I went to Washinton DC with my IRL friends recently and I noticed that most of the security seemed to use revolvers rather than automatics, why is this? Aren't revolvers objectively inferior?
>>28372422
They are probably issued or mandated by an archaic as fuck security company.
>no slide will that might get caught or obstructed by door frames, shields, or any other obstacles
That's the only advantage that comes to mind.
>>28372442
Yep, it's the same way in Vegas with the Casino security. They mostly carry revolvers.
How effective a silencer would there be to put a balloon over the muzzle of the gun when you shoot?
wat
>>28372119
It would make it louder when the balloon does pop.
>>28372172
What if I fill the balloon with powdered sugar? The heat from the bullet will flash melt the sugar, thus reducing the sound to within its sugary bubble. Since the bullet is faster than the melting point of the sugar, it escapes before the sugar solidifies, but not before the sound wave does. Bonus is you can then eat the sugar for energy afterwards.

I'll go first: this is my cane sword. I picked it up second hand and can only assume that the stick figure etchings down the length represent all the people killed by this blade. The theory is that the owner ran out of room to etch his kills on the blade so he sold it. Seems antique. Anyone know the maker?

2/2 these etchings run the full length, both sides of the blade

2/2, this time with the pic
I was given this by my dad to hold on to. It's apparently WWII era from the features. The handle is loose though, if I were to disassemble it and reassemble. Most blade information would be on the tang as well, right?

What are the AKs to buy for $400-$500?
WASR
A time machine to 2011 when they were that cheap.
>>28371902
A used WASR is all you'll get for that price. IO inc AKs are literally death traps.
Save up and get a stamped DDI AKM for $700 or a new WASR for around $600.
What is /k/'s opinion about this thing?

Do you guys know if shotguns are allowed at public rifle ranges? Like using slugs? Or something else. Just curious
bump pls
>>28371334
Depends on where you're at. Some places have a shotgun lane for patterning but generally slugs are a no no because they tear up the target backers really fast. Each facility is different so the answer is depends.
Thank you
What would you consider the minimal set of firearms sufficient to protect the family of two at home, at work and on the road? I'm thinking of two compact hangunds for CC, and one full size hand gun with a big magazine for home defense. Been told that it would be a nice idea to get a shotgun, but ran out of time for the conversation and still trying to figure out how it would be superior to a full size handgun - any comments?
And, what things other than handguns will be useful for protection? Obvious choices would be knives and flashlights, anything else?
>>28371163
Make the handguns compact revolvers if you're first-time gun owners. I recommend the Ruger LCR.
Substitute a shotgun for the full size handgun.
Tasers, knives, and bludgeons all suck. Get big fat pepper foggers and carry them on your belt, not in your pocket.

Glock 19
Remington 870 or Mossberg 590

>Substitute a shotgun for the full size handgun
The question stands, why? Wouldn't it be more difficult to navigate the house looking for the intruder with the shotgun at ready instead of the handgun at ready? Do you fire from the hip in this case?
thinking of getting one in .357 as babby's first revolver
>>28371139
Do it!
>>28371139
I got my dad a good deal on a S&W 686, .357 are great for babby's first revolver.
I got an SP101 3" for my first revolver. It's really nice. Ruger revolvers have a reputation for being tough. Not sure about the LCR, though.

Is that an attachement? How many levels do I have to get to replace it with an underbarrel shotgun or m203?

Got this on trade today. How did I do? I'd say I have about $500 in it (gun and 2 mags)

That's a steal.
Is it one of the janky century ones?
Tell me about 5.82x42mm. Is it as good as the Chinamen say it is, or is it just another example of China Stronk?
it's a bullet.
it makes holes in people.
Nobody knows shit because nobody here is from the Chinaman army
>>28370699
No one seems to know yet. The bullet would seem to be slightly heavier than the .223 and the case would seem to have slightly less capacity.
I *am* puzzled as to whey they needed their own special snowflake round.

>state of the art 1911s
Okay I know I'll get shit for this but the design is well over 100 years old.
There is nothing new or state of the art about the 1911 or the Browning action. It's old and it works great but to say that there's something state of the art about it, is factually wrong.
