Very fun cars, I learned to drive on my mothers 97' v70 T5 wagon. That thing hauls ass for a wagon.
Be aware: If the head gasket goes, you are in for a world of hurt. The head is an unusual two piece design that requires a special tool to properly position the camshafts. It's a nightmare of a job, nothing you will want to DIY.
Aside from that, surprisingly powerful engine. I got around 19-21mpg in that wagon hooning it.

I can't imagine that engine in that small of a car after driving the wagon, I've always wanted to drive one.
Stay with FWD (Or if you go old, RWD). I've heard a number of bad things about volvo's AWD system (late 90s/early 2000s).

thats too high. i got mine for 2200 and it was a decent one. 259xxx km. This was 3 years ago

They sound good, are reliable, and make a good amount of power, simple to tune, and there's also a decent little aftermarket for them.

Agreed on the price being high. The only way its worth 3.5k is if its perfect. I'd say a T5 is worth 2-3k

mechanically? yeah, they seem solid.
electrically? fuck no, this is VAG standard electronic nightmare.

That seems like a great deal. Mileage is a bit higher than others but it's great. Pcv issues are very common, it'll make whistling noises. If it does, take the dipstick out when the car is running. If the noise goes away than it needs a new oil filter trap/housing with new rubber lines. Easier said then done, but that's the only major flaw. Other stuff like worn bushing and, hesitant starts are common but fixable, forums have ton of shit on that. I'd say you should get the car

Apparently the C30 T5 isn't as fast as you'd expect it to be. Or practical, for that matter.

Volvos were reliable until Ford bought them, now theyre owned by the gooks and not much better.
I have a 2006 S40 T5 AWD. It's a love/hate relationship. A very fun car to drive when it works, insanely comfortable seats, but it's probably in the shop 3 times a year for some random $1,000 repair.

Like what repairs? I have the exact same but am 05, the only issue i have is the dam hesitation start. I changed the sensor but i still have it so i think it's the fuel pump check valve that isn't holding
