What is /k/'s opinion of the NY compliant ARs from a practical perspective? Like, I've never operated one but they look to me like they'd be pretty good for going prone with a bipod, the ones I've seen atleast.

So it's pretty much commonly accepted that using a pistol in a rifle fight isn't very wise. Militaries don't take them seriously for infantry use. Sidearms are only sometimes carried for the unlikely off chance that someone's rifle suffers a catastrophic malfunction and cannot be put back into the fight. Because of that, I'm wondering why they issue full-sized pistols to soldiers. Subcompact pistols are only slightly less accurate and have a marginally shorter sight radius. They are lighter, smaller, and lethal. Why carry a full size (sometimes even larger with extended barrels and higher combat sights) pistol when you can opt for something more maneuverable and lighter?

A glock 26 is probably just as good for a backup as a glock 19, I'll give you that. The beretta and all the other pistols they've issued until now don't have smaller versions that have been proven to be just as reliable.
>>
Literally because the army already has Beretta's

The army doesn't give two shots about us.

Kinda miss that knife.

Have had one since 2007. Other than the serrations getting a little fucked on a rock, its held up perfectly through years of camping, kitchen work, and general purpose abuse.

Now that was one from 2007. The ones made currently could be completely different and total shit.

So, /k/, What standards do you think someone should meet if they're to be useful in a militia unit. not some loloperator Michigan bullshit, I mean a legit militia that could stand on it's own.
Physical fitness standards, things they should be able to do with their weapon or equipment, skills or knowledge they should have?
Any training they should have, or you would recommend?

Pic definitely not related.

Kek. I could give you advice as a prior infantryman but it's pretty common knowledge. Take a look, it's in a book.

I've been on the lookout for a gun that I can get away either pocket carrying or IWB carrying, so I hit up a rental range today and found I really liked the XD-S in 9mm, but now I'm being told I'm an idiot for not pocket carrying a Glock 19 or a VP9 on top of being told that XDs suck. Do people actually pocket carry double-stack guns?

>>
>>30210549
Some people do but it's painfully obvious for anyone to know what it is if they're slightly familiar with the shape of a gun and happen to be looking in that area for some reason.
If the people around you aren't looking for a gun they tend to go un noticed even though you think it might stick out. I went a full month with my girlfriend not knowing I had a p938 in my pocket when we first started dating. She knew i had shit in my pockets and that I didn't like her putting her hands in my pockets, but she didn't know it was a gun until she asked about cc weapons of choice and I pulled the p938 out.
>>
>>30210643
Also having my vp9 in my pocket feels incredibly uncomfortable and the grip tends to stick out because I don't wear crazy oversized clothing. I think even a Glock 26 is to big for comfortable all day every day pocket carry even though I would prefer the higher capacity compared to the 7 rounds in my sub compact
>>
>>30210683
That's what I thought, the whole idea of being told that a single-stack isn't enough for pocket carry seemed ludicrous.

Any opinions on Springfield's XDs?
