I think we're far enough removed from the death of Scion that we can have a reasonable discussion on it:

What went wrong?

Help a brother out.

Rear Wheel Drive Vehicle
Currently equipped with an aged VLSD
Year round driven, dry, rain, snow

Assume correct tires for correct season.

Helical or Clutch type (1.5 way?) for daily driving, not drifting, with the goal of having maximum traction in all conditions.

The helical on a zero traction surface works as an open, which means i'll be stuck in snow\ice?

Thoughts?

Torsen

I have both.
With the torsen,, apply light braking and it will lock the diff. Common for crawlers off road.

I'd personally just go with the clutch pack though.

with the same year, miles and comparable options would you rather have a cobalt, impala, g6, focus or fusion

top 3 picks would be even more helpful

thanks - and yes i know they're shit cars

Cobalt if SS
Focus if ST
The others are shit, base models of the first two are also shit.
>>
>>17816934
What model year?
>>
Fusion by a long shot. They're relatively comfortable, get decent mileage, and usually last longer than the focus counterpart and have less problems.

Alright I'm just looking to see if anyone has any idea of what could've caused this. I recently just bought a jdm b20b and installed it into my car after refreshing it (new seals, timing belt, water pump, tensioner) with one thing to add before I removed the original timing belt. It wasnt perfectly in time tdc, and while I was trying to adjust the intake cam it was giving me a lot of trouble. . But I got it in time and tensioned properly. And I've replaced timing belts on these cars plenty of times before so I know it was correct. Anyways i installed it into the car yesterday. Started first try and it idled relatively ok. It was running rich most likely because of a bad primary 02 but that shouldn't have caused this issue. The problem yesterday was if I revved slowly it would react accordingly but if I quickly revved it or wot it would hesitate and then rev up, like it was choking. I checked all the vacuum lines and sensors, everything seemed ok. Then when I went to start it this afternoon the motor wouldn't crank. It just made a grinding noise.. pulled off the valve cover and found the timing belt half off the cam gears. And the intake cam basically seized. Manually rotating the crank only spun the exhaust cam and the timing belt would jump the intake. I also noticed the cam journals in a few spots were scarred up pretty good. If anyone has any idea what caused this help would be appreciated.

I followed the service manual instructions and torqued to proper spec with a split be torque wrench. I'd be hard pressed if that was the issue.

So I'm looking for a 4x4 vehicle that won't get used too often or too heavy but I want it to be more than equipt for what I need it for, I'm basically going to be using it for camping off rough roads and bringing equipment for renegades(basically a rave, but in the woods and an older crowd), I also have a large property down south I'll need to get around on and there's not many trails or roads on it, I was thinking of getting an hmmwv from a military surplus considering I also wanted something diesel and it doesn't have to look pretty or be comfortable, is there any reason not to do this?

Parts are basically nonexistent and you'll have to do 95% of the work the vehicle ever needs yourself unless if you know a really specialized mechanic. Also have fun spending $75 just to fill the gas tank every week and I guarantee they've been thoroughly thrashed and good god are they slow, they barely hit highway speed because they weigh three tons.

At least buy an H1 Hummer if you want that old school military feel without driving a complete shithouse on wheels.
Also they're kind of expensive just to purchase outright compared to a regular offroad vehicle that will be infinitely less shit.

I spend $150 filling a WRX. $75 would be nice.

It'll probably cost less but need a lot of work. Fix the Passat, sell it for what you can, save your shekels, and save the RX. It most likely isn't going anywhere.

I like the FC a lot. i would make mine a widebody though. this is a car with a great chassis that has VERY good suspension geometry. i want to make the most of it

So I recently purchased a GTI that had quite a few mods done to it. After digging I found out there is a Carbonio intake, a K&N air filter, an APR HPFP, full APR exhaust, an S3 Intercooler, and a K04 Turbo, with a DV valve. All with a APR Stage 2 performance tune. Well, the DV valve ended up going out, (assuming a seal or gasket was bad) but not knowing much of anything about the car, the dealership it was taken to decided to replace the entire turbo system back to stock. Naturally, they set the ECU back to factory, which cased one of my o2 sensors to go bad. (They replaced the downstream sensor, not both) After doing that my ECU started throwing the P0420 code. The dealership told me I needed to replace the cat and exhaust back to stock, but I wasn't going for that. After more research(and testing the cat myself) I determined I just needed an o2 spacer, until I get another tune back on the car. My question to anyone; is there any other things I should go about replacing to ensure the longevity of the car? I plan on replacing the cam follower, the ignition coils, the fuel injectors, the PCV valve, and air filter, but is there anything else I should replace aswell?

Good thing I only listen to my own music and not shitty radio.

Good thing any passenger knows enough to keep their hands off the fucking radio and HVAC controls.

Good thing passengers take all garbage with them when they leave.

Good thing I don't tolerate people smoking near me anywhere, let alone in my own car.
