>we fight against every website mentioned here

>our genre is being taken over by tastemakers and their elitist standards

>our opinions are too low to fight any consensus
We need a voice! Not just for /m/, but for our genre which is slowly being destroyed by modern trends.
Your post gave me ultra cancer
>>14863018
I wish I could offer assistance in the matter of turning these negative trends around.
Unfortunately for us all, I'm also a vile shitposter at heart.
>>14863018
What the fuck are you talking about.
Like ill give you;
>we have endless shitposting and samefagging
That shit is fucking annoying, but what the actual fuck does
>our genre is being taken over by tastemakers and their elitist standards
even mean.
LOGH,Eva,Votoms/Dougram, Ideon, Zeta,G,X, Turna A and 0079, bokurano, patlabor and Giant Robo, macross plus heck even bebop
Are all undoubtedly fantastic series, we know this is fact based on a simple cross section of animation and/or characters and/or talented creators and/or good world building.
The reason no one enjoys shit is because mediocrity is the majority of every genre, no one can stop you from enjoying things you like but if you keep trying to convince people that heavy object is some undervalued masterpiece people will slap your fucking shit.
The difference is the same it has always been, for those who love any genre are subjected to the same test. After seeing a smattering of good series they either:
Take the red pill and wait years if necessary to get that perfect series.
or
Take the blue pill and watch every piece of shit luke warm Aldenoah that comes out.
The difference is usually somewhat related to being either someone who watches things and can be patient, or some loser who needs to LIVE their hobby everyday and can only manage to do so by absorbing every even moderately garbage thing related to that.
It's unfortunate you seem to fall into the later group.

>what is gaia gear?
Gaia Gear is a story set in the future of the Universal Century timeline, specifically in UC 0203.
Once more, the governments of Earth and its space colonies are at odds and resolve their differences
with man-machines. This time the resistance group Metatron fights against the Man Hunting Attachment
police force of the corrupt Earth Federation. To have better chances Metatron creates a memory clone
of the legendary Char Aznable called Afranshia Char, who commands the troops of Metatron and pilots
the Gaia Gear Alpha.

>Miss me?
>>14862926
Oh yeah, I missed you
>>14862926
Hooray! The sound effects and the music take me places. It's not just retro, it's like I'm remembering a previous life.
It's weird how this is sort of posed as a redemption story for Char, and yet the plot and the supporting characters resemble those from Early UC so little (except in terms of generic Tomino). I've been waiting for an explicit "oh, here's a situation where I could do exactly what Char did, or I could do the right thing instead" moment. It's also interesting how the cast seems fairly older than the usual Gundam protagonist crew, and it's a little less child-friendly. I don't think we'd have so much focus on who Ul's netorare-ing in the various anime series, and apparently in the novel we've got a white supremacist bar-fight and the Ku Klux Klan.
Awesome to see you're still going.
Why is /m/ filled with so many gays lately?
I want to box yoko, if you know what I mean.
>>14862441
why are you posting one of the worst characters in anime history?
>>14862441
/m/ has always been more on the homo side
finished Nadesico today.
haven't been browsing /m/ long enough to figure out what the consensus on it is. personally, i quite enjoyed it.
what are your thoughts on the series and also the sequel movie?
let's have a thread.
>>14861720
The consensus is: good series, weird jumps in tone between serious and silly, the movie is a disappointment. The best Buttercup isall of them.
Show used to be really popular on /m/ 5 years ago or so, but we don't have any threads about it anymore, probably because it was discussed to death and it's not that we get any new materials except Nadesico being in SRW every once in a while.
Really enjoyable series, I watched it early this year and thought it was great.
Like >>14861731 said, the tone switches pretty quickly between light-hearted moments and serious matters.
>>14861773
> the tone switches pretty quickly between light-hearted moments and serious matters.
desu, i was too impressed by the fact that it does both comedy and drama reasonably well to be bothered by how jarring the switching between the two might have been.
so rare to get an anime comedy that actually gets me.
>Computer, mass produce the Big Zam
>Computer, disengage safety protocols
You absolute madman. You've doomed us all
Computer, display a record of everyone Char has betrayed
Why do we even have those safety protocols? They always malfunction anyway.
Does anyone actually still believe in the meme that 70s animation is bad?
I've been watching the bluray version of Mazinger vs The Great General of Darkness (Pretty good underrated movie on /m/), and Toei's animation . I know it's a movie but not your average tv episode, but I still find the claim to be overly exaggerating.
When people say that the original MSG 0079 has bad animation, I hope they understand that it wasn't great for its time either.
>>14861283
*from Toei animation
>>14861283
>Does anyone actually still believe in the meme that 70s animation is bad?
99,99% of 1970s TV animated shows have bad/cheap animation quality. So yeah the meme is factually correct.
1970s Japanese animated feature films are a different matter though. But TV budgets didn't allow for fancy things, like full 3d animated panning and zooming (one of the first sequences in Phoenix 2772). The film was obviously made in the late 1970s since it was released in early 1980.
Take Conan the future boy. It was a 26 episode late 1970s animated show. It puts to shame 1970s Lupin III episodes, and most mecha shows in the animation department. The team that worked on that had talent and money and you can see it. Mazinger Z isn't even in same league because of poor animation. It's really the cheapest of the cheapest animation.
>>14861283
Animation being good or bad, now and in the 40s, was a matter of time and budget. Nowadays computer animation makes it easier to hide crap animation, that's the only thing that changed.
Why is this series so overlooked?
lifelike texture
>>14861147
>Why is this series so overlooked?
For the same reason Tomino's Evangelion wannabe is. It came too late in the Evangelion craze. Although to be perfectly honest Rahxephon is one of the better ones with decent characters in the escatology genre.
>>14861147
I actually really enjoyed RahXephon, although I wish they explained more just who the Mulians actually are
Holy fucking shit, this show took a fucking swan dive into retard territory in the last three episode
>fate controlling engine
>super luck soldiers
>bitch straight up quits on the world because "you like killing people" bullshit
>fucking enemy dude is the rival's sister
>rival goes full retard
Escaflowne is a beautiful piece of machine though. Shame most kits cost 200 on Amazon
>fate controlling engine
>super luck soldiers
Don't those 2 happen like right after the halfway point, not near the end?
It is funny how the fate engine is so powerful that you can't do ANYTHING in its room without an equal but opposite reaction, hence Folken dying from his sword.
>>14860997
That was so stupid to be honest
I can swallow if Folken dies of a heart attack or the machines crumble onto him
But the tip of his sword breaks, bounces off the engine, and stabs him in the heart?
Fuck. That.
>>14861001
Again, equal but opposite reaction. The machine is the ultimate form of karma creation. Also I'm pretty sure he slashed Dornkirk, not the machine.
Not that it mattered, he already said to Hitomi that he had enhanced his body so much that he wasn't going to live longer than a month or so anyway.
FULL METAL PANIC IS SAVED

Cool. What's the format? TV?
HAPPENING

They're important on the ground. But obviously you should have more than two.

So is it safe to assume that the Albion crew was on Titan's ship #654156 that got blown up by Kamille and co?
>>14860223
Pretty safe. On the plus side, Captain Synapse had already committed suicide with some degree of dignity and Kamille probably blew up Monsha during the atmosphere drop to Jaburo so he was incinerated when his cockpit went from 30 degrees to 30,000 in the space of three seconds, so every cloud has a silver lining.
There's no real way to tell. though there is always the oldman Monsha look like in victory gundam.
>>14860314
That's honestly really sad if that were true. The Albion crew were basically innocent Federation soldiers who got caught up in some shady shit some of their higher ups who planning and paid the price by being forced to join the Titans simply because they wouldn't play party to it.
Makes you wonder if everybody in the Titans actually reveled in being facists or were just doing a 9 to 5 to make ends meet or put food on the table.
Now it's available and people have actually watched it, can we all agree that Toeizinger is superior to Nagai's manga in several ways?
Si senor
>>14859966
Could you specify the ways?
>>14859966
I will. The manga is for giant robots like what Mario is for video games or Golden Age Superman is for western comics. Not the first to do what it did and in retrospect reads more like a story template than a work unto itself, but it helped popularize things and it had infinitely more interesting spinoffs.
Toeizinger is like Super Mario RPG, very experimental, strange and rough around the edges in a way that future entries wouldn't be, and while not the best entry in the franchise, you'll likely go back to it more than the original because it does something different than the things you've seen thousands of times in other, better works
Favorite episode was that one where Kouji and that one kikaiju were just chilling out on a hillside because Doctor Hell forgot to give it a reason to fight
Why is Matsumoto such a lazy and pretentious douchebag?
Is it because he got the pretentious douchebag part off Tezuka? What about his laziness? Where does that come from?
>>14859639
Whenever I look at this pic of him I can only think of a Red Ribbon Army soldier/cyborg thanks to the red and black scheme and the small red thing on his beanie
>>14859639
Why do you keep making this same thread
>>14859639
>What about his laziness? Where does that come from?
Inner talent. People are just born that way.

GOLDEN SUWORDU!!
Can somebody explain to me the point of a cyber system on on a Cyber Formula car?
So far it seems like it's just meant to be a snarky infotainment system than being anything that might actually be useful.
I agree. Clearly this show was stupid and the whole thing should have been about race queens.
>>14858240
Given Fukuda's mindset, he probably should just work on kiddy stuff like Anpanman or something.
