what's the point of racing a rwd camry shell if it's nothing like a real camry?
do they alays use engines made by toyota or are teams allowed to use different ones?

Toyota paid NASCAR enough money to convince them to let them in.
And yes, Toyota (and Chevrolet and Ford) provide the teams with the engines.
There's not much reason to use another engine. They have their own machine shops and the engines have very tight regulations. They are all basically the exact same.
I understand that formula series' are "about the driver", but I think most people prefer an interesting mix of vehicles on the track

NASCAR, NHRA, etc., all have very strict rules about each individual component of the entire vehicle.
As an example, Toyota sponsors a good amount of funny cars, but these are all 500 cubic inch hemi motors as mandated by NHRA
