Hey all, I am not sure if many of you are driving some of these cars, but since I wont be able to get an B6 S4 in the near 2-3 years I am trying to decide between 1.8T and 3.0V6. I know that the 3.0V6 cannot be modified a lot, while 1.8T has a lot of potential. The quattro is a must, manual is preferred, but I can live with Tiptronic.. maybe. I don't want to reach some insande HP, but I was thinking 250. 1.8T will need a lot to get there, while the B6 can be get there with intake and exhaust. Any advices?

1.8t nevAr lose
>buying a what then would be a 15y/o turbocharged german car from the early 2000s
Worst of all worlds, and are likely to be driven for 100s of thousands km beforehand. Unless you have previous knowledge of the owner(s) or have a family member at an (audi) auto shop, Id probably look elsewhere. If you absolutely must have one, look around audi forums for what basic maintenance costs are, also changing major bits like timing chain, gaskets, suspension parts etc. Dont forget to add work costs unless you want to wrench on it yourself.
Dont have one, but Ive heard some wild costs from associates that bought themselves a 10y/o german "limousine" for a few grand, thinking they were hot shit. Next thing you know, the thing is sitting in front of the house because they cannot keep up with the maintenance costs when something goes to shit every few months (or more often). Better yet, they say fuck it and sell it back and it gets sold to the next unlucky fellow.
Be satisfied with 200 bhp and enjoy the 1.8t for the very robust little engine that it is with decent gas economy.
So why aren't compressed cars a trend? I mean basically they put out air from the tanks and the thrust from it will allow them to move.
And compressed tanks fill up quicker too. Right?
Could you imagine how tiny the range on those would be?
>>17821551
compressed air means easy explosion
also shit power density
also compressed air moving a turbine moving the wheels would be better
This is the mechanism of a children's toy.
It's not a viable means of transportation.
What kind of people drive this car in your country?

Tesla's are a window into the hell that is the future of car culture.
The 8th gen Chevrolet Suburban meanwhile marked the peak of automotive engineering:
1. Practical
2. Multi purpose
3. Affordable
4. Easy to work on
5. unmatched parts interchangeability and aftermarket
6. Doesnt compromise your man card
7. No smug emissions
>>17819997
While I hate Tesla as much as the next guy, you gotta admit that they do have a lot of room.
>>17819997
Is 8th gen pic related? Sorry, but the suburban has been around since the 30s I think, it's hard to keep track
>>17820068
It's the 1973-1991 generation. So 7th gen.
>augment the features of a station wagon with good rough-weather capability
>shorter wheelbase and better ground clearance than a minivan
>Uncucked engines because they technically qualify as SUVs
>Don't guzzle fuel and have good on-road performance
>Passable offroad performance for dilettantes and weekend campers
>Comfortable, large interiors
>Significantly more affordable than full-size SUVs due to platform commonality with sedans
>Ride height gives you a commanding view of the road
Face it, /o/, the crossover SUV is the ideal form of transportation. You're just mad that the soccer moms figured it out before you did.
>>17819987
>posts soccer mom tier crossover
Get a crossover from the company that invented the crossover.
How insecure are you that you need "a commanding view of the road"? Further more a car on stilts will always be at a handling disadvantage, it's basic physics. I'd rather avoid an accident and get on with my day rather than having to choose between rolling over or crashing into something.

Dumb but fun. An 11.3 second PT Cruiser is a hilarious thing. Super fun for autocross.

MR2 actually stands for "midship runabout 2-seater"
or converted from engrish, as they did in the later years of the car, "midengined RWD 2 seater"
the sw20 especially seems to be surrounded by engrish phrases, such as "MAN IN DANDISM- NEW RICH AND SPORTS"
What was the point of the Prelude when the Accord coupe also existed?

I'm retarded. I financed a car (first purchase, it's certified, I'm not THAT retarded to buy a new one right now) but I don't know where the bill for the payments will come from? Will I receive it by mail? Will they just charge the account I used to pay the down? I couldn't find it in the contract. Pls respond

So basically, I have the opportunity to own a 2001 325i for $1500 (including what is owed on the plates). My boyfriend has owned this car but doesn't drive it because he owed on the plates. Right now, there's nothing wrong with the car, except for the passenger window doesn't go down (which is not a huge deal to me)
I've always wanted a BMW like this one, but I do wonder how much it would cost to own. I'm only 19 and I'm by no means rich - however, I do have a job and my expenses are low.I don't mind spending money on the car in order to keep it in good condition, but I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into. Anything in particular to watch out for?
if something goes wrong, do you plan to wrench it yourself, or send it to the shop?
>>17821129
my buddy had an 01 3 series, cost him about 3k over three years. The big thing is the water pump
>>17821129
Electronicz really, I'd highly suggest spending a couple hours on the internet learning about the year and model you'll get a much better picture than from the posters here.
It has been in my experience bmws require lots of care, and if something does go bad it will be expensive, so if you're not good at saving up money for future repairs I'd say it's probably not worth owning for very long. Also if you plan to wrench budget tools as well as parts.
Hey folks, I have a 1991 Defender in beat up but drivable shape that I'd like to take to California to fix up.
Problem is, it has a LT1 engine swap with no real emission equipment. Plus side (?) the current Oregon title has it registered as a 1961 vehicle. Am I screwed or can I register it?
I don't think you have to pass emissions for a pre '76 but not an actual califag so my advice means nothing.
>>17820850
Right, sadly there's a pre-1980 super old Rover VIN (146101244), and I am not sure if I can register it wit that / if they'll check the engine, which is a Chevy from '94.
Could I sweet talk my way through the DMV without modern VIN on it?
