Anyone want to share some stories of home invasions or defence? I got one from a few years back but it's pretty embarrasing
>age 14
>mom got an apartment in the shittiest part of Stockholm
>on my bike heading home
>two "kids", probably 12-16
>middleeastern decent
>they try to block my bike yelling about using my phone or something
>I know how these things usually go down
>dont stop, power through them on the side of the road
>they are visibly upset
>get home
The apartment is on the top floor of an old building where mostly addicts and immigrants live
>later, door knocks
>home alone so door's locked
>I check through the peephole
>it's the two kids from earlier, probably saw what building I went into
>they're knocking on the door continously, asking nicely to let them in over and over again
>refuse
>after about 7 minutes of their nagging it's finally quiet
>I've been sitting in the kitchen next to the door waiting for them to leave
>can finally go to the bathroom in peace
>after a while of toilet business I hear a strange low noise, like someone softly shaking a box of needles
>realise that they're fiddling with the fucking lock
>straight up sprint from the toilet
>the lock-part of this side of the door has started to turn slightly
>I'm crying
>when I get to the door I instinctly turn the lock to the opposite direction
>I unlock the door, being an idiot
>at this point it's a pulling match, fortunately I'm winning because I grew up with siblings, but scary nontheless
>finally get the door locked
During this entire story, I did not call the police. To this day I don't know why, and everyone I tell the story to just keep asking me why I didn't just call the police. I don't know.
>fast forward an hour or so, maybe less
>loud crash, but not from the door

>one of them had climbed out the window from the stairwell, and onto my balcony, then gotten stuck trying to climb through one of the windows
>he's halfway through, one of his arms is wailing inside, trying to find the latch for the window(it only opens for a few decimeters unless you release the latch)
>young teen screaming begins
>running to my sisters old room to get her old compound bow
>when I get back, he stops trying to crawl through, and starts to try to worm his way out
This is the part that's still so real in my head. I can remember it so clearly still
>I'm standing there, aiming the bow and arrow at him, SCREAMING at the top of my lungs
>I'm talking non-stop, autistic minecraft kid levels of screaming
>and I can't see shit
>my eyes are filled with never ending tears, and I can't see fucking shit
>and I'm coughing from screaming so fucking hard
>eventually he crawls back and his friend helps him back to the stairwell
>still screaming for them to get out, still blind
>eventually they leave, can hear them jogging down the stairs
>sit on the floor waiting for mom to get home
>when she does, she asks what I'm doing on the floor with a bow, visibly red cheeks from crying
>I don't tell her, for whatever reason
>she sees the broken plastic furniture on the balcony
>finally spill it
>thank god we live in the northernmost part of sweden now
I was such a fucking stupid teenager. Didn't call the police, tried to keep it secret. In a moment where I should have been calm and in total control of myself, I was beyond panicked and no self-control

I guess I'd like to see myself as a person who could handle these situations but with this memory in my head I just can't imagine it

Ukiyo-e Edition

> What's this thread about?
As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics.

The Type 89 IFV exemplifies yet another product of the Japanese defense industry’s relative conservatism. With the advent of the 1980s, the JGSDF sought a capable IFV option in accordance with prevailing designs in the west. To this end, in 1980, a JPY 600 million request was tendered for the commissioning of four new vehicle prototypes. These prototypes were completed by 1984, and accepted into service in 1989, receiving its designation as the “Type 89”. Low rate production commenced under Mitsubishi, but Komatsu also served as a subcontractor. Although 300 vehicles had been demanded at the onset, by 1999, the slow pace of production and some budgetary issues led to only some 58 vehicles being completed. Nevertheless, the continuation of production has led to 120 or so IFVs in service as of 2014. The IFV itself, like a lot of other JGDSF equipment, is fairly conventional. The hull consists of an all welded steel construction with a front left mounted engine on a torsion bar suspension. It possesses seven dismounts via two back doors and three crew positions, with firing ports and periscopes respectively. Main armament consists of an Oerlikon Contraves 35 mm KDE cannon offering a cyclic rate of fire of 200 rpm, sourced either from Switzerland or license produced. A Jyu-MAT wire guided missile sits on both sides of the turret, and the turret also has a coaxial 7.62 mm Type 74 machinegun to the dual feed cannon. The Type 89 boasts no amphibious capacity, however, but does have an NBC system, laser warning system and night vision equipment.

OP: As always, feedback, suggestions wanted and appreciated.
The Type 89 is not really an exceptionally innovative vehicle, nor is it a particularly formidable vehicle in any one respect. It is, that said, quite capable in its role as a ferry for infantry and as a platform for projecting firepower. The Type 89 in trials demonstrated decent cross country performance, and provides solid protection for its passengers, especially with bolt on side armour panels. The conventional aspects of a number of contemporary western IFV patterns are present; firing ports, rear doors, turret and weaponry, front mounted engine, torsion bars, NBC system, smoke dischargers, fairly comprehensive electronic suite, and so on. Unlike many of its counterparts, the Type 89 has no variants as of yet, although there were prospects of a 155 mm artillery system being mounted and an 8x8 version. Note well that the JGSDF was not demanding a watershed in AFV design, rather, they were willing to be satisfied with a vehicle that could keep up with its tanks and provide the necessary support to its infantry.

More tank news, as per the new format.
If you have more queries regarding a news story, just point it out, and I’ll further elaborate and provide links.

More details have emerged over the Type 96B that was spotted last week, allegedly having been designed in time for the International Army Games in Russia. An upgrade to the tank’s ventilation system has been visually confirmed, yet it remains to be seen if claims of improved internal electronics and engine power are veracious.
The Royal Moroccan Army has received its first batch of 222 total M1A1 MBTs from the US, representing the culmination of a deal that had been hammered through in Congress as far back as 2011. Under the Foreign Military Sales contract (FMS), GDLS is expected to upgrade 150 MBTs for the Moroccan Army to the “SA” pattern, incorporating a Block I FLIR, gunner’s primary sight and blue force tracking system.
According to Sputnik News, Lebanon has requested from Russia the supply of Kornet ATGMs and T-72 MBTs, and is anticipating delivery within the year. The T-72s are also expected by the Lebanese to received ongoing upgrades by the Russians, along with the provision of ammunition, with the overall aim cited to be the defense against jihadist organisations on the Lebanese border, currently under both Nusra and ISIS influence.
Ukraine has assured the Thai government that the remaining batch of 39 Oplot-T MBTs are being prepared and will be delivered by March next year. The major cause of the delay has been officially cited as the current conflict occurring in Ukraine’s east.
Russia has proposed an upgrade for Vietnam’s aging fleet of PT-76 and PT-76B amphibious tanks. These early moves are merely hypothetical, but would focus on modernisation and then a comprehensive upgrade of existing PT-76 tanks.

And that’s all for now.

Well, it appears that our resident Gallic tank commander, Frenchfag, has emerged the victor of the poll, with the distinguished Otto Carius emerging a somewhat not so close second. Frenchfag is just as deserving of attention as Carius is, and rest assured, I’ll get to both in due course, with varying levels of historical accuracy depending on whom. Congratulations to Frenchfag, and let’s hope he’s safe and sound in all this nasty business in France at the moment, enjoying Bastille Day.

I'm 22 and live with my mom. I really wanted to build an AR-15, so I started stocking up on the parts slowly and hid them under my bed without talking to her about it.

I finished it last night, and I racked the charging handle back a couple times without thinking about it, next thing I knew my mom burst into my room and she screamed bloody murder when she saw it. She started freaking out and calling me a piece of shit nazi white supremacist.

I was freaking out and ended up racking the charging handle back and pointing it straight at her face, I didn't even have it loaded but she kept screaming and called the cops. I've been living at my friends house since then with my AR and some clothes, I have no idea if the cops are looking for me or not but I cant leave

In light of recent events I've decided to come out of early retirement and resume work on some of the more promising designs I had left over and begin work on all new designs going forward.

In the meantime I present /k/ with the 'Makegooder' mk1 crowd control platform!

Now the schematic isn't quite as polished as some of my earlier work as i'm sure you've noticed, this is because I was "lit AF", as the urban youths would say, when I envisioned and sketched out the device last night, and also because this one will not be patented unlike my previous designs, the "Makegooder" mk1 is my gift to you /k/.

Post any questions, suggestions, or constructive criticisms of the design, and I will do my best to reply and answer as soon as I've reloaded my bong.

This Turkish NCO was the aide of Turkish four star general. During the coup night, a CIA backed putshist brigadier general came to the HQ with a two dozen men and claimed he's in charge now. This NCO shot the putshist General from his head without second thinking and got murdered by Brigadier General's men.
