What word processors/text editors/writing software does /lit/ use?

And what do you use it for (writing, journalism, diary, notes, etc.)?

can we please stop patting ourselves on the back for reading

yes I'd like it if more people took the time to read books, but we don't deserve the high praise we give ourselves for it

I can recommend more if you want.
>>
>>8308349
Don't start with his books. Go:
Structure, Sign & Play
Différance
Signature Event Context
THEN read Of Grammatology

You could also try "Derrida" by Geoffrey Bennington. It's not exactly easy, but it's endorsed by Rorty and subtly endorsed by Derrida himself since he contributed to it ... even though his contribution calls into question Bennington's efforts ... it's kind of complicated. I recommend it though anyway.

Alright /lit/, I need a little bit of your help.

I'm writing a short story about a German citizen set right after WW1.

How can I get a plot twist working so that the reader doesn't know the protagonist is actually Adolf Hitler until the very last sentence? Would the story end right as the NSDAP is formed for the very first time (1923)?

Names would be important for one. And seeing that it's a post-modern WWI novel you're working on and not one during the war, that would actually be a bit more difficult, as you can't usually have the protagonist being called "soldier" this and "soldier" that.

Just throw clarity and honesty out the window.
>>
>>8308242
Yeah, true. I was thinking of making it just in first-person, and the whole thing is sort of just Adolf stating his thoughts on the situation and state of Germany. So like, there's no dialogue or anything like that.

I've been trying to avoid to use the word Germany, or anything related to Germany, making it seem as though it's some other country, but I can't really change some of the facts that are exclusive to Germany.

These companions aren't just fancy sparknotes, are they?

2 Kings 2:23-25

>Elisha Is Jeered
>23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

What did he mean by this?

It's not metaphor.

Some kids were mean to him and he wrote a fan fiction about them being mauled by bears.

There's some interesting shit in the Bible but there's also a fair amount of this shit too.

First you sell your soul. Then the torment begins.

The prize ... comes later.

Souls aren't the best bargaining chip. You can talk to demons about enlisting them for their aid, though.

Is there a way to argue that god does not want us to be happy? I'm thinking of Anselm from The Recognitions, or Pascal's idea of wretchedness.

Yes, but all arguments presuppose a God.

Why would you burden yourself with such a shaky philosophical starting point?

God is allmyghty
If God wants you to be sad he can do it
There is nothing you can do about it
You should still thank and praise God
