Hey /k/ i have a simple question.

AR-10 or FAL?

I need a battle rifle that I can use for hunting if need be. Im not biased for or against either of them, i just want your opinions.

If you want the leading edge in modularity, AR10

If you have the urge to wear short shorts and operate innnabush, FAL.
>>
>>28378745
I'd be willing to bet the AR10 would serve you better for hunting. Little lighter, and the rails are nice for optics.

And IIRC it's cheaper

Thanks guys. How does the reliability of the two compare? Ive heard that FALs are very reliable. And i know that gas piston ARs are also very reliable

Is there any reason I shouldn't buy a FiveseveN? (Cost not being a factor, I can pay for it)

If money isn't a problem you should buy an SBR p90 instead
>>
Better question is to figure out the things the FN has in its favor... Like... Maybe not blowing up...
>>
>>28378531
There's little practical utility for it. The cartridge only has a couple of loads available and isn't for novice reloaders.

If you don't mind it being a range toy or talking piece, then it's fine. But since AP ammo is hard to get/expensive (and of very limited utility to most civilians anyways) there isn't much use for the gun.

< INB4 do you use these

All of my blades are users. I just sharpened up the serrated Pacific Salt tonight, push cuts phone book paper.
>>
Why did you get the salt?
>>
>>28364777

My father is retired and owns a cabin cruiser boat (for those that care), he lives on it. I bought the Pacific Salt many years ago for Xmas for him as he cruised off...

...

Most online advice said to get an H1 (alloy) blade, preferably serrated blade. He beat this knife up for a year, said he used mostly the chisel ground tip. The serrations were a hindrance, I gave him a few more "boat knives".

A few years ago he gave it back to me when I visited him in the San Juan islands. I just sharpened it up tonight, it push cuts newsprint easily. It has the pined construction that I prefer on these, no liners, and is very light weight and totally rust proof.

The BCM KMR is a range toy. Shit can't take any abuse whatsoever.

>look guise so light weight
>wow so thin cool guys you can shoot real fahst
>alright we're gonna torture test it
>taps it lightly against wood beam. Completely fucking deforms it
>uh.. yeah it's still good. is greaht rail guise

>meanwhile DD rail gets shot with buckshot and survives.
>this is why you only see DD rails, and KAC rails in serious use if they know what their doing

tl;dr : KMR is a fragile piece of shit.

Yes- it would look a bit like the Pistola Con Caricato, just with different sized barrels and chambers.

Yes. It would be easier to just swap barrels and cylinders though.

War has changed.

It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines.

War--and it's consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine.

War has changed.

ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities.

Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…everything is monitored and kept under control.

War…has changed.

The age of deterrence has become the age of control, all in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction, and he who controls the battlefield, controls history.

War…has changed.

When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.

hey its Roger posting from my ThinkPad Edge (e530c w/ solid state hard drive added, yes im serious)

big news in USA Today today (i read it daily, sports section first)! one can only imagine they will put it in the water sometime in the 2040s which is operationally advantage because chinese dudes don't age like at all ("yellow dont mellow")(no offense)

anyway now that theyll have two carriers anytime (counting the one that can't go in the water) i was thinking it would be fun to brainstorm how this will enable their "blue force projection" which is navy jargon for driving your ship far away from port as opposed to "literal" warfare which is when you operate a bunch of fan boats and have to see the shore to navigate (looking at you isreal)(no offense) and thus can only figure out where you are when your second mate goes "literally that is the cape horn." (if you're wondering if i have a second mate, the answer is yes, pun intended)

so anyway as we all know there is a lot of disputed territory in that area and all of those asian dudes are trying to claim they own it (trump would just take it but that's another story for another day) and i'm wondering if this means china may actually use force soon (2040). TYPICALLY obama "criticized" the move which is basically him acknowledging that the last time he tried to talk to military men he went and created ISIS, and china probably knows that even though our generals are exremely competent they have been ordered to come up with battle plans on "global warming" ("don't get me started") and stuff like that so then who would step in to stop china ?

seems like england would have been an option but they're navy fleet is now just a couple of cargo ships filled with harriers. france is france and italy is italy and brazil sucks. that leaves germany, i guess, but all they do these days is put like 44 oxygen sensors on everything they build. What do YOU think?

Was there a wave of memes I managed to miss

Whenever I hear Americans talk about the F-15 they make it sound like some kind of superfighter, with the speed of an interceptor and the agility of a dogfighter.

Now, certainly, compared to modern fighters now it isn't true, but was it ever true? Or is the F-15 a whole lot of propaganda?

>>
>>28377434
"It is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat with the majority of the kills by the Israel Air Force."

Good enough for me.

Sure beat a fucking F-35 that stops working when it gets low on fuel because some brilliant asshat decided to use its fuel as a heat sink for all the whiz-bang electronics that make it awesome until the moment it deploys any ordnance and loses stealth.

It's good because it's used by well educated, higly trained pilots for specific missions in tandem with other aircraft and systems (things that usually dont get media attention because they're small and not as catchy as a fighter) to maximize mission efficiency and minimize risks.

What was wrong with the F-4?

Why wasn't it able to dominate the skys of Vietnam?
39 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
In part because the USAF underestimated the abilities of older Soviet aircraft, and in part because the Civilian administration under Johnson was never really willing to take the gloves off and fight the Vietnamese full-force since there was a perceived threat of Chinese or Soviet intervention.

So long story short I fired my 12 gauge without my ears. A mistake of course (they fell off and I didn't notice)

My ears have been ringing for about 15 minutes and counting. Is this going to go away when I sleep, in a couple of hours or am I fucked?

>Is this going to go away when I sleep, in a couple of hours or am I fucked?
Yes, I've shot shotguns without hearing protection plenty of times, it'll go away shortly.
Rifles are much louder and handguns even louder than that.
I can't shoot a rifle or hand gun without hearing protection at all, it's just too dangerous.
Even a shotgun is too loud to safely shoot repeatedly though so don't do it again.
>>
Should be alright. Be lucky it wasn't a handgun. I had my ears off talking to my cousin while looking at some targets down range, and he pulled his sidearm out and popped one off parallel to my left ear. Still ringing 6 months later
>>
>>28377321
50/50 chance of being fucked for good.
