Are they actually going to flatten the terrorists this time around?

Maybe team up with Russia?

>Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov arrives at Syrian port. Dozens of Russian jets are launched, headed for a little revenge for the recent attacks on France. Suddenly.... red, white, and blue streamers start coming from the wings of the Russian jets.

>Out of nowhere.... several squadrons of French jets line up beside the Russians.

So yes:

Just like the Israelis learnt to live with terrorism.

>>
>>30632191
Frog here. Being a militaryfag is being permanently unsatisfied by the equipment and funding at hands. This is equaly true in all countries. France could fix 99% of its defense problems in less than a decade with a bit of an improvment in funding, and politics ceasing to cut orders on major programs with a lot of R&D and thus skyrocketting individual prices.
France is still in the high tier. Stop being a whiny little pussy and do something about it to help, or stfu.
>>
>>30632237
I just don't see it happening for anything other than a bomb truck.

Have they even got something in the pipeline to take over air superiority duties?
>>
>>30632244
Equipment is the least of our problems. The French army is broken at its core.

It's funny you should talk about funding. When the government says "were going to allocate more funds to the army", they actually mean " we're gonna allocate more funds to the chain of command"

That leads to completely asinine situations were Caracal platoons can't fulfill their missions because fuel consumption estimations have been made in Paris by a half-retired Gazelle pilot who never put a foot in a Caracal, and makes estimations off by roughly 3 tons of fuel.
>>
>>30632224
>>30632237

>2050
What? No, the post 2020 Rafale upgrade is derived from the curent DEDIRA "stealth enhancement" program, which will very likely include improvement in frontal RCS, specificaly to keep being relevant up to 2050. Think of it as a Silent Eagle package for Rafale. CFT tanks, yet-another upgrade to Spectra Ewar capabilities, RCS readucing features on the plane here and there, stealth ammunition containers, etc.

If there is still no two-ways datalink for Meteor i will burn the DGA (the office that manages our defgense programs) to the ground, though.
>>
>>30632304
>Not enough fuel allocated
>that's because the guy is a gazelle pilot and certainly has no idea to read the fucking documentation and read how much fuel a Caracal guzzles in operation

Which certainly demonstrate how idiotic your reflexion is.
>>
>>30632318
Theres definately things you can do to keep Rafales relevant. They're a good aircraft (coming from a Eurofighter fanboy)

But I would have thought there would have to be another program backing that up somewhere.
>>
>>30632347
I have no reason to doubt what a captain of the special forces who happens to be my brother has to say about his area of expertise.

If you don't believe me or him, then fuck off.
>>
>>30632376
>captains of special forces are immune to bias and bitching

wow. I don't doubt your adored brother is right when he complains they lack resources, but the reason has certainly much more to do with balancing the needs of all helicopter units with allocated budget than "why can't that damnable Gazelle pilot understand we need MOAR FUEL?"
>>
>>30632417
>Balancing the needs of helicopters units makes them unable to do what they are told to do

You're right. So much better.
>>
>>30632375
There is also the French-British FCAS program as well, which is still in its very early stages. I believe we budgeted it 2b€ for first studies.

There is no exact architecture so far as of what will still be manned, what will be unmanned, but it will most certainly be a mix of both.
>>
>>30632449
Actually yes, because contrary to what you bicthed about the "broken at its core" army, this is nothing that can't be fixed with better funding.
>>
>>30632479
Not that i don't believe the french army is lacking in core problems that will demand more reflxion than throwing money at it, but in that case, wow, you're crying about fucking nothing, dude, and solely because your brother is concerned about it.
>>
>>30632479
What part of "all funding goes to chain of command " you don't understand? I wasn't exaggerating here. All those millions are nowhere to be found. The Army keeps adding layers and layers of commanding officers, each of them with conflicting competencies one over the others. What the army had some years ago in terms of flexibility and reactivity is completely gone, crushed by this lightyear-long chain of command.
>>
>>30632534
wow, you're crying about fucking nothing, dude, and solely because your brother is concerned about it.

Yeah, I've bee carried away. What I'm trying to say is is that people know the the french army is in a sorry state, but I'm not sure they know how much.
>>
>>30629274
it's a miracle we didn't already got bombed again during the euro 2016 but i can understand some peoples don't want our security system to become too NFA like.

Yeah, right, sure that shit is nowhere to be seen, on the top of my head, between the past few years and the next few ones we have:

>New frigates, after long delay and target number reduction under former governement
>New oil and replenishment ships
>New mutipurpose ships
>New infantry APC
>New combat recon vehicle
>VBCI armor upgrade
>Scorpion communication and command real time upgarde, this shit is fucking major, mate
>Leclerc upgrade
>New assault rifle
>lightened FELIN carrier
>Kameleon fucking breakthrough night vision R&D
>Aster 30 upgrade
>Rafale upgrade
>10.000 personnel increase of the combat capable troops
>New light and heavy wheeled vehicles for special forces
>Fucking surge in all branches of army operation the like we didn't see in at least 15 years
>FCAS program
>new attack subs finally back on track after counter years of delay under previous governement

Okay. What you did mean is "all funding doesn't go to my baby brother". You're a whiny little cunt.

>>
>>30632783
Now, if you want "core problems", I am awfully annoyed by the last two decades of no recognition of our army by public services, politics, education, media, and how it lead to a sharp decrease of the recruitment pool, seeing some of the "specimen" that are accepted, or how late some equipment programs are that now turn to be awfully urgent. The way our population grew complacent over security matters in the last two decades, the way our politics thought that a GDP point was all the same no matter the ethnic origin of the immigrant worker, this sort of things will take years and years to fix to some extend, all these things turn me apeshit crazy. And these, are problems that won't be fixed simply with a big fat bank note. So yeah, i certainly don't disagree with you over the "core problems" of our army. But fuel ain't one in my opinion in regards of these.

Not him, but we aren't in THAT good a spot.

Cutting tank numbers in half
Dropping the AMX-10RC to only 248 then acting like the Jaguar is a 1 for 1
ERC-90 and Mephisto get no replacement, Jaguar is supposedly it too, despite only 248 of them replacing almost 600 vehicles
VAB had over 3,000, the Griffin only has around 2,000
MLRS dropped from 50 to 13. Fucking thirteen!
155mm guns massively cut, only 121 howitzers left, thats both SPG and field gun.
FREMM cut to only 6
Horizon cut to 2 instead of 4, with the remaining two taken up by a half baked FREDA design that isn't half as good as an AAW needs to be
Second carrier cut
Sub numbers dropping
4th Mistral cut
Rafale dropped to 180, getting the remaining 45 to make it to 225 total instead of just running the Mirage forever is proving a damn battle in the budget. It once was going to be 300
Still no two-way datalink or HMD
No BVR missile until 2018
Still no light ATGM for infantry, only larger ones like MMP, much less portable
Only some of the Tigers are getting proper HAD upgrade, not all (There was supposed to be 80!)

There's some good stuff coming, but I can understand the frustration. It's certainly not "fixed" now, or even in the near future.

Increase of military budget is pretty much the only thing all candidate (except the ecologists, but fuck those tree-fuckers) and parties to next years election agree upon.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see what comes. Just I often feel there's a lot that doesn't get mentioned in issues.

The base accuracy is not very good, but you can indeed feed it anything at it'll remain "acceptable".
But the accuracy you get could be gotten from a modern semi-auto.
The FR-F2 is rugged and reliable, but it won't win any matches.

This is true.

More than ten years ago, around 2004/2006, when there were still about 300.000 MAS 49 and 49/56 in the nventory, a civillian armorer had the idea to mass produce a conversion kit for 300 euros, including a new Lothar Walther barrel chambered in 7.62 nato, several magwell inserts and catchers able to accept FAL, G3 or AR10 compatible mags, and a new handguard, stock, pistol grip, rails...

The gun was called MAS 49/56 SAUG. pic related.

It wasn't a particularly new idea, as similar conversion kits for the MAS 49 already were available on the US market.

The french SF tested the rifle and found it more accurate than the FRF2, while being as reliable as an AK and being semi auto.

For 300 euros per kit, we could have build thousands of these DMR rifles, just like the US forces did with the M14 EBR.

Then, these MAS 49/56 were promptly either destroyed or sold on the US market alongside tens of thousand of MAS 36 and 36/51.

Hence the joke "muh rifle never fired" which was logical since a good chunk of these rifle never left an armory, due to the arrival of the Famas and other rifles, and the end of conscription, respectively.

Some conscripts used to fire the Lebel until the 1970's in their shooting classes.

It purpotes itself as an AAW vessel, but it only has a single low mounted rotating PESA radar thats not exactly top of the market even today, let alone in the early 2020's when these things are meant to hit service.

In addition to that, its maximum SAM load is only 32 missiles. It's dropping from 16x A50 and 16x A70 to just 32x A50, so it can't mount SCALP missiles anymore either, or any future VLS ASM. They won't have any BMD capability either, even if the new Aster 30's can do it, the radar isn't capable of it.

So essentially, it's a FREMM that gives up its land attack ability in exchange for some more SAMs and a boosted (but still ultimately disappointing) radar. It'll still be a good ASW ship, but given France only has 6 other major ASW ships outside the FREDAs...it's going to have to be. Quite a sorry state of affairs for the navy.

I really don't want to derail this thread, nor do I want to dismiss the support from other /k/ommandos to France. I know this is 4chan. But this crosses the line.

France is being attacked because we are the only country in Western Europe that doesn't spread its asshole to muzzies.
Talks of halal meat in school cafeterias were met with widespread outrage. Veils are prohibited in public buldings, as with any religious symbols. And don't ever dare bring up the matter of sharia courts in France, that will get you put on a watchlist.

All of this exists and is accepted and defended by the media and politcians in the UK and Germany. Which don't get attacked. We do.

I presume you're an American. In that case, I'd suggest you take a look at your own brown people, your own liberals who created all the politically correct bullshit that is killing off the Western civilization and the actions of your own government who armed and trained the brown people who are attacking us in the first place.

Go back to your ignorant, sexually-frustrated, edgy wannabee nazi friends at /pol/ and /int/.

Our problem here in Germany is that our laws are made for a christian country while the constitution demands that every religion is treated equal. So when the government supports Christianity it also has to support Islam (or any other religion).
Only way to change this is to adopt the French model of Laïcité but that will never happen as long people vote for party with a C in their name.

Also, Mali is the responsibility of France, just like Boko Haram in Nigeria is the responsibility of the UK.

The way to try and prove that your country is important isn't belittling what others are doing.
>>
>>30666856
This. We have practically no echo in traditional media of what other countries do except for 'Murica Fuck Yeah in the middle-east, and from time to time Yemen news with the Oh So Enlightened Saudi So Respectful of Human Rights Please By Some Rafales. And that sure is not showing how much shit some countries do to help curb the islamist clusterfuck down. Apparently the Belgian have some not-insignificant action in Congo as well.

We can still laugh at the absolutely non-existant germans together, my friend from the other side of the channel.

Frog-Bong Combined Joint Task Force ftw. Can't wait to see them wreck some shit in some african hellhole or another.

People are so dumb.

Fuck France, socialist cunts.

Well seen from the pleb, most laymen here were wondering what the fuss was while journals left and right and foaming and raging. I wish that sort of shit would happen today just to hear the deafening silence of the Parisian self-wanking media-mafia. Thankfully most of the country is not like those self-absorbed cunts who all believe to be the new Victor Hugo.

>Rapatriated and locked up in garnison
Nope, he got a slap on the wrist in Mali but finished his rotation (though while fully knowing storm would unleash when getting back to france because our high officers would rather sacrifice a soldier and ruin the army's morale than be on the bad side of the media, fuck them all)

>Dunno if he got kicked out
Joachim Tybora (legion name: Erik Thorssen) asked to be allowed to resign from his contract but was refused. He went to perm and was temporarily AWOL, then came back, then went definitely AWOL on his next one. Then the automatic exclusion procedure kicked in after one month.

>>30668199
He was in a deep depression and high on drugs at that time. Can hardly blame to guy considering the pressure. Didn't go to jail but 3 years suspended sentence ina civilian court. I believe the army was kinda happy to let go and not add anything. left to Sweden and is now a driver on construction site.
>>
>>30668302
To their credit, while there was enormous pressure from the very highest echelon and political level to make an example of him, his mid and lower level officers protected him as much as they could by maintaining him on the operation until its end.

My favourite French Ship: Le Monge.

From Wiki:
Le Monge is a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship of the French Navy dedicated to tracking and measuring rocket trajectories. She was built for the trials of the Submarine-launched ballistic missiles of the Navy.

The systems in the Monge allow it to track missiles and satellites. There are two navigation radars and a DRBV 15C air surveillance radar installed. The intelligence systems are a Stratus Gascogne, two Armor-radarsystemy, two Savoie and Antares missile-tracking radars, a laser-radar, and an optical tracking unit, furthermore 14 antennas for telemetry.
The ship is painted white because the normal darker grey of warships would heat up the ship more, which could cause malfunctions of the electronic systems inside.

>Such white
>Much detection
>Wow!

In Canada it's the same since the army is officially bilingual.

Army=armée de terre
RCAF=aviation royale canadienne
RCN=Marine royale canadienne

Exactly that. Disappearing for 2-3 years at a time every refuelling/refitting with no cover.

Even worse, with no CdG, the navy won't have any AEW at all to cover it. None. Fucking zero.

Fuck this government for cancelling PA2.
