from what I understand, on this car I have to replace the entire exhaust manifold. the ones I find on Autozone's website are $500 and none of them are California compliant - I'm guessing a compliant one will cost more.

Yeah, It's real fun to drive so far, got mine for 400 bucks though so it's a rustbucket, gonna need to replace the body panels at some point, it needs a new clutch as well, but that's all easily fixed.
Other than that it runs well, it's my first manual, as well, and I can see why people say that it's better

Although I saw a hardbody Nissan at an auction one time. Felt smooth as hell shifting through the gears. I bet if you found a way to swap the twin turbo motor from a 300ZX into it, it would be a super fucking sleeper.

I've seen some ones done up nice for off-roading too, and I've heard nothing but good things about their reliability as well.

Google isn't helping. So I looked up a replacement part for it. It looks like it's somewhere on the steering column, but it's not a big switch either.

Funny enough I was literally just looking at one on Craigslist for sub 2500. Apparently it needs a fuel pump only. These things look really cool though that's for sure.

Most of them would be rusted to fuck by now and long since junkyarded. Probably aren't more than a few thousand in the whole country at this point that are driveable. Probably would have to look at CA or the Southwest where they wouldn't have turned into a pile a rust.

There's not much reason to use another engine. They have their own machine shops and the engines have very tight regulations. They are all basically the exact same.

I understand that formula series' are "about the driver", but I think most people prefer an interesting mix of vehicles on the track

1989 Honda civic. Sold it to my friend when I went to college. I took that car and made it shine. New paint, new seats, decent stereo, the works. And my friend ran it into the fucking ground. The head gasket blew in 2003 and that was the end of the civic.
