In the American Civil War and after. The Cavalry was fighting with firearms and maybe sabers. They also tended to function as dragoons.
In WW1. The British Cavalry was still fighting with lances as their primary weapon.
Why were the British Cavalry behind the curve? They had even better repeating arms and knowledge of what machine guns and bolt action rifles did.
>>28379849
Fighting with guns?!!!
We are cavalry, not the bloody yeomanry, plebs...
>>28379849
Even though the world at large sent military observers, none of the lessons learned towards the end were taken to heart, even when we started to see trench warfare like at Petersburg.
The main takeaway for the Prussians was the use of railroads, the bongs just gave the rebels a bunch of guns in exchange for cotton, and France didn't really care.
At the outbreak of WW1, French, German, and UK cav alike still used swords and lances, but also had mounted infantry with carbines, which your Lancers, Cuirassier, and Uhlan regiments all adopted when they realized machine guns were a thing.
>>28379964
The Bongs should have known better since the Boer Wars were not that long ago.
The British should have know perfectly well what WW1 was going to be like.
How to modernize this beauty?

>>28380651
By adding double delta wing configuration, targetting pod and IFR

What about the radar? Seems like you'll have to redesign the entire nose of the aircraft.
So, I know that the cheap steel cased ammo is obviously inferior to other FMJ. But is there any difference between, say, WWB or Remington UMC? How about slavshit brands like Prvi partisan or S&B? Is academy's monarch brand decent? I shot it once, and it was kind of dirty and a few fte's, but I had nothing to compare it to.
Is the extra money worth it for the big name brands? Or should I just get what's cheap, and save the hand-picking for the defense ammo?
Pic related. I understand TMJ will be a bit cleaner, but is it worth the extra 5-6 bucks a box?
>>28379715
Tulammo comrade.
>>28379720
I don't trust steel cased ammo in anything but milsurp (as that's what it is designed for).
We're talking about using a high quality firearm, and you want to preserve the barrel life as long as possible.
>>28379715
>But is there any difference between, say, WWB or Remington UMC?
They're nearly identical. Being shit that is.
Get lawman, blazer brass, and or geco. It really doesn't matter but these are miles fucking better than perfecta/umc/wwb or whatever bullshit you see laying around wally world.
Also they're cheaper if you know where to look.
Why doesn't Britain have any land based ICBMs?
>>28379700
not enough space to put them
We don't have enough warheads to justify spending the billions needed to create the facilities
Expensive to maintain a triad
If shit gets hot they have enough to ruin somebody's day anyway.
Would it not be a good idea to have some road mobile ICBMs to ensure second strike capability? If the one patrolling sub is sunk or destroyed then the nuclear deterrent is gone.
I mean having 5-10 road mobile launchers like the Russian Topol M with a high yield warhead (say 2Mt) that can be used against your opponents cities.
Does it still exist? To what extent?

Armyfag here. No

No, and even attempting it is a very good way to end up on the shit list.
Who is winning?
Who is fighting who again? Does this really qualify as a war?
Isis is killing everyone, Syrians are getting slaughtered. And Iraqis are fleeing for their lives. The kurds are fighting isis and holding ground. The Iranians are fighting isis to look good and hopefully acquire more land for Shia iranians. The Russians are helping the Syrians only to have a bigger global in print and fucking wrecking isis. The US has flights dropping bombs and drones but it's shit compared to Russias aggressive attacks. Turkey is secretly helping isis, and kuwait is too, from private organizations. Saudi Arabia is also involved with funding isis. Jordan is fighting isis with air strikes. The Syrians just want everything to stop but Obama has a hard on to supply terrorists in syria to fight the assad regime but these are rebel fighters that we supply are getting WRECKED by Russia/Syria/Isis.
>>28379454
The MIC is winning.
How people don't see this whole situation is entirely contrived by TPTB is beyond me.
Explosions in Dubai
Happy new years.
Remember that the next time someone says something akin to "Only cops should have guns, I feel safe when only they do", you should remind them that being a cop is literally just a day job and by no means implies the person is morally a better person nor more capable than a civilian who is carrying.
Detroit used to (and still has, quite honestly) have very low police numbers and would regularly try recruiting kids out of high-school with promises of easy training and stable income.
or mention the stupid low requirements when someone mentions police/military firearms training.

this
>>28379455
Can you elaborate?
What exactly went wrong in (gif related) what caused the mortar to malfunction?
>>28379406
Spiked round, probably.
Spiked ammo.
Deliver rigged ammo to your enemies.
Let them kill themselves and distribute it amongst other bad guys
idk but its fun to watch
Show me them purdy 1911's
>>28379773
Why do i want to finger fuck that one so bad?

>>28379157

Doesn't look American, so probably not British either. French or Italian maybe
What are you guys doing for the /k/ube today?
>>28379138
Richfags will know what that mount is for.
>>28379132
Picked up a .22 conversion kit for my P229, and will go do some dryfire practice (with the 9mm slide on it) later.
Ain't gonna make it to the range today, the /k/ube will have to be satisfied with what I'm doing.
/k/ why does my cat try and eat tannerite, it literally sits by my stash trying to eat it
He seeks to gain it's power.
Shoot cat, post results
>>28379052
Have you ever tried eating tannerite yourself? it's delicious.
What does /k/ think of replicas? I always wanted a Springfield 1903 and its hard not to find a used one that isn't trash. The Gibbs 1903 might be a good alternative. Or am I a big dumb stupid head for thinking about it?
>>28379048
You are dumb. There are tons of them that are not trash. A Gibbs model will only depreciate in value too
>>28379048
>What does /k/ think of replicas?
So long as they're shootable copies that stay true to the design, I'm all for them.
>>28379048
disgusting
I just got back from the range and some guy was telling someone you have to clean your gun everyday wether you shoot it or not. That can't be true can it? Won't it mess up the gun. Should I have called him out on it because I started second guessing myself
No, that's fucking retarded. You don't even have to clean your gun every time you shoot it, but I do. I think cleaning is fun.
>>28378931
>That can't be true can it?
No, that's retarded.
Do you take your car through the car was every day too?
>>28378931
No. But you could clean it every time you shoot it depending on the gun.
Glocks? No. 1911's? Probably.
Should you clean your gun every day? Absolutely unnecessary. You might want to clean it every couple months or so if you don't use it, just to prevent rust and gunk etc. But even that's not completely necessary.
Can anyone help me find out what kind of dagger this is? Where it's style comes from, if it may be legitimate, and what the symbol on the blade is? I bought it from am antique store up in Michigan, if it helps.
Up close shot of the symbol.
