Lets say you are the Chief of the Ordnance Corp during a dire conflict.
>You desperately need weapons to arm your soldiers, raw materials and funds are in short supply.
>You have access to the schematics and tooling to any firearm that has ever been designed.
What firearm would you would put in production for your general infantry that is both capable and efficient resource wise?
>Bonus: what would you produce for these specific categories?
>pistol
>light machine gun
>designation marksman rifle
>sniper rifle
Hardmode:
>you are in charge of arming the Volksturm in late 1944, and have access to any designs and tooling up to 1945, what do you choose?
Discuss.

Nothing short of God coming to Earth himself could have given the Third Reich victory. They had no way to win even if they weren't run by loons.
The cheapest/best gun out there is the AR-15. You can run a CNC machine out of a garage.
>pistol
I wouldn't
>Lmg
Ares Shrike
>DMR
18" AR-15
>Sniper rifle
I wouldn't

I know, just curious as to what people would choose.
Legitimate /k/ question here…
How feasible is pic related? I mean, Doom takes place way in the future, where there are handheld WMD’s and plasma weapons. Hell, even the standard pistol basically fires superheated plasma using some sort of disintegrating gel cartridge.
Would a belt-fed .50 caliber assault rifle make sense in the far-off future as a standard weapon? For the sake of the argument, we can assume that weapon technology has improved greatly, so we can mitigate the inherent problems that a modern weapon system might have with a handheld 50 BMG machine gun like recoil management, weight, & accuracy. Could it be feasible?
>>30201081
You're failing to take into account how much the ammo itself weighs. Yeah you could probably shrink a platform down to shoot .50 BMG into something that's fine to carry, but carrying any worthwhile amount of ammo is what will be the killer.
I'm sure a .50 can be redesigned with less power to allow more ammunition to be carried, but it will still be heavy as fuck. Do you think you're going to reload 50 rounds of .50 BMG with you off hand?
>>30201081
>How feasible is pic related?
Lets see..
boullets>
yes
>canon
yeees
>Space for firing mechanism
yes.
So... I guess I can say that there is 90% probability that is feasible.
But, is feasable the feasibility of the feasable technology for such a gun without implementing it somewhere else more efficiently?
now thats the question.
It makes sense in Doom where 15 ft tall demons are standard encounters, its needless IRL when a .338 belt fed (if you really have your mind set on big bullet) would do the same thing but lighter and more compact munitions.

Who here can tell me about the Marine's Special Forces? Anyone with any experience? I'm going to be a marine when I finish school, like every other man in my family, but I want to pursue special operations. Any tips, or differentiation between force recon and battalion? Or Raider experience?

No advice except make sure that you can swim gud, land navigate with a map and compass alone, you have excellent cardio, and you're strong as hell. Obviously you better be a excellent marksman.
If you don't have any experience with this, hit up your local school that has a ROTC program. They have land nav courses, and you can contact your local sheriff to get certified.
Woodland firefighting is a great way to get in shape for the military. Paramedic training is great too, if you want to be a reservist marsoc.
You're probably good at all this stuff since it's a family thing, but if not take classes. Take a swimming class, a cycling class for cardio, a yoga class to improve your flexibility and resistance to injury, and a weight-lifting class to improve your gains.
Don't do it and switch over to army, go Rangers, actually do shit
>>30201020
if youre recon that goes marsoc indoc the recon cadre marsoc instructors will treat you better than non recon inductees.
lots of "squared" away Admin Marines will go to your marsoc unit so you have a lot of drill instructors in your support companies so actuall marsoc team people will be constantly yelled at by these drill instructors for their low regs, marsoc issued gear, and why field day and rosters were perfectly done.

Hi /k/,
I recently got into this topic of 3D printed guns and i want to know your opinion, not just about if they are efficient, but if its okay for people to have the oportunity to just download and print a gun. I found out this FP 45 Liberator gun (which is by my opinion already pretty interesting) and than its 'sibling' 3D printed gun called liberator. The first liberator was originally intended as an insurgency weapon to be mass dropped behind enemy lines to resistance fighters in occupied territory. The pistol was valued as much for its psychological warfare effect as its actual field performance. It was believed that if vast quantities of these handguns could be delivered into Axis-occupied territory, it would have a devastating effect on the morale of occupying troops. And i belive theres somehow similar story behind this new liberator, but i just cant find it. Redpill me, please if you are familiar in this topic.
Thanks
They're shit.
>>30200896
But is there any potential?
But i guess I'm mainly interested in your opinion about their availability.
>>30200911
They are good for like 1-2 shots max. There are better options but fuck it still kind of cool to 3D print a gun. Regardless I would only shoot once.

I've read lots of accounts of D-Day stating that the beaches were supposed to be heavily shelled before the invasion to create cover for the invading troops. But this never happened and soldiers were shocked to be met with a flat untouched beach with no cover.
Is it possible the beaches weren't shelled on purpose to prevent soldiers from hiding in shell holes and refusing to advance?
>>30200723
No, it's because the bombers missed that all the shells fell short into the water, making massive underwater craters to drown in.
Plus, they succeeded in this concept in places other than bloody Omaha, partially why the beach earned the reputation.
>>30200723
Allies fired a literal storm of rockets but they all did fuck all, I bet if at least half of them hit they would of had some cover.

also what /k think about the golden division? are they operator enough?

>>30200610
They're better regular Iraqi army, but they still are shit at reacting to ambushes and they still abandon quite a bit of equipment. They're also in danger of being rendered combat ineffective as a unit since they're losing more guys than they can train replacements for

I have been looking for a quality 1918 pattern Trench Knife Repro but I cant find one.
They are either 20$ and made from pot metal or they are 400-600$(and i cant afford to spend that on a knife).
Does anyone know where i can buy a functional Reproduction.
daily reminder that your stabby stabby is just a pointy piece of metal and the "brand" and "model name" are just meaningless words attached to it to make you give them money
the type of steel doesn't even matter because even with a good knife you're going to have to sharpen it and oil it under use anyway
>>30200751
also there's basically zero chance that you're actually going to stab anyone with it, or multiple people with it
Daily reminder that he can spend his money on whatever the fuck he wants at whatever price point and quality level for whatever reason.
How does one determine the best bullet grain for its gun?
I have a Colt M4 14,5" and I am about to buy some bulk 55 grains Sellier & Bellot because it's cheap AF but before I buy in bulk I am wondering if I shouldn't experiment with grains and such...
Can you enlighten me /k/ ?
>>30200513
Based on barrel twist rate.
>>30200513
W/ 55 grain shouldn't it be a 1/7th twist?
>>30200527
Is there a conversion table per twist rates and caliber ? or somethign similar ?
Why aren't Hot Air Balloons used as /k/
They're quiet and can be painted blue to camo against the sky. If it's shot down you can just parachute out. They're also way less expensive than a helicopter and essentially do the same thing for recon
Are we watching the evolution of Gliderfag's insanity here, folks? Gliderfag 2: Hot Air Redux?
don't know if you've ever been around a hot air balloon, but they're not quiet when the burner is on. and you have to fire the burner fairly regularly to maintain altitude.
You become a slow moving target
