I want real advice from actual owners, not a stupid chart with barely any detail on the general car that isn't even specific to the one i'm looking at.

What's that one manufacturer you praised as a kid, but feel like crying when you see what they had become to day?
Mazda
Honda, subaru.

Meh, out of all of these posted i think subaru stayed mostly true to their ideology
Can /o/ explain why no American automaker has a reputation for reliability or build quality?
Not Ford, not GM, not even Tesla seem to be able to escape the complaints of misaligned panels, leaking roofs, unreliable engines/motors/batteries, etc. Yet German luxury marques are held up as world-standard engineering, and everyone says Japanese brands like Toyota and Honda are the most reliable, most future-proof cars you can buy.
What the fuck went wrong with America's auto industry?
Is it just because they hire Mexicans to build them in Mexico, or because union workers are lazy as shit, or because excessive automation means nobody fucking checks or cares about what gets shit out of the production line?
Do any of the auto industry history books shed light on this?
japanese cars are more reliable because they're crushingly boring and use much older engineering
german cars are less reliable because they use bleeding edge stuff with little regard for longevity
we're somewhere in the middle and i think i'm ok with that
A combination of a somewhat protected market that stifled competition, a consumer culture that focuses heavily on quantity and frequent updates instead of quality and longevity, and the coalescence of a few, but extremely large conglomerates that quickly developed toxic corporate cultures.
I recommend reading On A Clear Day You Can See General Motors byt DeLorean (yes, that DeLorean)
Service side of dealerships pull in twenty times what sales makes.
Only the insane make reliable vehicles
How much is this thing worth? 89 Corolla, 110k miles. Guy is asking 1k "OBO"
I'm heading back to school and really need a car, and it's either this, a '90 civic with 170k that I brought down to 600, or a 98~2000 Corolla/Civic for >1k
This is NYC, for what it's worth.
Thanks, /o/
Normally I'd hop right to the later years but I saw this fucking interior and my bad taste activated.
>>16282813
Well its almost a 30 year old car, and that comes with some caveats. Its not a bad deal though.
it can be low miles but its going to have wear
Take it to a shop, put it on a lift, get under it, check for leaks, inspect for rust, especially since its in NY. check all the rubber parts, seals, bushings, fuel lines, spark plug wires etc
change all the fluids the second you get the car, and it will probably last a good while

I have a 2010 taco, Double Cab 4x4. I bought the upgraded 4x4 over the Sport even though I liked how the Sport drove better.
Now I need to cross-grade to something with 7-seats. It's got to have real 4x4 (no AWDshit).
What should I get? Will be looking used.
>>16282428
why do you need 7 seats?
>>16282592
His wife has 5 sons
>>16282592
twins
with car seats there is no 3rd adult room
without we'll still need to take a friend each

>twin 2
>friend A
>friend 2
>possibly other parent
we can squeeze 5 into the grand cherokee if one adult climbs in between the car seats but the taco is 4 max.
>Why don't we have a great American legitimate super car yet?
Are American car manufacturers out of the super or even hypercar game?
Burgers unironically believe that muscle cars = super cars.
Because American manufacturers are under the delusion of having to make their products mass market or at least upper middle class affordable because muh illusion of an equal society, so they cost-cut at every corner, and a stretched Lotus with a crate engine is legitimately the best they can do with these self-imposed restrictions.

Hello germanfags. Could You recomennd a car lot or two where You can buy a cheap used quality german cars in the area of Nittenau/Regensburg/Amberg/Nurnberg?! Have a budget of around 3500EUR. Maybe even some tips for what to look out for?
Not a German fag but I've always wondered how hard it is to legally drive an older car such as an e28 or e30 their
>>16282047
You actually have to pay less taxes for cars that are 25+years old
Only problem is the maintenence as the old cars need more work and money to keep up to the high safety and condition requirements
Every 2 years you have to pass the TÜV test and your car will fail for completely unnecessary things like a not working parking light
>>16281800
Just pick big Autohauses and avoid the small turkish ghetto dealers
Look at mobile.de you can switch to english on the site
3500€ is not much for a german classic and i would avoid E36 and E46 3series' because they are all abused shitboxes in that pricerange
>>16282047
In Poland old cars have slightly higher insurance, bit you can register old ones as relics. They need to be 25+ years old, 15+ years out of production and 70%+ original parts or be one of a kind/driven by a famous person/won historic race/took important part in history/was rebuilt with original standards.
Then you can grab a pack of privileges like: you don't need technical inspections, you can cancel insurance for some time (you can't drive it then), you get lower insurance.
Let's have a funny plate thread. Saw this at my school a while back.
