Still kinda a newfag here, so bear with. I really want something that can put up numbers without killing me insurance wise. MX5s are ok, but I want something that has the structural advantage of a coupe...and of course, being in the UK, insurance is the main problem. I have considered getting a car that will for solely track/drift use, but I don't know where I could put it/if my parents would let me.

Hey o. I recently had a professional auto shop do a full inspection on my 99' Corolla, and figured today would be the day I start doing all my work myself.
This is what I got back from them, but I figured I'd just do the wheel bearing/hub and front pads/rotors right now. Gonna do some more research then pick up parts. Any info or suggestions would be helpful, thank you.

Pros: engine could be shorter due to not-in-line cylinders.
easier to add a supercharger
Cons:
there's more work to be done in the factory if you have a "V" - read as: it's not as cheap as in-line engine
4 cams (unless it'll run as 8V)
two outlets, longer exhaust, more difficult to construct a good 4-2-1; impossible to do a 4-1
guess the cons (mainly those about exhaust problems) are the main reason why we don't see those daily on roads

All the weight is in the rear, so you have to use throttle to corner the car. Steering and braking also tend to be more numb in that layout
