>Not educating yourself on the actions of your ancestors and feeling sorry for it
This is literally the last stage of historical analysis
If you haven't PERSONALLY sought out and made recompense to all aggrieved parties you cannot be considered a historian or even a history enthusiast. You are a mere news reader. A sponge of past events with no agency

I'm ok with that
Are your children going to apologize for you shitting up this board?
my grandfathers fought for and genuinely believed in communist
#sorrynotsorry
Why is history channel allowed to get away with this?
HOL UP

Because you can't object to it without appearing racist.

It's very probably that Hanbibal was black, by our modern definition. North Africa has had a substantial black population since antiquity, and even those we describe as brown would have had lots of black admixture.
There's much more reason to be upset about portrayals of Cleopatra that make her black.
How did one singer leave such an irrevocable mark on Western pop culture?
A white guy who steals from black people.
People in the 1950s weren't ready to have their world turned on its head like that

Was joseon dynasty in Korea just a shitty copy of the ming dynasty? All their court dresses look the same as the ming.
>>2092846
Sorta.
Made worse when the Ming fell. Literally went >WE WUZ MING/SMALL CHINA N SHIET until the Manchus told them to shut, look em in the eye, and saying "Look at me, I am Chinese Emperor now."

Seriously, I have no clue qhat postmodernism is getting at.
Is it a rejection of all preestablished structure and human thought in favor of something completely new? I try looking stuff up about it but i only get barebones information about its contrast to modernism.
To my admittedly not-comprehensive understanding, post-modernism is a rejection of many modernist and Enlightenment-influenced ideologies. Rejection of objectivity as a whole, penultimate subjectivity. From wiki:
"[Postmodernism] asserts that knowledge and truth are the product of unique systems of social, historical, or political discourse and interpretation, and are therefore contextual and constructed to varying degrees. Accordingly, postmodern thought is broadly characterized by tendencies to epistemological and moral relativism, pluralism, self-referentiality, and irony"
Its a shill if you ask me goym
Whats interesting is that it is defined by what it is not while being defined by exactly what it is.
Which is a five-dollar way of saying post-modernism says no structures are real and only as real as they are perceived to be real, which makes them real to the perciever but not real in a "real" sense (at least not to others), all the while solidifying postmodernisms own reality by being seen as a real structure that is or isnt viable as a reality depending on your viewpoint.

There's no end goal. It's just questioning the assumptions of modernism. It comes out of the social sciences, which tell us that humans are biased little cockroaches and don't give a shit about any kind of objective truth. Taken as a critique, it's a valid and makes modernist rationalism stronger.
If taken too far, it becomes a kind of intellectual nihilism where you believe nothing.
The other direction is you divert it into identity politics and become a post-modernist radical. Feminists, anti-racist, etc.

Why was corporal punishment in militaries banned?
Is corporal punishment on adult males ineffective?
Why was it useful for pre-modern armies but banned in modern armies?
nowadays soldiers are citizens, in older times they were considered scum
>>2092700
Do citizens have stronger constitutions than scum such that whipping them has no effect?
>>2092691
It lowers morale, encourages desertion and create mistrust with your higher ups; Today's military doctrine hinges on good cooperation not only between comrades but with your higher ups.
Besides Corporal punishment does not work on children either.
So /his/, I come to you with a question about a potential payday for me.
I've been going through my grandpa's coin collection of ~5000+ coins that have been sitting in the attic of my grandmother's house for over 40 years and I've just come across I coin I need some help with.
I know that most 1943 pennies were made of steel and appear silver in color but there were a few copper 1943s produced and released by error that are worth $60,000+. I just found this in a case marked "1943 steel (?)" but it appears to be copper. It also does not stick to a magnet like a normal steel penny and the 3 does not look like a filed 8.
What do I have here?
Here's the reverse side
I don't know dude? Take it to a fucking coin shop for something. Do you honestly think people here are going to answer your stupid question?
>>2092634
Seems like a /biz/ question to me
>Movie is set in late roman empire
>LORICA SEGMENTATA
REEEEEEEEEEEE
is there ANY movie or series, from any country that portrays the late western roman empire accurately?
>>2092599
Is there any movie that portrays any point in ancient or medieval history accurately?
That bugs the heck out of me, it's like if Saving Private Ryan had the Americans in Minutemen getup.
I personally think that Late Romans look quite cool but nobody else seems to think so
>>2092890
they looked quite barbarian tho
>lmao dude trust me when you die you don't really die you actually live forever I know this because of my fever dreams now you have to do x and y just the way I say
when and why did people start to take this shit seriously? do you suppose religion predates us, and maybe even goes back before proto humanity?
did we invent time or was it always there
Damn dude, really makes me think.
I know you aren't intelligent enough to properly articulate this, but what you're trying to ask is "When did Existentialism enter the west's common zeitgeist?"

Hello. I'm east asian.
Why is our history so pathetic and void of any worthy achievements after the 15th to 16th century? Was it stagnation with our civilization or something else? We practically produced no new innovations and practically remained the same until we modernized with European science and discovery in the 19th and 20th century.
Y'all just missed out on the Renaissance, the New World's resources, and the Industrial revolution. Once you got caught up to speed, you fared far better than the Muslim, Africans, or South Americans.

Colonialism/capitalism

We could have just gotten our shit together and invaded and conquered Southeast Asia turn them all into our slaves.
Every time I loose an argument on the internet.
>>2092508
Is it true that finns have asian blood or is it an urban legend?
Yes, part of their ancestry migrated from the east and racemixed with caucasians in Eastern Europe.
>>2092486
>migrated
>muh mongols did nothing wrong! it was a peaceful migration!
Finns are the same thing as the Sami.
Why did Africans migrated to Australia instead of Asians? Shouldnt it be more logical for east asians/siberian,mongols to migrate to Australia?
>>2092437
....you realize Africans went everywhere right? You all also get all of south and southeast Asia were very dark brown as well until about 10-2kya
They didn't, unless you count the spread of humans out of Africa. Australians look like Africans because everyone around the tropics looked that way before lighter-skinned agriculturalists spread out of East Asia and the Middle East. Southeast Asians used to look like that before they were replaced by rice-farmers coming from southern China and Taiwan, and plenty of Indians still look very dark in the south. Australians and New Guineans were never replaced, because nobody ever settled in Australia while New Guinea had its own agriculture.
>>2092470
They don't really look like each other.
