Are you more of a handgun guy or a rifle guy? What is your favorite guns to take out when you go shooting?

I'm personally more fond of handguns, rarely like to shoot my ar and ak

I practice more with my handguns because I have to drive 2 hours out to shoot beyond 25 yards with my rifle. I feel like being very proficient with my handguns that I carry daily is pretty damn important.

Whatever the situation requires. Have you ever tried to take a dump while having a 20" AR next to you and prepared to use it if necessary? It's a big bitch to fumble around with.

I look at any kind of firearm as a tool. Either a work tool or a tool to create fun. Aesthetically I can appreciate just about anything so long as its classic or has functionality.

Complete noob here.

Me and my GF are getting ready to purchase our first guns, and I wanted to know iif the ones weve picked out are decent beginners pieces to pump a bunch of rounds through to get used to guns in general. Were starting small, so we picked out a Walther p22 for the handgun side of things, and are looking at pic related maybe for the rifle side of things. Are these decent? Or junk? Good for a beginner?

Any help is appreciated.

good on you for starting with .22lr, it's a great round to learn handling with, however I would suggest getting an AR and a conversion kit like one of these

https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/category/parts-and-accessories/parts-by-gun-model/ar-15/22lr-conversion-kits.do

so that you can swap out the parts as your needs dictate, .22lr for plinking, 5.56/.223 for general use

We are looking at an AR probably in the future, but as it stands right now it looks like a lot of them are sold out locally and the few that are still around are going for very jacked up prices (guns that were around $500 or so before the shooting now going for $800+). I know ive read a lot of good things about Walther, and when we went to one of the stores near us they had a couple so we got to hold them. Really good ergonomics for sure, nice weight.

Anything we should be afraid of? Jamming or shit construction leading to damage?
>>
Also, im an idiot as the pic doesnt even say what brand it is or anything.

Mossberg Blaze-47 is what the AK knockoff were looking at is.

Saiga_762x39_BOB.png
4MB, 3072x1728px
So I have a Saiga in 7.62x39.
It causes bolt over base- malfunction with other than orginal mag.
Ie. as bolt returns from most rearward position it goes over the base of the bullet and strucks the ejector groove instead. As a result the cardridge jams against barrel/reciever/bolt.
With saiga's own magazine: the bolt catches ammunition just barely (the beta champher-area of the casing).
With some other magazines the bolt may completely miss the base --> bob-malfunction. (pic related)

Should I get this Saiga to the gunsmith to refit the gun with another "safety lever stop", file it down and weld some material to magazine catch or should I seek for another bolt/slide?

>rusty mag wont work
I tried several different mags, this one ended up on a good photo.
>too much oil in cold enviroment
It was just near zero (Celsius) and the oil I used was very thin. I can wiggle and recreate this problem with my hands.

do the rivets holding the magazine catch/trigger guard on give when you pull down on them?
Does the magazine want to wobble backwards and forwards a fair amount?

That's the only problems I can think of that might cause that.
Well, those and perhaps a bolt with a little too much taken off the bottom.

>>30310339
No, all of the rivets on the gun are solid.
The magazine has less than an millimeter of free space to wobble between safety lever stop and magazine catch.

Oh and feedramp hits the casings mouth (in normal feeding), can I go wrong with additional rounding of the sharp edge?

Agreed. They're only slightly less effective than yip dogs, who are guaranteed to make noise.

Why would someone buy a pump action shotgun over a semi auto? Are there more regulations on semi auto shotguns? Wouldn't pic related or a Benelli M4 with buckshot be better for home defense?

7.62x39 I can't even this caliber
>doesn't penetrate like a full power rifle round
>doesn't tumble on impact like an intermediate round
>hard to control on full auto

This round doesn't do anything good. The only thing is has going for it is it's cost. But that's legit it. Even then, it's not as cheap as it once was before the china ban.

It's an intermediate cartridge, and it can penetrate well at its effective range (Better than M193 5.56)
