I have a real job unlike you neetboi

What's the max one should spend on a used car.

Like what amount is considered stupid to spend on a used car.?

Comes down to your budget you nonce.

>implying we're all in the same financial situation

I just spent 5k on a used WRX. This was worth it despite needing some new body panels and a bit of mechanical work.

You can get a used Porsche 911 Carerra 4S for 60k. You can get a used Corolla for 10k.

There's not a "too much" to spend here - Just a matter of what you're willing to pay for the kind of vehicle you want.
>>
>>16681892
That depends on what car, and how used. New cars are a meme, I always buy used. Recently got a new beater, 2011 Escape with 80k on the clock. Fully optioned. My mechanic gave it a clean bill of health. $5k to purchase, $1k to my mechanic for brakes, sway bar links, and a couple other things. On that car I would probably have been willing to spend 8 or 9k. Blue book value was around 12k IIRC. It definitely would have been stupid to spend $30k on it (roughly MSRP). $30k is reasonable for a fairly new CPO luxury sedan like an E class or a 5 series. $30k is a great deal on a gently used Ferrari. Absolute steal on a gently used Bugatti. It's all relative.

Volkswagens have nicer fit and finish than ALL Jap luxury brands, except for maybe flagships like the LS 500. Prove me wrong.

Bottom barrel VWs are disgusting.

For reference, I had to drive a 2014 Jetta while my 2014 CRZ (yeah yeah, it's a long story) was sitting in the garage waiting for an airbag from Mexico thanks to some fucks in Japan wanting to preserve their honor.

Anyway.

The Jetta pulled well with it's little turbo, but the fit and finish of the interior is horrible. The plastic looks horrendous, the AUX cord plug-in broke and fell down into the console, and the steering wheel made my skin itch occasionally. Plus the seat was absolutely horrible. I had to commute about 80 miles a day (On Honda's dime) and I could feel my back screaming at me after I got home.

So no, VWs aren't great. They're dressed up bottom tier economy cars. All my friends who own VWs have constant issues and their dashes are christmas trees.

My CRZ has exception fit and finish, and it isn't even a luxury car. It's pretty GOAT for a shitbox that shouldn't exist

Will electric cars eventually pretty much destroy the 'traditional' auto -enthusiast? I don't mean as in traditional cars, I mean the tinkering and such. Electric cars are killer as far as acceleration, being generally cool, etc. but really they are quite boring mechanically with not much going on in comparison to a complicated, hot, exploding, combustion engine driven car.

if it has no exhaust where do i stick my dick?
>>
>>16680434
Not all of them will be complex as a tesla. Once battery technology reaches maturity there will be plenty of very cheap electric cars available which will require physical maintenance. Things like contractors don't last forever and things corode
>>
>>16680434
I think their will be a good thing later on but not yet

wat i wish to see are more performance oriented hybrids that are power by big na v8's to the rear and a large battery for the front with the option to set the power how you want it

thats what i wish to see now

Just stopped by for your opinion.

I'm about to get stationed in Japan, Navy will let me bring back one car free of charge. My buddy said to get something called a Nissan GT-R32. What would you get if you could pick a Japanese import?

How does an AWD car achieve torque split without any wheel spin WITHOUT a viscous coupling or constant clutch pack wear?

P.S. I understand how you can get uneven torque split using gear ratios, but without a viscous coupling or clutches rubbing, you would induce wheel spin, wouldn't you?
