Never watched the original gundam before. Should I watch the series or is the movie trilogy good enough? What does /m/ reccomend?
>>14022608
Watch from the start.
If you're going to half ass it, might as well just read the synopsis of every episode on the wiki and pretend you watched it.
>>14022608
Series, as you get more development and other material in general. The movies cut this down and add some new animation, but not a lot.
Movies make a good summation after you've watched the series.
Why is the protag of Zambot 3 so retarded?
He's a kid.
>>14021185
The other kids aren't retarded
Kappei's kind of just an average 70s Mech protag tbqh.

ask your girlfriend
Anyone play Mekton Zeta before? It's a mecha anime tabletop RPG. My brother gave me the PDFs and it looks fun. Thing is, I'm making my own setting and I want to come up with justifications for mechas being there other than it's cool.
My players don't want to do a super robot campaign, but want a "serious" campaign. Which is fine with me, because I've always wanted to come up with a sci-fi setting. I'm not going for 100% realism, but at the very least make up justified or excusable designs for mecha being used and the systems behind them and the setting.
Can I get some recommendations for books or movies that get really in depth with the technology or biology of their settings and beings? Maybe some relevant documentaries? I saw a book posted here before about the space colonies Gundam based the Sides on.
Thanks in advance.

There's not one.

You won't find any justification that holds up to deep scrutiny. However, as you're doing a Mekton game, I'll leave you with my masterwork:

>Bandai would impose power creep that'd make newer and more expensive kits be stonger than older or cheaper ones
>P-Bandai kits would be the strongest
>customization and modding/scratchbuilding would either be banned (including life long explusion from the league for using bootlegs like Dragon Momoko or Koto weapons) or made fragile and useless like in Beginning G
>actually, they were real because you could plug your Advanced Grade and GAGE-ing Builder Gundam AGE kits into the AGE arcade game. It flopped because AGE flopped and Bandai will never try it again despite Amiibo and Skylanders selling like hot cakes.
>gunpla battles died as soon as they were born
>Gunpla Battle is real.
>Hobbyshops with tables have long wait lines.
>They are flooded with people using nubby snapbuilds and unthinned square bottle testors enamel custom paint jobs.
>Tournaments are flooded with Turn A, 00, and Unicorn "Because they're the strongest".

>customization and modding/scratchbuilding would either be banned
Bandai loves that people make customs and kitbashes though as it means that they are buying more kits and supplies than just one. That's why they basically whore out how easy they've made it to customize and do things like throw big gunpla contests. They want people to make customs because it makes them more money.

Why didn't there shitty tech support fix that God damn window?
They were too preoccupied to mine materials.
>>14012896
They didn't have tech support to begin with.
>>14012896
They didn't know how and had no spare parts.
When the Protoculture died off. The Zentradi were left behind. Being produced at massive cloning satellites along with their ships, weapons, and equipment. The machines that made them programmed them to continue patrolling space for Supervision Army. So that is what they did.
The Protoculture didn't program the Zentradi to be able to maintain their own stuff, as a protection against having their guard dog bite them. So the Zents and Meltrans just kept using things until it wasn't usable anymore. When factory asteroids were lost, they just no longer had what ever it produced.

So I just finished Black and just started RX and I'm a little confused. What happened to Kyoko and Katsumi after Kotaro defeated Gorgom? Why did they not return to Japan to be with Kotaro? Who is the family he's living with? When Kotaro Refers to Shunkichi as uncle is it literal? Or did they just hire him? WHAT HAPPENED TO ROAD SECTOR AND RYUSUKE? Why does Kotaro seem more childish in RX? Is he a literal child of the sun? Is the Kingstone granting him the RX form a metaphor for him becoming the Century King?
Why does watching RX after Black feel reminiscent to watching ZZ right after Zeta?
Am I reading too much into this kids show?
>What happened to Kyoko and Katsumi after Kotaro defeated Gorgom?
They live in the States.
>Why did they not return to Japan to be with Kotaro?
Production reason. Characters change reason. Bugman can't love reason. Killer of my boyfriend/brother reason. You lied to us reason.
>Who is the family he's living with?
The family who picked him up while he was a wet puppy on the street.
>When Kotaro Refers to Shunkichi as uncle is it literal?
Not related.
>WHAT HAPPENED TO ROAD SECTOR AND RYUSUKE?
Trash can.
>Why does Kotaro seem more childish in RX?
Production change. Staff change. Writer change.
>Is he a literal child of the sun?
No, but his Kingstone might be.
>Is the Kingstone granting him the RX form a metaphor for him becoming the Century King?
No. A totally different thing. He just "evovled" with the stone.
>>13993507
>Why does watching RX after Black feel reminiscent to watching ZZ right after Zeta?
Watching retooled sequels always feels like that.
>Am I reading too much into this kids show?
Yes.
>>13993507
Look at this way. In Black Kotaro lost everything. In Black RX he found happiness with folks that accept him and a girlfriend.
Out of all the Gundam Series you've watched, out of all the Gundam episodes you've watched, What do you consider to be your favorite episode?
Just that one specific episode that really made an impact on you.
I'm gonna refrain from adding my opinion since I just finished rewatching 00 again, and the highs-&-lows are all still fresh in my mind.Setsuna attacking the Thrones was just as hype as the first time I watched it.
That episode where Ral leads an assault team into the Gundam and captures it, but Bright & Amuro capture it back.
Too many series, Too many episodes to even think of a favorite.
its hard to answer this question because of >>14020619, all I remember are specific scenes. To try to remember which episode has the most of the most memorable scenes is too difficult.
That said, for me it would probably be a tie between Turn A 40 because it is the best random-hijinks episode of the entire franchise, and Unicorn 01, because of the world-building and the pacing, and also because it had been a very long time since I had seen action that good, in any genre. I'm including the trailer as part of the episode, which I think people will probably remember here.
Dropped IBO on episode 17 after learning ep18 was more Kudelia Sugoi bullshit. I just need a yes or no answer from you people, have these 2 turned IBO from a pile of shit to a fine plate of poo in the loo cuisine?

One literally became a mobile suit.
ITT: Suit designs that should have been the main character's suit.
Sekai doesn't deserve any suit.

Newest ep of Active Raid dropping sometime today
How's the show so far?
>>14006617
I'm enjoying it. Good mix of police comedy hijinx and episodic story telling. Even for people who hated to the show, I'd have them at least watch episode 6 (the sad mecha homage ep)

Hide it somewhere where no one else can find it, pirate a bunch of engineering books and self-educate myself enough until I can figure out how machinery works so I can see what I can reverse engineer from it and become a billionaire by developing technology based off of it.
Duh.
