I want a second car as a fun alternative to my daily and I've been looking at financing a ~10k car to build my credit (looking at putting 3-5k down immediately on it for low rates) and paying double or triple payments so it's payed off.
No, this isn't the best way to build credit, but considering how little I spend my money it'll be a better fit than another credit card.
Car I'm currently looking at is a 1st gen Mazdaspeed3
>FWD
Yep, but it's also got a 0-60 in under 6 seconds, which isn't bad
>4 cyl
Only 8 cyls I could finance in this price range are 2006-09 mustangs, and I really do not want those. 2010 at minimum.
>why not get a Miata
I also wanted 4 doors and a hardtop.
pic semi related.
Any other options you'd recommend?

Also, if anybody is able to run a VIN check that would be great.

V6 accord 6mt, 8th gen has 280hp and it's way more reliable than the speed3.
>>16679171
I don't know what 8th gen is mate, give me model years.
Only reason I'm able to ID the MS3 is because there were only two radically different gens.
How does /o/ feel about an acura tlx v-6?
>inb4 rebadged accord
>>16678970
Get sh-awd or it literally is a rebadged accord
>>16678974
That's what I was thinking. idk though, in terms of the nip luxury sedan market is this a good option?

Why don't your parents just remake you?
hey /o/. I fucked up. I have failed as a /o/tist. I went and backed into my dads snow blower. I just taped it but to me that is the equivalent to just straight up falling asleep at the wheel and driving off a cliff. so I would just like to know if you guys ever fuck up like this.
>also if you could teach me the automotive version of seppuku that would be great.

you'll have more wreckless days as you get older but accumulating experience will compensate your declining skills.

What does /o/ think about the Isuzu VehiCROSS?
My mom has one, it's pretty cool and quite the capable little off-roader.
Now she just takes it to car shows because very few people see them.
#RARE
love it.
I saw quite a few of them before I found out how limited they were. Need more 3door 4x4s.
They're weird from a mechanical stand point from what I remember working on them is a pain and parts are hard to find and pricey
Whats wrong with some people?

To be fair, it's a pretty decent looking '97 with only 52k miles. While 10.5k is a little high, it'd easily see 5-7k.

what's stopping me from buying a 240sx? are they really as shit as people say they are? I want aut/o/'s opinion, and be specific, not just shit-talk. anyone have any stories?
>>16675964
>what's stopping me from buying a 240sx?
Me.
I'm literally going to wrestle you to the ground every time you leave your house.
No homo.
Also you should buy one, I had a 180sx years ago, good times. The performance isn't going to blow your mind, but it's a stupidly fun car, they look great and are cheap as fuck to maintain.
Although you might struggle to find one that hasn't been thrashed/modded to all shit.
>>16676001
Recently I got into the idea of owning a tuner because ae86s exist and when i realized that parts are scarce and expensive, i thought of getting a newer one..
I'm fairly new in the whole car fanatic scene. I've mostly been a vidya fag my whole life so I don't know about the hierarchy system this board seems to have, but right now I'm between a 240sx, a civic, and a supra (which is really far into the I can't find a non-modded one area)
If it isn't already thrashed, it's rusting. I don't care what anyone tells you, this thing will have rust in the most god forsaken places
OK here is a new game.
poster gives a Year. You have to post a car from that year that you would own. Once you do, you can pick a year for someone else. After you have cycled through one full turn you can then give a Year and Manufacturer.

I'm tempted to buy a 2005 Acura RL with 201k on the odometer for 4500. Carfax clears out and the timing belt has been recently changed 400 miles ago. Should I go for it or should I jump on something else? Looking for something similar in its class, but don't want to spend over 5k.
that price is kinda high
but as long as it's from the original owner and has been well taken care of, it should be fine
>>16674042
I bought an accord 07 with 178k miles
Things I've replaced and things that probably need to be replaced
Power-steering pump was leaking horribly replaced that and he suction hose as well as oring on high pressure line
Replaced auto tensioner
Replaced upstream and down stream o2 sensors
Replace transmission fluid filter
Spark plugs
Front rotors and breaks
Ignition switch
Windows regulator and driver side window
Windshield
Things that probably need to be replaced
Entire suspension
Starter
Water pump
Timing chain tensioner
Rear rotors and pads
So yeah, don't buy a high millage vehicle
They're money pits
>>16674052
>as long as it's from the original owner and has been well taken care of, it should be fine
No 12 year old cars with 200k miles are time bombs or money pits
Do not waste money on them unless you enjoy throwing money at shit boxes and doing needless wrench monkey shit

I don't know enough about Altimas to say either way. Cursory googling says that the V6 version has 270 hp.
