There's always been this sort of mysterious atmosphere with Gundam SEED that wasn't in other gundams, SEED is the only Gundam TV show that I've binge watched episode after episode into the early AMs because I was so excited about what would be in the next episode. I guess it's maybe more "healthy" to have series that don't give you this kind of anticipation but SEED for some reason gave me some kind of investment in the story that I never found in any other Gundam media, even 08th and 0083 which are my favorites in the franchise.

And like, even though I knew it was just a rehash of 0079 with emphasis on lame ass ~emotions~ compared to the original it somehow felt really fresh.
Maybe it's got something to do with the limitations of technology in this timeline - after all, Cosmic Era is the only setting in Gundam where they don't put some kind of magic nuclear or other reactor in the mobile suits to make them tick for as long as they do, and the ones that DO have nuclear engines use actual fission so the meltdowns are pretty serious. So then you have all these fights where people on both sides are constantly pulling out for want of battery power, which was kind of cool to be honest.
Another thing was the Phase Shift armor system - I think it sort of helped that I played the Battle Assault for SEED on the GBA, if you play as Lowe Guele or Rau Le Creuset the game is basically fucking impossible because you have to break the enemy's Phase Shift armor in most cases before you can even begin to do serious non-chip damage since Lowe and Rau's beam armaments are either nonexistent or extremely limited

My buddy and me are slogging through it. We were enjoying it At first but 20 eps in and its becoming painful. It doesnt help that the entoie cast is interchangeable. Daigos the most boring fucking guy in the world. And t really doesnt help theres barely any TIGA wrestling mknsters.

Tho here have beeen a few standout episdoes that were pretty tight. I remember the one ep wjere tiga shrinks to human size and fights dudes at night was great.

I tried watching it 3 years ago. I got episode 11 and thought it was boring as hell. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't.

there IS a lot to like to it, it's just that the brand of storytelling isn't that popular here and there are some story holes that are unacceptable in the places where you see it discussed. Hell, I'd argue that there's plenty of merit to it and there are shows that are "hated" here more. Even here people are quick to point out the redeeming aspects of the show, because it does exist

I remember, early in the tokusatsu fandom days, that Faiz was well-respected in some of the toku discussion circles, and part of that can be attributed to the overlap between J-drama watchers and people who saw this. For example, people here are drawn to toku most likely because of the same reason kids are - flashy action, cool suits, and the rest are take it or leave it.

tl;dr it's completely understandable why someone would like Faiz
