To my admittedly not-comprehensive understanding, post-modernism is a rejection of many modernist and Enlightenment-influenced ideologies. Rejection of objectivity as a whole, penultimate subjectivity. From wiki:

"[Postmodernism] asserts that knowledge and truth are the product of unique systems of social, historical, or political discourse and interpretation, and are therefore contextual and constructed to varying degrees. Accordingly, postmodern thought is broadly characterized by tendencies to epistemological and moral relativism, pluralism, self-referentiality, and irony"

Whats interesting is that it is defined by what it is not while being defined by exactly what it is.

Which is a five-dollar way of saying post-modernism says no structures are real and only as real as they are perceived to be real, which makes them real to the perciever but not real in a "real" sense (at least not to others), all the while solidifying postmodernisms own reality by being seen as a real structure that is or isnt viable as a reality depending on your viewpoint.

There's no end goal. It's just questioning the assumptions of modernism. It comes out of the social sciences, which tell us that humans are biased little cockroaches and don't give a shit about any kind of objective truth. Taken as a critique, it's a valid and makes modernist rationalism stronger.

If taken too far, it becomes a kind of intellectual nihilism where you believe nothing.

The other direction is you divert it into identity politics and become a post-modernist radical. Feminists, anti-racist, etc.

They didn't, unless you count the spread of humans out of Africa. Australians look like Africans because everyone around the tropics looked that way before lighter-skinned agriculturalists spread out of East Asia and the Middle East. Southeast Asians used to look like that before they were replaced by rice-farmers coming from southern China and Taiwan, and plenty of Indians still look very dark in the south. Australians and New Guineans were never replaced, because nobody ever settled in Australia while New Guinea had its own agriculture.
