Hey folks. I recently came into possession of a 1906 gewehr 98. Unfortunately someone down the line sporterized it. No real fudding other than removing the front portion if the stock.
Tldr: anyone know a place to get replacement stock parts for antique guns?
Here you go anon

There are reproduction stocks available, but they do cost a couple hundred dollars:

A lot of people use Brazilian M1908 stocks to restore pre-war Gew.98s since they at least have the space for the unit marking disc.

Numrich has some too:

Sadly that's all I could find and it looks like it might just be a mislabeled Kar98 stock...
Whats up with this small hole in my receiver? Just got a BCM Recce 14 and it has this small hole in the receiver that doesn't exist on my Colt. What's the deal on this?
Looks like your AR is damaged, throw it in the trash.
Oiling hole?

Hi there gun nuts!
seein as y'all know this type of business,
what type and callibre gun could do this to a man? (estimated range 300-400m from enemy)
.45 ACP
there is a theory he was assasinated by his own... is the wound consistent with a revolutionary era flintlock rifle or pistol?
>Charles’s thick felt hat, for instance, remains on display in a Swedish museum, bearing a hole 19 millimeters in diameter,
>or about three quarters of an inch—a clear indicator of the size, and hence perhaps the type, of the projectile that killed him

So I'm considering dropping out of my state college to transfer to a gunsmithing school in order to pursue an apprenticeship. I'm planning to work at UPS or something before I go to the school so I can help pay for tuition and such. Any advise someone experienced could give me? Is this a good idea?
>>32158451
its a terrible fucking idea.
Gunsmiths dont make shit
I'm not really in it for the money, more something I would enjoy doing. Do you think it would be possible to work as an apprentice and supplement that with another job until I'm more experienced and can start a business or something?
>>32158451
I've though about the same thing. Gunsmithing is a job I could do for free but I like eating too. I would establish a career that pays well and do gunsmithing on the side.
What would a WW3 scale naval task force against China look like? With US + NATO + Japan + ROK
Where would you position the fleets(s)?
How long would it take for them to control seas?
The task force would mostly be made up of the Seventh Fleet. Europe is too weak to send any ships to the other side of the world and JDSF Navy and ROK Navies would be sunk in their harbours
>>32158288
somewhat related.

>>32158288
It'd look an awful lot like Desert Shield's task force in the gulf: 100% US ships in 2 CBG's.
Y'know, since the US is really the only country in the world with a navy capable of expeditionary warfare.
>inb4 b-but muh Brits!
Carrier will be in port out of gas because lolnotnuclear, what else could they send, all 3 of their operational destroyers?
>inb4 b-but muh frogs!
Carrier will be in port broken, what else could they send, their 4 Mistrals?
The Japs don't have shit other than 3 helicopter carriers that may or may not be able to make it to Chinese waters (even as close as they are), and the ROK doesn't have shit period.
What's the verdict on cheap 1911's?
Picture is a RIA GI Standard 1911 MS .45acp
>>32158268
They don't take off any of the sharp edges so expect some fucking cuts when you shoot it.
Other than that, the only complaint is that the disassembly is retarded compared to other 1911s.
No other problems come to mind though.
>>32158300
>sharp edges
really my tisas zig is pretty good for 390$, and it doesnt hurt to shoot.
>>32158268
they're cheap because they're in .45 acp
MD /K/ommnados,
I'm currently in WA eyeballing a job over there and I'm wondering about firearm laws..
40yo M, clean criminal background and has CWP, EDC is a p229....I know that shotguns and sporting rifles are good, but IDK the process for getting CWP, or if there is even a snowballs chance in hell of getting one.
Better yet, should I even bother to bring my EDC out there? I can transfer it to family so that's not an issue, but I kinda want it as I'm going to be close to Baltimore.
wut do?
>>32157701
not worth it. Stay away, liberals and blacks have ruined this state and the fun laws.
>>32157701
WA is cucked, stay away and move to a swingier state to raise a white, wholesome, conservative family.
>>32157701
This state sucks.
I have lived in MD my whole life and there are more things wrong with it than just the gun laws.
The state is extremely crowded in central md where you will be living. People are hardcore leftists and SJW culture abounds. 83% of the state voted hillary.
The gun laws are also terrible. CWP are impossible to obtain unless you are a police officer. Most semi auto detached magazine rifles are banned. No m1a, ptr, ak, fal. The list goes on. We can only own heavy barrel AR's and that only happened because one of the senators had financial ties to Colt.
I am desperately trying to move to west virginia or Pennsylvania. Don't do it
Hey I just got my very first gun. I bought a Glock 19. Looks like pic. Since I have so much crap to do for school, I haven't had time to take it to a range/shoot it yet. What I want to know is what kind of cleaner/lubricant should I get? I plan on eventually having a lot more guns, so what do I get that would work for most gun and is not expensive.
>>32157505
breakfree clp. its not much of a cleaner but its a great and economical lube
Also, should I get some kind of kit?
>>32157525
I usually just buy those cheap Outers or whatever cleaning kits from Wal-Mart and build up from there. Those have rods, brushes, patch holders/jags and such.
I use Hoppes #9 solvent and Slip 2000 EWL lube.
hey guys so i know that 223 and 556 are supposed to be pretty much identical when it comes to measurements but build different pressures. at least that's what I've come up with from the reading i have done. but on the left is an American eagle 5.56 55 grain bullet and on the right is an american eagle 223 55 grain bullet. to me it clearly looks like the 223 projectile is smaller but everything im reading is saying the measurements should be identical. can someone please explain this to me.
>>32157421
The angle of the photo makes it seem smaller the .223 is farther away from the camera
It's the case dimensions that matter. Those could be different loadings and projectiles. I hope that's not you in the photo.
>>32157421
Overall length may differ, it's not an issue as long as the case length is the same.
Case dimensions vs chamber dimensions are what matters for fit, bullet length/overall length don't matter as much.
Hello, its my first thread here, so i'll be quick.
In planning on joining the army of my country, Argentina, in 2 years, maybe the cavalry. Anyway, the standart rifle of the army is the FN FAL, its very symbolic here and i wanted to know what does /k/ think about it.
Is it cheap to buy one in the united states? is it realiable?
They go from between $900-$2500 depending on the quality, make, and rarity.
And yes, they are fantastic rifles.
>>32157406
The L1A1 is better
>>32157426
nice.
is there anything else can you tell me about it?
Beside the VEPR 12, can you give me exemples of semi automatic shotguns with detachable magazines?
>>32157384
Saiga, usas, aa12 (full auto),
>>32157384
Saiga 12/20 :^)
FR-99 and Origin 12 jump to mind.
I got this book on /k/'s reccomendation. Does it ever stop being the Navy SEAL copypasta about how badass the author is and actually talk about the operation, or should I toss it?
Is anything ever not a Jew York Times bestseller?
>>32157342
Wondering the same thing. May even be worth a Google to see where the cutoff is. That label is on goddamn everything
>>32157328
It does, it's a fairly easy read actually.
DF's fiction series is far more action-oriented in terms of operating. I heavily recommend those.
Post a better weapon.
Protip, you cant
>>32157301
Too easy, desu
1. Why is the Desert Eagle featured in so many movies/videya if no actual military/police forces use it?
2. Are there any other firearms chambered for .50AE?
3. Would a SMG chambered in .50AE be a good idea?
4. Is the Deagle /k/ approved?
>It's cool
>Yes
>I think so
>As a range toy or bear country gun sure
>>32157275
what other guns are .50AE? I'm assuming some kind of revolver?
>>32157248
>1
In movies it's because it's big and intimidating. Also, because MUH FIFTY CALIBER
In video games it's because it's big and square and thus easy to model, at least at first. Now it's just iconic.
>2
Probably. I'm sure some gunsmith somewhere has done do. Production wise, I can't think of anything.
>3
Beyond SMGs being obsolete as a whole, not really. It's got some punch, but it's not really controllable in full retard. And if you're shooting semi retard, you might as well go with something like an MP5
>4
It kills bear dead. That's okay enough.
BTW, .50 AE a shit. .44 Deagle best Deagle.
Any thoughts and opinions on Sig Sauer
Why do some of you guys like the two-tone sigs?
Just got a p320. First Sig. Love it.
