper in price but more expensive in maintenance and fuel
Insurance might balance them out though
