would lincoln really have let the southern states keep their slaves if they rejoined the union?
>>2308178
No, he'd ship them off back to Africa where they would belong.
Sadly Booth killed him before he could ever do that. It really surprises me how many liberals support the Union when it was literally more racist than the Confederacy if you think about it.
They should be burning Union flags instead of Confederate ones.

i dont see what's so racist about that

Does carrying out tasks at the responsibility of a superior authority make you innocent, no matter if these tasks are against ethics?
Why is defending the white race against ethics?
depends on the orders. if you're like a delivery guy for a secret installation developing a terrible new weapon that kills tons of civilians but you had absolutely no idea what was going on inside you probably shouldn't be held to the same account as the guy who actually used the weapon
It's a bullshit copout. The fault lies as much on the man who pulled the trigger as the man who gave the order, and the man who relayed it down the line without question.

>>2307618
hmm at this point muslims weren't actively invading so to call the motives an act of retribution is disingenuous. Though acts of violence towards pilgrims by muslims might also have been a motive.
It was rather initiated by the Pope by request of the Byzantines which he hoped would lead to unification of the churches.
How valid is the "Rome fell because of moral degeneracy and immigration" narrative?
The fact that essentially no modern day professional historians espouse that explanation and the only people who do are modern day reactionaries using it to bolster their own agenda should give you a pretty good idea
>>2307588
Next to zero credibility. Multiple military coups, a military more loyal to their general than their Empire, increasing ruralization of the population, pressure from invading Germanics, and poor administration of lands/collection of taxes are the largest causes.
>>2307588
>immigration
that's a little different from the forceful invasion by various tribes. though I think the ostro-goths or some group were allowed to settle within the empire after being displaced by invading Huns
When this UN (United Nations) become such a joke?
What's the point of this organization?
>>2307488
>What's the point of this organization?
Promoting economic development and foreign aid. It has always sucked at stopping conflicts but it does a decent job in regards to humanitarian stuff
>>2307488
They provide a framework for multiple international organizations that do a lot of good, like WHO. Though /pol/ is retarded and if it doesn't have enough whites and a military force it is useless.
The UN is a cornerstone of the post-WW2 established order that has been responsible for the most peaceful & prosperous epoch in human history.

While Greece borrowed things from its neighbors
much of Greek philosophy and science was uniquely Greek, especially Aristotle who is really the first systematic thinker in history.

So he is pretty much confirmed for being wrong by now right?
In his book he made the point that Islamic Fundamentalism will not supersede liberalism because it has no appeal outside the middle east, but recent events would prove that to be untrue, and he never even brought up the impact of immigration.
Massive influxes of muslim populations into places like Europe, and the partial adoption of sharia law in fucking England of all places, has got to be a sign that he underestimated Islam.
AND the Arab Spring was a massive defeat for liberalism since the tyrannical governments that were replaced were replaced not with liberal governments, but with Islamic governments. It cant even be said that liberalism wouldnt allow the nasty bits of Islam to take root, if the absolutely disastrous state of the European refugee crisis isnt proof of that enough.

What the hell is this book going on about? This is a school-issued book and it seems incredibly biased. One part even said that Europeans took ideas from more "advanced societies", what does this even mean?
Am I overreacting or do you guys have some other stories and examples of obvious bias in textbooks?
They did often take ideas from more advanced societies.
Maybe the book accentuates how much because of an agenda but that statement isn't incorrect.
>>2306971
>One part even said that Europeans took ideas from more "advanced societies",
In what context? If they're talking about neolithic or the bronze or iron ages, or even the early middle ages, there's nothing wrong with that. If it's about the early modern period then yeah, that's biased; Europeans did adopt ideas from abroad but they were hardly more 'advanced'.
>>2306971
Everyone took ideas from more advanced societies except for the progenitors of civilization like the Sumerians, Egyptians, Olmecs, Chinese.
