Well my actual dream gun is a modular futuretech thingymajob which I cannot describe in a way that makes sense to anyone. Basically it's every gun you could ever want in one package. Sort of rooted in the Mass Effect rifles with the projectiles shaved off a block of metal and the real world Blaser R93-T2 barrel switching.
I literally dream about it.
This baby would be very nice though.

My roommate has one.
I really don't have anything overwhelmingly negative to say about it.
I did have feeding issues at first, but it was just a burr in the feed ramp.

When making a modern trebuchet, if you have enough water, solar power, and large enough freezers, with a solar water pump....
would it be possible to freeze several tons of ice, slide it into the trebuchets sling, pump water into the counterweight to cock it, and fire massive chunks of ice. Leaving obliterated fortifications and only water/mud in its wake. Also would lower and make it easier to move said trebuchet????

Iraq: Police commandos recapture new neighborhood in Mosul
>Iraqi militarized police captured two neighborhoods on the western side of Mosul on Sunday amid fierce clashes with Islamic State militants, as thousands of people continued to flee the battle to government-controlled areas, security officials said.
Iraqi forces, backed by aerial support by the U.S.-led international coalition, launched a new push last week to drive ISIS militants from Mosul's west, capturing so far the city's international airport and an adjacent military base. Iraqi authorities declared Mosul's eastern half "fully liberated" from the Sunni militants in January, three months after launching the operation to take back Iraq's second-largest city.
At dawn Sunday, the Federal Police Commandos Division moved into the Tayaran neighborhood amid fierce clashes, Maj. Gen. Haider al-Maturi told The Associated Press from Baghdad. Al-Maturi said the neighborhood "is now under their full control."
Al-Maturi said ISIS militants deployed at least 10 suicide car bombs, but nine of them were blown up before reaching their targets. The 10th killed two policemen and wounded five. Al-Maturi added that his forces arrested two militants — an Iraqi and a foreigner who speaks Russian.

Militarized police are great for areas that have incredibly high amounts of crime, warzones, disaster zones (i.e. flooding and tornados), riots, and against heavily armed criminals. They can give additional man power if necessary during a national crisis, as well as localized and immediate help.
However, they aren't necessary for quiet towns, highways, and low-level crime cities where you don't expect to get shot. That doesn't mean he shouldn't be equipped to handle situations such as a knife wielding madman (aka pack a tazer) or a shooter (AR-15 in trunk).
Personally, I think most cops should be carrying a helmet and body armor either on person or in the police cruiser while on patrol and at the ready, but they probably do anyhow.
Shit like APCs and armored trucks makes sense getting through the aftermath of tornado, not so much patrolling a highway.
