Test drove a few of these and would prefer them to the NA and NB simply for Daily driving.

I heard these are a lot less reliable than the first two generations. Mainly due to the engine.

>Poor reliability after around 80,000 - 100,000 miles
>The engine is prone to throwing a rod due to oil starvation.
>Excessive oil consumption.
>The engine being part built by ford.
>Replacement engines expensive and rare, apparently due to them all being fucked.

These are things i have heard from a friend who is a breaker and parts fitter for mx5's, and from multiple forums.

What are your experiences?
Are they a good or bad car for reliability, especially compared to the NA/NB models?

How was the test drive? I'm also thinking about getting one of these in the PRHT form because it would be my only car and subject to street parking. Really hoping the trunk can at least fit one reasonably-sized suitcase.

Buy a car with a MT and start driving it. Watch some Youtube videos. If you know someone who drives stick or knows how, have them give you a lesson.

It's just about practice. Once you get the first few shifts down successfully, the rest will come in time. You're basically using your whole body to drive the car, it's an applied skill so the only way to learn it is through practice.

Do it bro, it's good to know. Plus it places you higher on the hierarchy of men - any guy who can't drive stick will ALWAYS be inferior.

I have a tight $2,500 budget and I have been looking for semi-new commuters recently, what do you guys think of the 2008 Kia Spectra HB?

I found this one on CL with 80k miles for $2,450 and I'm seriously considering it.

The spectra looks ok, not my style though.
Im in the same boat, I bought a 4cylinder Toyota tercel. It gets 36 mpg and is solid.
Only paid 700$.

First, i know we need fool who buy new cars for have them priceless in the used market, but i can't imagine buy a brand new car...

I'm not talking about people who don't know anything about cars or those who don't like it.
I'm not talking either about anyone able to pay a 200k car without even thinking about it ( i understand for them ).

But under 100k of budget it seems crazy to me to buy a new car. Everytime i see a car budget i imagine what used supercar i could buy with this.
