Anyway i'd imagine you could just head down to your local office supply store and get a poster or something printed of whatever you want to shoot.

I dont have nor have to room for machining equipment. Pretty much just have a vise and hand tools. Are freeze plugs my only hope or is there a simpler and maybe quieter means of suppression?

Maybe im worrying too much. I dont need the most sound suppressing can in the world, its mainly just to stop me from going completely deaf if I need to use it in an emergency. Its my home defense gun and goes with me when going out of town

Could arrows with wood points and duct tape fletching (pic related) kill small game?

I'm thinking of a WTSHTF scenario where I need to make these arrows to survive.

(IE I have run out of bullets, my regular arrows are broken, I need to use these for frogs or fish to not damage my arrows etc.)

Let me know... I don't want to go out and wound animals, but if these would work, I want to buy the dowels to be ready

>>
If you're that bad off, just make an atlatl. I don't even think you need fletchings then.
As for whether or not sharpened sticks would work, yes. But you want to fire harden the points, and use a hardwood. Dowels are made out of pine usually, which is a soft wood.
>>
>>30208750
slingshot would be better (smaller, ammo is marbles/stones/whatever). the pocketshot is quite interesteing though if i get one i'll nigrig a traditional handle for it. it can do arrows as well witha whisperbiscuit but apparently not massively well.
>>
>>30208750
YES. Blunt wooden arrows were used to kill small game without damaging the hide.

You are in charge of a private military organization.

What is your overall purpose or direction? IE: Security, Mercenary group, full on army for hire.

What kinds of clients do you work for.

How large is your organization (Single team to army without a nation)

What is your equipment and training like?

So /k/, I'm a relatively new gun owner and have a question about weapons firing 5.56 and .223. Pic related is my grandfathers AR-15 he build from an 80% lower. And its since then been handed down to me.

This gun is marked for .223 and 5.56, and as far as I understand, they are both the same caliber and everything, but 5.56 is a "overpowered" cartridge that shouldn't be fired out of a gun marked specifically for .223 because it will put unnecessary strain on the gun. But why even manufacture .223? What are the pros? And being that .223 is around, why don't people just manufacture parts to withstand a 5.56 cartridge so that you can shoot both? Anyone have any insight or know about the history of these cartridges? And over all, which one should you shoot given you have a gun that can handle both?

.223 came first, but lol imperial so for NATO compliance they made it metric. To get better performance they upped the gunpowder and made the bullet a hair bigger.

A 5.56 rifle can shoot .223, but it may slightly less optimal than a 5.56

You aren't supposed to shoot 5.56 out of .223
..223 parts can be made cheaper due to resisting less pressure, but since ARs are a dime a dozen you will honestly find it cheaper just to buy an AR they can handle 5.56 rather than a mini-14 or something that only does .223

In America you can find .223 and 5.56 easily at your local Walmart.
>>
>>30208667
Not "overpowered" more pressure per specs in 556.

Shoot whichever you want, usually you find 223 cheaper

How effective were German armament/vehicles in the early part of WW2?
Theres a thread on reddit about this, most upvoted answers are implying all the German equipment sucked and the only reason that Germany was able to make large gains was from dumb luck. I don't think that answer makes sense.

Were German tanks, aircraft, small arms much better than the opposition? What about the professionalism of the German military and its tactics?

>>30208381
They were certainly better in some aspects, but as the war went on they were drained of resources and production. Plus allies technology wasn't that far behind in some places, or even ahead in some.
>>
Is 'german stuff was unreliable shit' a meme?

Seems like the stuff was the same as allied stuff but suffered from fuel shortages and replacement part trouble due to allied bombing more than the actual vehicles having drastically incorrectly made components.

German AFVs for the most part had wildly disproportionate kills to losses.

First of all, to get it out of the way
>Reddit

That said, German tanks at the start of the war were absolute garbage when compared to their competitors. Little armor, TIIIINY guns (they started the war with tanks whose main armament was either a machinegun or a 20mm autocannon, who were never desired to see combat, but instead be training tanks). They did have one key advantage, which was the cause of their success- each and every tank had a radio and their commanders were well trained. The advantages in maneuvering this gave led to all of Germany's victories in the early war. They outmaneuvered their opponents on the operational level. This was only possible due to the speed and coordination of its panzer divisions.

Their planes were pretty good. Infantry equipment was decent. Artillery was sufficient as well.
