I know that Jesus really died in a cross according to most historians and scholars, but what about the apostles? Is there any evidence of their deaths as portrayed by the church?

I always figured it was because the individual people in the artwork were not supposed to be the focus, but rather the art as a whole was supposed to be the focus. Like the event or what was being depicted in the artwork.

Unexpectedly good. It's generalizing a lot, but that's pretty inevitable when dealing with a huge continent and a billion different peoples.

The first part, about how the lack of native state-structures impeded development compared to places like India and Southeast Asia seems interesting to me. I think people tend to overlook the importance of premodern history in shaping the modern world, as if the only stuff that really matters is colonial or post-colonial history. For example, I'd say Japan's success in the modern world owes more to the fact that it was so highly developed in the Tokugawa period than it does to the specific policies of the Meiji regime, while Ethiopia's failure owes above all to its complete lack of development prior to the 20th century rather than its Communist regime. Not that the Meiji and Derg regimes didn't both shape their countries' modern developments, but they would not have done so in the way that they did if not for the the conditions already prevailing in those countries, which have their roots centuries ago.

Anyway here's a paper about this in Uganda; http://sticerd.lse.ac.uk/dps/eopp/eopp39.pdf

Hi, I have a few questions about trenches I'm hoping someone here could help answer.

>If trenches were long lines in no man's land, how did supply reach them? They'd have to cross over further no man's land to reach the trench surely?

>How long were trenches? did they just abruptly stop?

>Why did Trench Warfare begin when its tactics could be employed equally in wars in the years prior?

>Did soldiers have little bunkers inside the trenches they slept in? How did they get shelter?

Hasn’t history proven that Marx’s vision of an egalitarian utopia is unattainable, inevitably creating an oligarchy more oppressive to the proletariat than the bourgeoisie it vilifies?

Communism has never been tried.
>>
Maybe?

Marxist or not I think most people envision the far future as Utopic and this current era as a growing pain. I mean if we extrapolate increasing living standards, technological growth and cheapness of food into the far future that is, while ignoring all of the other major problems.
>>
>>2308134
The problem with a Utopia is that you have to let people live in it. I foresee land ownership being a focal point of contention in the next century as landowners and advocates of individual rights will clash with those seeking to mandate environmental and agricultural control for the betterment (and equal distribution) of society as a whole.

It's inception was sound and really necessary considering the possibility of future Persian incursions. Best to fight the Persians with a united naval force amongst the Ionian Greeks than risk facing Persian power on Greek soil. Yeah Athens became dicks and turned the league into their personal empire however that strength and hegemony detered Persian interests.

Tldr; the Delian league served a purpose and enriched Athens but detered 3.0 The Persians Return after a 2.0 Persia strikes back
