Are there any really advanced resources for perspectives? I do know the 1,2,3 point perspective drawing techniques, but those are still quite limited in utility for more complex structures. I know most artists just wing it and make it good enough, but I would like to study mathematical or geometrical ways to portray accurate angles and stuff.

I know a lot depends on chosen "lens" of the observer, to create the perspective projection...Like at what distance should a observed-faced square start to look more rounded thanks to the projection?

I know Escher played with projections a lot, but I don't know if he put any of his studies formally in writing.

Anything?

anything more than 3 point is a wonky fish eye shit. check out ultra wide angle camera lenses
>>
>>2489532
well man,
1 point is used for limited spaces, 2 point comes in because the cone of vision starts making things looks wacky. so the cone of vision is expanded somewhat and we get 2 vanishing points to stop warping.

3 point is the most natural. it's probably the best for illustrating full images in general and its only somewhat limited. and usually the horizon will be off the page.

if you want the image to start rounding that's usually using 5 point perspective which you see a fair amount of in photography. even then the image is cropped so you dont see the circle of the lens.

look into scott robertson's how to draw. it goes over alot of this.

Yeah, this book from scott robertson is definitely helping.

I think I might have learned some of this shit in the past but have forgotten stuff.

copy loads of artists you like, decide what you like and don't like about their art, which will refine your taste
>>
Look to other artists, of varying styles and eras. Don't get stuck learning from/copying one artist, you'll always be a pale imitation at best that way.

Apply these varying influences into your personal work, do many, many, MANY studies not just of the artists you like and their styles, but of traditional subjects as well. (Still life, figure drawing, gestures etc.)

Just tried water-soluble colour pencils for the first time, it's really fun. Way easier to use than normal watercolour imo, and it's really relaxing. Do you know of any good resources, preferably online, to git gud? Also wouldn't mind some feedback on pic related, I need pointers.

its just a dry watercolor in a pencil so the same as watercolor tutorials?

I am not sure how relevant it'd be to pencils but I highly recommend the Big Book of Watercolor by Jose M. Parramon as a source for learning more about watercolor in general (check the Book Thread)

Need a bit of help mixing and storing paint.

I got an airbrush, and I decided to cheap it the fuck out, got a pump, brush, and tube acrylic paint that I think till it will spray.
Sure its a pain in the ass, but it thins well, and sprays VERY good, may not be as good as paint specifically for the airbrush, but damn good none the less.

Now, till now I thin the pain it batches for when I use the airbrush, however, I want to stop that, as each time I thin it, its a little different, sometimes its a bit thicker, sometimes its a bit thinner, and its a pain in the ass always needed to adjust.

So I want to get some glass containers for it and mix them in them so there is a bit of a supply.

However this is where i run into issues.
I want to order through amazon as i have gift money and prime, so its free to some extent, but the issues I ran into is most of these are bulk orders. As in I need to pay upwards 100$ to get things that i know would be good.

Now, what i'm looking for, small quantities, low price, glass, clear (due to mixing paint in it) and watertight.

What i think is the best are these.

I just tested it to find out how much 30ml is, I would be able to completely fill my airbrush cup about 4 times, considering even 1/5th that amount is good for about 3 sheets of a4 paper, I could run off this for a long time.

Issue is that the 30ml can ship shit that isn't what it shows, 15ml is a bit on the small side,

What I would like is 30-60ml glass container and a glass dropper or two, but finding it cheap is an issue.

Anyone know of something better or for cheap?

I have no idea what you are asking
>>
>>2489519
I'm new to airbrushing
I thin my own paint
I want to thin in bulk (well, bulk of 30ml)
I want to use glass for ease of cleanup
I cant find glass that's 30ml and cheap that's good/guaranteed

Im asking if anyone else here knows where I can possibly get a glass vial with dropper, or a glass dropper + glass container on the cheap.

How do you guys deal with frustration?, its part of being an artist but sometimes I try to bulldoze my way when I frustrated but it seems like the work I produce is subpar.

Does anyone else experience this?.

try to make what you're doing as fun as possible. always take some time to draw things that you enjoy drawing and ignore the quality. try and make finished pieces that you spend at least a few hours on if you don't do that very often

Hey I'm just attaching to this thread cause I don't want to make a new one. It's not really traditional art and not too original I know. What you're looking at is the (appropriated) images of 25 different women superimposed something something woman as deity.. I donno.. Just wanted to show some people.

And to answer OP, yeah frustration is a big part of making choices, which I guess art can be seen as thousands of deliberate decisions. It helps me to think back on other things I made that looked like crap mid-process and turned out to be not bad in the end. When you find yourself bulldozing you really gotta ask yourself if it's going in a good direction or savable at this point. Don't fall victim to the sunk cost fallacy ie: it may not be worth it to continue just because you have already put a lot of work into it. But also don't throw out too much because that's counter-productive. It's a delicate balance. Also, deep breathing, close your eyes and pretend you're on a deserted island on the beach, chamomile tea, take a break and continue later in a different state of mind, shit like that.

What's the best affordable flex fountain pen? I love my Pilot Metropolitan but it's got a fine nib and no flex, and I want line width variety. I'm thinking of getting Noodler's Ahab, but I'm reading mixed reviews online.

Is there a better pen out there around the same price?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2487753

I ended up buying it. It's pretty nice but it's kind of frustrating not being able to flex the pen on pushing strokes, and the line variation really isn't that dramatic, but certainly moreso than anything from a rollerball or felt tip pen. I guess I do need to move into dip pens if that's what I'm looking for.
>>
Buy a decent pen with a #6 nib and replace it with a Zebra G flex. One can buy a Jinhao X450 for less than $3 on ebay and 10 Zebra G nibs for $10. For $13 you can have a nice flex nib with 9 replacement nibs.
>>
>>2490704
This sort of works but the feed of the Jinhao can't really keep up reliably. For drawing it should be ok if you don't go too fast, but it still tends to dry up quickly if you leave the pen unused for even a couple of days. Having to prime the feed to get the pen started every time you want to use it kinda sucks.
The Ahab might do better with the Ebonite feed, but a nib holder is still probably the most reliable option unless you need a pen to take outside.

I bought it two weeks ago... It has no replacement pen so if there's something wrong with pen send it back. They aren't selling pens yet, if ever... Thery keep saying new drivers are coming last are from 2015. So far no...

On top of that I think they're selling them low cause they are about to replace them with "better" new ones. Outside of that negative crap. I like it enough, no different than wacom minus some wonky ass drivers that hate wacom ones, remove all wacom drivers asap and make sure they're gone for sure. Or enjoy 230905923-6824-60 hours of stress trying to figure out why its not working.

Post results, few are reviewing it.

Got one for myself about a month ago. Works just fine with my Macbook. The driver was a little stubborn at first, but after running the quick setup it was alright.
There were some kinks on my PC, including an issue with the mapping when using a two screen setup. I managed to fix the mapping, but I haven't used it since as it feels smoother with the Macbook/Macbook is my primary computer.
The lack of shortcut keys on the display might turn a lot of people off. The screen looks great for the price. I've read about people finding dust under the screen. If you're OCD about that, it's a possibility.
The biggest problem is diagonals. It's my first display tablet, so I have no real experience to compare it to, but they can be a bit squiggly. Even when using a ruler. If it's a driver issue, it may be updated in the future driver, assuming that ever happens. I remember reading somewhere that the tilt functionality has been disabled until the future driver is released as well.
The kickstand feels sturdy. Easy to adjust. The cables connect from the side, rather than the bottom like the older model did, so there aren't any balance issues/cords sticking under the display. For the price, I'm satisfied.
