Let's post some outlandish looking race guns ITT. I'm not particularly concerned with their overall functionality or the quality of the parts used, just post some really weird looking guns. I'll start off with a few I just got from googling "race gun".
The reason, if anybody is interested, is that I just started getting into USPSA shooting. I haven't shot my first match yet but I've taken the class and watched a few of the matches, and some of those guys look like they're packing fucking alien ray guns. Having been raised in a family of hunters and only just gotten into pistol shooting in the last year or so, I've never seen this kind of stuff before and I'm wondering what else is out there.
As a side note, I'm really nervous about shooting actual matches. I could definitely be a better shot and I get performance anxiety especially with a bunch of strangers watching me. I know the rules and what will be expected of me but if anybody has any tips or anything else to put my mind at ease, it'd be much appreciated.

Are these raceguns for ants?
Hey guys. Looking into building a 6 inch 1911
I have 0 experience on building 1911s. I was wondering if I could buy a 1911 lower, build it up and put a 6 inch slide on it or if I have to order a long slide lower if there is such a thing.
Full disclaimer I am pretty drunk and just started researching while watching John Wick
Also sexy long slide general thread I suppose
no it would be bad just like a regular 1911.
its 2015 get a glock.
>>28371628
I am fully aware of the advantages of a glock. Unfortunately I live in a shitty state (NY) where mag capacity means nothing
I carry a full size 1911 daily so clearly I like them. Glock is in the works at some point

>dumping water on someone's face
Why do people bitch and moan about this "torture"?
>>28369084
I tried it with my neighbor. Fucking sucks ass. I'd rather take getting beaten with a bat anyday.
>>28369084
Because It simulates drowning you dumb fuck.
>has never been water boarded or been near to drowning
Have someone try it on you. Make sure you're lying back on an incline, and the shirt or whatever is already soaked.
I guarantee a little trickle of water down your nose, and you're gonna panic. Now try it with entire buckets of water, for hours at a time.
It's fucking unpleasant at best, horribly terrifying at worst. It can also be dangerous.
Trying to gauge /k/'s sentiments on the EOTech lawsuit.
Will you be returning your EOTech sight(s) due to the recent findings of USSOCOM and the FBI?

>By early 2006, Defendants knew that their sights failed to perform as represented. At hot and cold temperatures, the sights experienced a condition known as “thermal drift,” meaning that the sight’s point of aim differed from its point of impact. EOTECH’s own internal tests showed that some models experienced drift of 6 to 12 minutes of angle (“MOA”), i.e., 6 to 12 inches per 100 yards. Even though EOTECH’s contracts with DOD required disclosure of any information concerning the reliability of the sights, EOTECH did not disclose this defect to DOD until 2015, after the FBI discovered the problem and presented its findings to EOTECH.
>In 2007, Defendants became aware of a separate performance failure in cold temperature, known internally as “cold weather distortion.” At around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the sight’s aiming dot became distorted, affecting accuracy by 12 MOA, increasing to 20 MOA at 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Defendants did not disclose this defect from DOD for more than a year, until EOTECH had a fix in place. EOTECH then presented the fix as an upgrade to a product that conformed to specifications, and did not disclose that the entire stock of sights that DOD had purchased since 2004 was defective.
Thoughts?

>Will you be returning your EOTech sight(s) due to the recent findings of USSOCOM and the FBI?
>Buying Eotechs
Kek. This formally vindicates what shooting instructors, veterans, and large parts of the shooting community have been saying for years.
The only reason people bought Eotechs was because of blind worship of SOF equipment, and they couldn't wrap their brains around the idea that even operators get issued equipment that might not be their preference, and that equipment is purchased by bureaucrats.
>>28369043
>they couldn't wrap their brains around the idea that even operators get issued equipment that might not be their preference
That's the dilemma, though:
For me, target acquisition is significantly with an EOTech compared to an aimpoint. I much prefer the wider field of view and the more details hologram.
It sucks because nobody else offers an optic with a similar wide field of view + detailed hologram. The only one on the market appears to be defective, and the company that makes them appears to be in the business of putting combat personnel in harm's way.

significantly faster**
Are these masks safe to use? How long do the filters last once out of the package?
Don't know and would not recommend risking it. If you're willing to spend thousands of dollars on your AR or whatever, it's optics and all tacticool shit you've bought incase of SHTF but aren't willing to buy a brand new CBRN -rated masks with extra filters for yourself and your family you are a moron who deserves to die coughing blood due to mustard gas..
If it's VX masks don't protect shit since that stuff can be absorbed through skin..
>>28368128
I'm worrying about tear gas, and possibly mustard since ISIS has mustard.

>In 2016 Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will begin to promote the Uran-9 combat multipurpose robotic system in the international market. The Uran-9 is designed to provide remote reconnaissance and fire support to combined arms, recon and counter-terror units. It consists of two recon and fire support robots, a tractor for their transportation and a mobile control post.
>The armament of the recon and fire support robots includes the 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon, a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and Ataka ATGMs. The armament mix may vary depending on customer requirements. The robots are fitted with a laser warning system and target detection, identification and tracking equipment. The Uran-9 will be particularly useful during local military and counter-terror operations, including those in cities. Its use will significantly reduce personnel casualties.

This is a small rant, but its quite stunning to see what happens when even underfunded (by US standards) defense depts focus on warfighting instead of social experiments and climate change. Every technological advantage we've had over the past century is being wiped out in pursuit of "sensor fusion" and "information superiority". Has anyone asked what happens if that card fails? What happens if we're deaf and blind because of enemy activity?

Do you understand that a little pet project doesn't represent the military as a whole.
Ask yourself if the Russian military is so advanced that they've developed UGV's then why are most of their aircraft dropping unguided munitions and why the average soldiers pay is $80 a month.
>Every technological advantage we've had over the past century is being wiped out in pursuit of "sensor fusion" and "information superiority"
What do you think is being wiped out?

Its 'stunning' to see them develop things that have existed for years and will be jammed into being large paperweights during actual WARfighting, not COIN? Thats 'stunning' to you?
Look up SWORDS or MAARS. Hell, even Black Knight UGV.
The US army seems to have real issues procuring new shit lately
But I guess all their procurement funding has gone to mraps & strykers
Because the retards show up to wars armed with nothing but trucks and humvees, then are astonished when their supply convoys get ambushed...
Ruger mini 14. Would like some oppinions on the mini 14 and pictures. I am considering buying one.
I have a 10/22, I love the gun but I hated the stock on it, anyone got any good aftermarket stocks for the mini 14?
>inb4 get an ak or ar, I live in europe.
>>28366229
I already have a shopping list for what I will buy once I get my gun permits and Ruger mini 14 is one of them. Along side an AK and an AR..
And I'm also an europoor.
>>28366229
Get the newer 580 series of Mini's, the old ones were susceptible to overheating and accuracy problems.
As for aftermarket stocks, this is the only stock the Mini-14 needs
>>28366251
Good thing it just looks like a piece of shit and not a scary ass halt weapon.

That's the thread right here. We can all go home now.
Recently bought another AR. Spouse not so happy about it, cause we've been saving for a house. She see's the rifle as a thousand dollars being flushed away. Cried. Then brought up the $$$$ I spend for ammunition. Then the WHY!'s, and trying to make me feel bad, and etc etc etc
>>28364328
>ANOTHER ar
>thinking gun>house
So you're spending money on a hobby when it sounds like you're saving for a much needed house? It's not like you're even buying a gun for defense, just "another" AR to toy with. You are the kind of spouse/parent that makes me sick. Fuck, my step father was the same way but with drugs. Get a grip on what's important you shitter.
>>28364338

I DO drive an old hoopty, solely because it allows a lot more funds for /k/ things.
Good thing she don't ask what the scopes and optics cost.

Stay dedicated to my training schedule. And by that I mean achieve 10km in sub 45 minutes by may 2016. Drink less, sleep more. 2016 is shaping up to be a boring but productive year. What about you op?
Been confused but this stormtrooper in the movie pulls out the anti jedi weapon which is deployed ready for use.
Then he spins it around into the same position??? What was the purpose of spinning it around from a weapons standpoint if the weapon is already deployed? Is this an implication like the old west where they spun their weapons around during battle to psych out the enemy by blowing their minds?
>>28373873
Becase jayjay is a fucking hack director who couldn't cheorograph and direct a fight scene if his goddamn life depended on it.
It's kinda like when Jedi whirl their blade around when they activate it.
It doesn't do anything, it just looks cool on film.
>>28373889
Stop being a little bitch.
>28373873
Because it looks cool
Bought a c96 and the safety is non functional if anyone is willing to help me solve the problem please help.
>>28373603
Take it apart and see why it's not working.
Take it to a gunsmith. Don't risk fucking up a piece of history trying to fix it yourself.
>>28373603
You may want to consult an exploded diagram of the C96 to see which part has failed. If you can afford a C96, you can afford to spend 30 seconds on google
So I just graduated with a degree in theology

Yeah yeah yeah, I know.
So my question is this, I'm thinking of joining the military, and to be clear, I am not a pacifist. I am not against killing people under the right circumstances. It is my duty as a Christian to rid the world of evil. If you read the bible it is literally packed from cover to cover with hardcore men of war who fought, and died, for what they believed in. I am debating on if I should join as 11X or 03xx, or apply for a Chaplain position. My college did not offer an ROTC program, but I did all 4 years of JROTC and honor guard. I cannot seem to find much information on Chaplains in modern military service. I know they exist, but what do they do? I dont want to be locked in some administration building baptizing recruits newborn babies in a sink, or driving a desk, or being a glorified counselor. If I am in that position I would like to be in the shit with the men on the frontline, and again, I am not opposed to picking up a weapon. I am in good shape, and experienced with the AR platform already. Is there suck a thing as a "combat Chaplain" or something of that nature?
Thanks for your help
Bump
>>28368143
Well, chaplains are officers, so there's that.
Pretty sure I've seen this thread before
I was about to "upgrade" my factory sight on the PPS but before putting down some money I'm not sure if night sight are really necessary, useful or they just looks cool. If I was about to get mugged at night probably is going to be on a short distance and I wouldn't be able to aim down sight.
Are night sights really necessary?
I don't recommend the Meprolight Tru-Dots. The ones they make for the PPS are worse than stock in anything but pitch black. I'm have them on mine now, but I'm going to try Trijicon HD's next. The only complaint I've heard about them is they are sharp and bother some people that CC.

I don't care too much, I'm sure she'd still be a hell of a lot of fun to hang out and shoot with off camera.
Shit's always awkward on film, which is why I just wear glasses with a built in camera usually. You catch the "real" moments of the day because you aren't constantly thinking about the camera.
