Why didn't colonists convert Islamic African countries to Christian ones?
29 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2306104
They clearly christianised most of the other ones as you can see
>>
>>2306104
>>2306126
Islam is harder to convert because they have a set scripture that is widely distributed and can be easily acquired by most Muslims. The religions they converted were largely oral, and when they did have a scripture it was either burnt or simply lost to time, hence why many of them ended up converting to Christianity.
>>
>>2306104
Because peer pressure is easier to put on Pagans then

Even then this map is kidney ehh.. because many of those Christian are in name only or put a shit ton of folk religion and beliefs in it. Same applies to Islam in Islams case there was the whole you'll be shunnd by your family if you convert while pagan>Christian it's "hey you want to be Christian right like everyone else?/you want to be treated marginally better?"

Like in many parts of Africa Muslim and Christian's freely intermarry a lot and you have many multi religious households.

Why is Napoleon held in such high regard? His empire lasted like 2 decades and was captured by England and sent to die on some island near Africa. After his damage France be an irrelevant shithole. Also he was Italian and not even French.

He did conquer half of Europe.

Because he really was a military genius on par with Alexander and Caesar and also didn't commit any huge atrocities (according to 19 century standards) so he wasn't really hated by his enemies.

Why did Africa in general got worse after colonialism?

It didn't, Africa as a whole is far wealthier now than under colonialism, and not counting basket cases like Somalia and Libya nearly the whole continent has had year after year of steady growth even during the long recession in the West.

By what measure. Several of those countries would be starving without foreign aid provided by western countries

On the Great Seal of the United States, that symbol had nothing to do with Egyptians or Pyramids.

The Eye was placed their by a member of the Hellfire club, a Freemason named Benjamin Franklin.

pic related is the original symbol.

The first pyramid used in the Great Seal (pic related) was in the style of an Aztec pyramid or step pyramid, from Mexico, which was where the idea came from.

The Aztec pyramid is actually an Altar.

Why do certain individuals try to portray certain civilizations as Black in origin?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2309651
To give themselves a sense of pride in their "heritage."
Whether or not it's true doesn't matter to them. Feeling good does. Bullshitting hard enough that they believe it themselves only serves that purpose.
Otherwise it is usually just shitposting.
>>
laugh all you want at ridiculous WE WUZisms, but the modern academic discipline of history only really developed in the mid-late 19th century so that leaders could come up with nationalistic origin stories for their country to further an us vs them narrative. Prior to that "history" was mainly just studying the classics.

A porno could be the most timeless thing ever, more timeless than any classic movie. If you'd get 2 people, completely naked from the start, shave all their hair everywhere , and let them fuck on a floor completely free of decoration, like just a white room, plus you don't let them talk, just fuck, then it would be completely timeless, agreed?

No. Personal hygiene changes.

What? You could have a naked hairless man walk around a white room and it would be equally timeless.

No we are just more knowledgeable, but most humans today are retards compared to ancient Greek citizens.
>>
>>2309515
everyone is a product of their time.

The ancient greeks had both an obligation and incentive to not be complete idiots.

We have quite a high standard of living today allowing for a wider margin of incompetence and obligation for us exists only as a legal term.

id argue that very few people today are actually smarter than isaac newton.
how many people today could actually redevelop calculus?

Did warlike societies like Vikings and Mongols that engaged in raiding, looting and rape feel any remorse over their actions? Or is universal compassion for all humans beings and respect for human life a social construct that developed later on?

After I recent trip to Israel I learned some interesting things, such as the early Jews/Israelites were originally polytheists before choosing one god in their pantheon. In context of the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament, the first commandment says, "I am the Lord your God, and you shall have none beside me." Growing up, many are taught things like money or pride can be "false gods." However, it seems to me that this commandment is literally talking about other deities of some sort.

Whether or not you believe in some sort of divine creator, does this indicate that other gods could be "real" (even insofar as a thoughtform) and if so, what does this say about organized religion in general? How can monotheism be valid if God acknowledged the existence of other deities? Or if you don't believe in God, that His ancient followers believed in other such deities?

>it seems to me that this commandment is literally talking about other deities of some sort.
Ding ding ding

There's also a story in the Old Testament where Moses and his brother Aaron go to bug the Pharaoh some more, and the Pharaoh calls out his court magicians who turn all their staffs into snakes. Not to be outdone, Aaron throws down his staff and it turns into an even bigger snake and swallows them all. Goes to show that Moses' god is not the ONLY god, just the best and most powerful
>>
Gods are created socially by the societies that develop them. This doesn't mean that there isn't a single "god" out there, it just means that we've been missing the mark for what there may or may not be.

Look into philosophical descriptions of God. Plotinus, Spinoza, Epictetus, even Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu might offer some advice here.
>>
Monotheism did not develop overnight, the notion of the Jewish god being the only God, as opposed to just the only God we worship took many centuries.

Look at a prayer like the me chamocha as an example of this, "who among the mighty is like you" of all the gods you're the best.

In Judaism, the punishment for apostasy, adultery, blasphemy and disobeying your parents is death. Why do Jews no longer stone to death those who commit aforementioned crimes but Muslims do?

European subversion of traditional Judaic values.

Largely because you don't have enough influence from the Jewish religious circles to set up religious courts and execute people who commit such acts.

There are, by the way, people who pine for such things.

Good morning /his/

This is my first attempt on this board. I am currently researching a legal topic in all countries of the European Union. I would be thankful if posters from various EU countries could give me indications about the state of the question I am researching in their country.

The question is the following : do criminal proceedings in your country pause civil proceedings related to the same matter until a criminal ruling has been made?

I am particularly interested in the attitude of Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Ireland regarding this point.

Also, if I could be provided the precise statutes governing this issue, it would be optimal.

Thank you in advance.
