I'm in the market and when I floated the idea of a Mustang, family and friends told me it's for faggots, douchebags, and that it's not practical. Are they right? I test drove a 2012 GT and liked a lot about it, it made me happy. But maybe an Accord Coupe is the smarter choice...
>>16671539
If it makes you happy then buy it.
Just because your family calls you a faggot doesn't mean you need to listen.
>>16671539
your family and friends dont want to see you have a cooler car than them...
that being said, mustangs are very common, so some douchebags and faggots ARE bound to own them.
>>16671539
tell your family to go fuck themselves. They're trying to make you fall for the "boring car so you'll have a family quicker" meme
I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2014 Camry SE 2.5L later today
Did I make the right choice? Looking for a durable reliable DD that gets decent gas and will last for 10 years+
>>16671436
Yea anon the camry is a great dd
3k civic or 5k miata
>>16671436
stop kidding yourself. you're not going to keep it 10 years. You're going to jump ship at the first several hundred dollar repair or you're going to get cucked into buying a crossover by a gf or wife. It's a boring car for boring people. The camry is shit without the V6. If it's 14-15k you should be putting down 4k.
Was looking on craigslist for old shitty civics and came across this 04 with a fucking shifter in the dash. What in the fuck is going on here? I never knew you could even do that. Whats next a shifter in the seat?
The dash is an amazing place for the shifter, is just so natural and easier to reach.
>>16671394
that entire generation had that.
also in a lot of commercial vans you'll see the shifter in the dash nowadays.
>>16671394
That's fucking ugly
Why is owning a car so expensive in burgerstan?
Especially in NE cities like New york
I'm gonna be going to grad school next fall and I was thinking that I can finally get a car and start driving (undergrad was in the city) but it's so fucking expensive.
Excluding the cost of the car you have to deal with inflated insurance, every mechanic is a scam, yearly inspections, tolls out the ass on bridges (15 bucks a pass? Really?) tickets here are expensive as fuck for the most stupid shit, parking is getting fucked because more and more streets are getting meters, making it impossible to find a spot sometimes, alternate side parking and the list just goes on.
Why do they do this? I just want a cute little miata to drive upstate with instead of taking the fucking Amtrak.
>>16670841
>waaaah i'm poor
>waaaah things cost money
You done yet OP?
Talk to me when you're paying € 50 in road taxes, €50 for insurance and €1,50 per liter petrol (€ 5,6 $/gallon)
>>16670841
>Why is owning a car so expensive in burgerstan?
Aaaand cue the yuros bitching about how much worse they have it.
News flash, you voted for the people that made those laws, you did this to yourself. Take action if you don't like it, or is that also not allowed?

if you don't live in a hilly area, you can get by on summers for most snow on the east coast US. that said, you're going to have to be VERY aware of what the car is doing. Winters offer easier driving in the snow, and basically required in the hills
Your mom is a meme you dumb ass bitch. Stop fucking asking us if shit is a meme or not. You fucking piece of shit.
>>16668548
Honestly its the snowy hills that fuck you up, going down and driving up them.
I used to rock all-seasons, then I moved to a hilly area and I swear by winters now. I'd say about 80% of cars here have them too.
It's just trying to get up that smooth snow where all-seasons tend to call it quits.
If its flat and only snows like 5 days a year, you are probably OK without. Obviously better with them ,even on dry roads winters are better in the winter...but you aren't going to die like some /o/tist's like to believe.
GM pulling out of Europe completely?
http://www.forbes.com/sites/bertelschmitt/2017/02/14/gm-considering-withdrawal-from-eu-sale-of-opel-to-peugeot-reports-say/
A clear sign they cannot compete?
You tell me /o/?
Guess this is why that rich faggot dumped all his stocks a while back. Europe was the only reason GM stopped making dull loaves of bread and shoebox cars.
RIP GM
>nothing of value was lost
Their only interesting car was the ampera/volt and they already pulled that one
FUCCCC GM
You have to turn your current car into a lowrider.
Will it suit this style or just look retarded?
My car is already a lowrider so yea it would work.
>>16664038
What is it?
literally can't find a non-lowrider 80s regal lmao
Is this a good deal.

shit deal m8. you want to buy from a private seller that has had it 15 years and has lots of maintenance records.

Hey Roanoke, literally the worst town to be an auto enthusiast in.
>>16666791
I know it sucks compared to where I'm from. Wife got me to move here after our first kid. Offroading and hiking choices are nice with the mountains around though.
>>16666799
Roanoke is so shit, I bought a 240sx from NC and it was the first one I had ever seen in person.
>Car has 231k miles on engine
>Got new battery in August
>Car doesn't start at all, no effort made by the car to turn and start. Key turns all the way and the engine makes no noise at all.
Help me out, /o/. What problems am I looking at, here?

how mechanically inclined are you?

dead battery
Dead battery, alternator may be going.

How do you faggots keep up? I can't see the fucking road marks.
If you're having trouble seeing when driving at night then you shouldn't be driving at night...
>>16672483
I don't have the option of not driving.

Is Kia really becoming the new Toyota?
Are Forte's and Optima's really as reliable as camry's and corollas?
>>16672380
hyundai use to be as reliable as Toyota, can't really speak for them today
I know a few sonatas with 400k miles on them and they are still going strong
They're honestly getting better. Back in the 90s they were pretty shit, with really horrible build quality and safety standards. In the mid-00s they seemed to fix that pretty well. That being said, they're still boring fwd shitboxes.
This thread...
Fuck you guys are young.
I'm out
I'm going to make 400 miles each weekend because I'm in the military and my new base is far from my home, and I want to return home each weeked. Which ones are good cars to travel 1600 miles per month? I want something sporty since I'm not going to go at the speed limit since there aren't lots of speed radar in the zone. My budget is 40k at maximun.
I'm thinking about buying a Mustang or something like a Camaro.
I also like Miatas or GT86/BRZs, but maybe they are too small for long trips?
Other alternatives would be 4wd or rwd sedans like the Subaru WRX or german sedans like BMWs or Audis. Or maybe the IS lexus?
at 400 miles per weekend i would lease the most fuel economic car out there
>>16672123
get a mr2 with a lp bodykit
>>16672133
Fuel economy is not such a big deal, I have good salary. I should buy a Diesel because here in Spain gas is more expensive, but I'm going to buy a gas can since I found them funnier to drive. Also they have less mechanical problems because diesel car have those shitty air filters to "protect" the ecosystem. I prefer to have a fun and fast car to drive rather than one with good fuel economy. Bonus points if the car is comfy to drive.
AKA cars subject to the "Paul Walker Tax"
Besides R34s, MY99+ Supras and Series 8 RX7s, the worst offenders for markup that I've seen are Integra R/Civic R and some Altezzas. This is definitely the most ridiculous price I've seen that's not an R34. Even $30K Canadian pesos can get you a few-years-old Mustang GT 5.0 PP, or a similarly pre-owned Challenger R/T if you shop around.
I guess more people are willing to drop that kind of money on a DC5 Integra R than on an Elgrand or a Toyota Crown Majesta.
>>16672067
$10,000 for a 25 year old Kei car, I wouldn't pay $10,000 for a bugeye Type RA.
>>16672067
The only cars that have the Paul Walker tax are the Nissan R32 GTR , R34 GTR and Toyota Supra
thats it. Anything is due to supply and demand.

>30k for a fucking RSX
Permission to throw my phone out the window in an autistic rage
So there's a Chevy LT1 350 engine close to my house on sale for $650. It has about 125,000 miles on it. It's from a 91 caprice. I've been looking for something to replace the 305 in my 85 GMC squarebody. Is it worth it? How much gain over a 305 would I really even get? I'm aware of the Optispark bullshit, would I have to replace it?
>>16671705
If you are willing to rebuild the engine, sure. I guarantee that you need to do so.
>>16671705
if you built the 305 and opened it up as far as flow, you'd get about 1 second knocked off your 1/4. A 350 will knock a further second off that 1/4.
The 350 is definitely going to have some more umph to it compared to a 305, but depending on what transmission you're running it wouldn't be likely that it can handle the torque from even a stock 350.
and yes optispark is bullshit and should absolutely be replaced if you're going to rebuild it. (you should)
You can delete the optispark and run a normal distributor. Do that.
