Wrangler owners who aren't stock, how big is the aftermarket for jeeps and the modding community?

I own a 2015 370Z and work on it constantly, also work on aircraft engines for a living so I'm not new to working on shit...

I've never owned or driven a jeep, but have heard they're fun as fuck, so just looking for insight from people who actually drive these things.

How big is the modding community?

If you're in the US/ Canada... FUCKING. HUGE. Been looking to get a cheap TJ for the past 2 months right now.

I DD an LJ and it's doesn't have any creature comforts except for Heat and if you're lucky A/C. Super easy to work on though and I'm not even that mechanically inclined. If you decide to get a manual, the 6 speed gear ratios are high as in 1s gear red lines at 15mph.

My dad got the JK and it's stiff over bumps, but gets the same mpg as my LJ while cranking out 80+ more hp than me.

Okay /o/, I've narrowed my search down to two cars. 36 month lease with 12,000 miles/year.

>2017 Mustang Ecoboost Premium - Automatic, 200A Group, Black, Red Leather Interior (around $33,000). Total cost: $16,490.

>2016 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus - Automatic, Harmon/Kardon Sound, Uconnect 8, Driver Convenience group, Sunroof (around $35,000). Total cost: $13,140.

I live in a city and do bumper to bumper commute for 2 hours every day, so manuals are out of the question. Comfort of the premium/sxt plus fits my needs well enough. If you had a gun to your head, which would you choose? Doing the deal before the end of the week.

I've always just seen these as bland shitboxes but can't find a ton saying they're unreliable or anything.
My neighbor asked me if I'd be interested in his wife's caliber cause she had a stroke and can't drive now and it's easier for them to just use his truck.

They bought it New it's a 09 rt awd autotragic with 68k. He said $2000firm. I figure I can't really go wrong but anyone have experience with these? I like my neighbors and don't want to be a dick and just flip it. Just wondering if overall it'll be a reliable good boring dd.

Right now I dd a rusty ass 99 protege that runs good but is a true shitbox that makes me look homeless.

If it's a manual get it otherwise don't because it's s CVT in those instead of a regular automatic
>>
>>16277471
They're fairly reliable as far as I know. My dad's wife (kek) has an '09 I'm pretty sure, and it hasn't had any problems. It doesn't do that pseudo-shifting like new CVTs do so it does feel a little weird to drive. If you get it, don't drive it hard because the CVT really doesn't like it. Good boring DD sounds about right, don't try and make it anything more than that
>>
>>16277471
No. It's a shitty car not worth any amount of money. FCA almost went bankrupt for a reason.

Out of curiosity, whats a classic car with low maintenance cost, reliability, and durability?

I have the option to buy a 1985 FORD LTD with 41,000 miles on it, everything is in like new condition but I don't have experience in keeping up costs for older cars.

This

Also k-car, rubber bumper MGs, and wbodys
>>
>>16276979
That should be dirt cheap to maintain. Mechanically, any way. Should also be fairly reliable if it's been serviced well.

Sure is one ugly car though

The Honda systems is problem is that it's got a stupidly small differential in the rear, it shuts itself off because it overheats because I can't take even the slightest of strain tests
>>
>>16276865
Also the Toyota would have passed this test too if the driver just hit "lock" on the awd system

Each of these systems failed because they would roll up the ramp, lose then gain traction again. Also most drivers would put more power on the throttle to overcome this which is where this test fails because they're not getting enough power from the engine because of weak throttle

The narrator even says this "there's no enough that power" well then give it some more power and it'll work
>>
>>16276837
jesus christ this is terrible to look at, to all those """""""""""""Awd""""""""""" vehicles

All of the countries in the world have come into the decision that only 3 car manufactures shall be there and the people of each country can vote for the brands they like.

But one criteria.

>One brand must cater to the middle class and the under-middle-class-class(or whatever you call it I don't remember.)

>The 2nd brand must cater to rich people which the middle class people can also buy if they wish to.

>The 3rd is the brand that is only meant to be accessible by the super rich.

What 3 brands would you choose if you are from your respective countries?

It's amazing how weak a unibody is when it even hits a SAPLING that is barely a tree. These cars are all optimized to pass NHTSA tests against a large wide blunt object. It's why aluminum works well. But against a narrow object, aluminum either slices or warps and tears.

With rear engine aluminum body cars (or tesla types), a tree or telephone pole would do even better at getting thru to the passenger compartment. It's like that Ford F150 aluminum truck bed problem. Rough and tough against blunt loads or collisions. But anything sharp and it is easily torn right through.
