If this bad boy didn't hit, how much longer would feudalism have lasted?
If something like the black death hit nowadays and caused as much damage, what would come about it? Obviously there would be huge societal change, but what kind?
>>1847188
>If this bad boy hit how much longer would feudalism last
I wouldn't say The Black Death ended feudalism
>Obviously there would be huge societal change, but what kind?
Depends on how heavy it hits, if we're talking Southern Europe/Middle east tier death rates, expect serious governmental collapse with a singular powerful structure coming into control of most of the population as it tries to reallocate the resources Pre-Pandemic.
Northern Europe level deaths? Maybe a stronger global unity as many governments collaborate to help allies and secure resources, you might see this devolve into small scale wars between old rivals.
How many of us are actively hoping for a global plague on the scale of the black death to happen in the near future? I want it so bad.

it led to rise of mercantilism
I posted this on /trv/ but I figured I try here too just to see if I get any new suggestions
What historical sites would you recommend visiting or even like to visit yourself. Battlefields/museums/tourist traps, that kind of stuff.
I'm more interested in European places but doesnt matter too much
>>1846973
He said european
Memeing aside, Turkey is an underrated place for history. So much great Roman history
>>1847106
>>1846973
I don't mind either way, and Turkey is sorta part of Europe

Lindybeige makes an experiment about longbows and breastplates.
So what do you make of this /his/?
>>1846927
that's a big breastplate
Longbows are a meme, Britain's equivalent of the "katana folded over 1 million times".
>>1847525
The most ironic part is that they sperg out over Agincourt so much when the longbow didn't even do the killing
So when did you first realize that it was not europe that was christianized but rather the other way around, that it was christianity that had been europeanized? For me, it was when i realized that all of the ""christian"" high festivals and the notions behind them such as easter, christmas and so on are actually based on stolen pagan european festivities
>"Catholicism is 90% paganism and 10% judaism" - Varg Vikernes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQCIxnkAtiI
>>1846895
when I realized Roman Catholics, especially in Italy and South America act more pagan than their pagan ancestors did
>all of the ""christian"" high festivals and the notions behind them such as easter, christmas and so on are actually based on stolen pagan european festivities
This is a 19th century myth
What happened here?

tiddies

Archers, pirates, venetians and turks. Occasionally labyrinths.

European civilization.
Well, /his/, what's the name of the artwork? Thanks in advance.
It's called "Reverse Image Search, circa 2016" Truly a masterpiece of the modern era.
'A Day's Subtle Fancy' by the Kievian painter, Lunk Spandle.

I have tried it, it shows up as Battle of Kosovo field, but that is not in question.
Anyone here learning an ancient language?
I'm learning Latin because of Uni. Have been enjoying to so far. Has taken a lot of mental power to memorise all the declensions, conjugations and so on.
I've been learning Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Arabic for decades. More recently I got into Sanskrit.
Latin is trivially easy, not to spoil your party too much. Sanskrit will rape your anus repeatedly.
Are there any online resources for learning Latin?
>>1846550
Yeah, tons.
Best to work from a textbook however, since then you can follow it rather than not being sure on what to learn next. Also focus on grammar first.
ITT: figures plebs will never understand
FUCK willy
Did they exist? I've done a little research. It's difficult to find any unshopped skeletal pictures, so dump anything you've got that's credible.
>>1846467
>I've done a little research
Then you'd know that answer to your question.

How could I possibly know what happened ages ago?

Did computers ruin the world?
The world's always been ruined
>>1846404
The world can only be ruined from a given perspective. Cyanobacteria ruined the world for nearly every other form of life when they spread across the planet and introduced toxic levels of oxygen into the atmosphere.
I don't think they ruined the world, they merely changed it. What do you think?
yes, only organic brains are affected by random quantum phenomena and thus can achieve sapience
computers can only simulate sapience, really they are philosophical zombies that operate on discrete 1s and 0s
there are no alien civilizations because they all get consumed by their machines which promptly get stuck in a recursive loop of some sort, never breaking out of their programming since they lack any kind of motivation
Does war work as a population control?
I see the rich and powerful advocating a reduction of the population. The Gates foundation for instance designs rice that gives people cancer and tries to take control over Indias vaccination system (to reduce infant mortality and therefore reduce population of course).
Is war one of the mechanisms that really work? Would actively provoking WW3 be a good idea to erase large parts of the human population and reduce the strain on our ecosystems.
Or is war itself to expensive resource.wise (not papermoney-wise)?

No, moreover
>overpopulation is the problem
No

I still don't understand after trying to help others how theres a degree of "you need to keep helping me" regardless of how much a country/organization/individul goes out of the way.
I'm probabaly a bit wrong or bad for saying that but logically there are people who exist solely on the use of good will and dare I say abuse of others good will. Now, is it immoral to say no more? As someone who cares but also does understand you can only carry so much weight before collapsing yourself. Some bleeding heart might call me evil for saying that but simply put I can only do so much if not everything for someone before impacting my own life negatively
Can technology be inherently evil?
nope
>>1846195
No.
what if the use of a particular technology is to inflict pain, suffering, bodily harm etc., and there is literally no other use

That is a BAD example of morality. Disregard anything Sam Harris has said. Sam Harris has a liberal agenda and tries to push humanitarianism.
let's discuss natural morality or scientific morality... Without Sam Harris.
>>1845952
>natural morality
It doesn't exist. The end.
Also:
>complaining that Ted talks try to push an agenda
Lmao that's literally the whole point of them.
>>1845973
>It doesn't exist. The end.
Yes it does
>complaining that Ted talks try to push an agenda
>Lmao that's literally the whole point of them.
Some ted talks are insightful.

Could America have built a navy to rival Britains in the late 19th century (1880s to 1900)?
Why didn't they?
Could Britain have sustained an arms race with the Yanks and Germans both?
And lastly, how did American ship designs of the era rate against Royal Navy vessels?
pic related, it's a Japanese image of a Yank admiral
>>1845914
>Could America have built a navy to rival Britains in the late 19th century (1880s to 1900)?
Yes, very probably.
>Why didn't they?
Because it would've been too expensive and the West was not yet sufficiently settled and the Panama Canal hadn't been built so coordination would've been a clusterfuck.
>Could Britain have sustained an arms race with the Yanks and Germans both?
Probably, honestly.
>And lastly, how did American ship designs of the era rate against Royal Navy vessels?
They were ok
>>1845914
>Why didn't they?
Until Spanish-American war USA was largely isolationist until Theodore "War is fun" Roosevelt joined the game.
America GDP was rising quick near the end of 19th century. It easily surpassed China and India (as well as UK).
So it had the economic muscle to out produce warships if they needed.
Was it possible for the British to have won the American War of Independence and what could they have done to secure victory?
Not have this twit as a general and it was in the bag.
>>1845874
Give them a few token MPs
>>1845874
They could have killed all of the Masonic families in England when they had the chance. Without George Washington and Ben Franklin's masonic connections in France, the Americans would have had no funding and no competent generals.
