Let's hear about the best deals you've come across. I'll start with mine. I've posted it once before but it was 9 months ago when I got it.

>older gentleman passed away. Had a huge collection and his family decided to auction it off.
>there were 15ish shotguns, 12ish rifles, 10 "foreign military rifles" and like 65 revolvers
>auction website didn't know jack shit about the 10ish milsurp rifles he had and only took pics of a few (beat up type 99 Arisaka, beat up Turk mauser and an SKS) so I didn't really know what was all there.
>get to auction. In addition to what I stated, there was a totally hacked up no4 Enfield, a few sporterized Mosins and a beautiful M96 Swedish Mauser. All matching, no import mark, bore looks perfect, a few small dings in the stock so like 9/10 condition. Had a cleaning rod but no sling.
>was really interested in that Mauser and Arisaka, but the bore on the Arisaka looked like a sewage pipe so my interest nosedived.
>of course the milsurp rifles go last so I have to hang out for a couple hours while people grossly overpay for all these revolvers.
>crowd gradually thins out
>M96 comes up
>bid opens at $200
>random guy bids
>I bid $225 immediately after
>nobody else bids so I win
>buy the Hornady dies and 100 soft point bullets later for $30 total and buy 120 rounds for like $90 (overpaid a little bit but damnit I wanted the rounds and the brass)
So yeah. That's my story. I also bought a mostly matching M39 in beautiful shape aside from some very minor bore pitting for $270 in February, got a spam can for $110 from the guy too.

What do you guys think about the effective range of weapons? Does the length of a weapon truly increase it, as in the case between M16 and M4, or do you think this is just another "meme" like I've heard the stopping power of .45 or reliability of Kalashnikov to be?
