Can we get a /his/ naval thread going here?
Anything goes -- From rowing and ramming stuff in antiquity and medieval periods, broadside cannon voleys and boarding aaction from the age of sail, ironclads and how the fuck they even managed to fight each other, surface/submarine/aircraft carrier battles from the World Wars.
>Who are some underrated naval commanders?
>What are some underappreciated or badass naval battles?
>Any /his/ approved navy film/tv/literature you like?
>you will never witness an epic naval battle between Egyptians and Sea People at the gates of the Nile
>you will never row a ship up the Seine and go hold Paris for random
>you will never use your traditional Polynesian sailing skills to across a thousand miles of open ocean in a hollowed out tree
>you will never unleash Greek fire upon barbarians
>you will never sink the ARA Belgrano
>you will never hit Italian ships with radio guided bombs before they can defect to the allies
As a person who enjoys sailing, I sometimes find myself awash in these feels.

Tell me /his/ what is the pros and cons of spanking your children as punishment?
I'm talking about spanking that does not cross the line of abuse.
Whats the pros and cons of it
And why are we stopping it at this age?
>>2612834
>I'm talking about spanking that does not cross the line of abuse.
one of the biggest problems with spanking is that the line is very easily and often crossed, it's a slippery slope
too lazy to write about pros and cons but that's the main point i wanted to make
TL;DR Clinical trials seem to suggest that children who get spanked don't turn out any better or worse than children who don't.
If the parents lie about spanking their children, or if they go beyond spanking, then it tends to cause harm to the child.
>>2612834
Spanking kids is literally worse than hitting women. It's abuse.
Why was the '80s such a cultural blackhole? Why did so few big developments in literature, film, music, painting, etc come out of this decade compared to the two on either side?
I look at the 70s as a black hole, the 80s were tubular my man.
The 80's were by no means perfect, but it was far from a black hole. gun to my head I'd say the 90's were devoid of any meaningful culture, but my memory of the decade was hazy.
>>2612830
>a cultural black hole
Compared to what? I think you could argue the contemporary era is much worse. What "pop artists" are going be be remembered 25 years from now?
How do I become a REAL history buff? Where do I go if I want a deeper than wikipedia level understanding of historical events?
have you tried reading books?
read books, that's it.
no, documentaries don't count. they can compliment your knowledge but should not be the foundation.
>>2612768

Will true Christianity ever be restored in our lifetime?
>>2612649
Lets hope not. True Christianity is about as compatible with liberal society as true Islam
Sounds a lot like no true scotsman phallusy
>>2612660
Christ's basic message in terms of social behavior is be excellent to one another. Turn the other cheek etc. If anything modern liberalism would love this stuff.
has it ever happened that a minority did everything right to convince the majority of an idea, to change their mind or behavior, and still hadn't succeeded?
>>2612639
Are you asking if a group has ever failed to change society? Yes, obviously, all the fucking time. Google "activist group" and see the countless millions of ineffective groups in your country alone.

Rhodesia
Black rhodesians knew it was for their good
Rhodesia falls to foreign armies
>>2612658
>Are you asking if a group has ever failed to change society?
I was thinking about groups that seemed to be effective and find resonance in the majority, but for (external) reasons didn't manage to
Would Germany be better off if the Kapp Putsch succeeded instead of the NSDAP coming into power?
>>2612601
Yes. Almost anything would have been better than Nazis.

Hitler losing the war seal the doom of Europe
Hey so do catholic vegetarians eat communion wafers? Doesn't that count as eating meat?
>it's another 'anon doesn't understand Aristotelian metaphysics' episode
Is there anywhere you can buy them in bulk. They are kind of tasty. I imagine cream cheese would go good with them
>unleavened bread
absolutely heretical
Who was the most destructive person in the history of the West?
My vote goes to Hegel for paving the way to communism, fascism, nihilism, existentialism, psychoanalytic theory, postmodernism, and anarchism.
That's some Bold Claim.
Do people honestly believe that fascism and Communism only happened because of Hegel? Or are all posts like OP's trolls?
Hitler for sure.
Everything that's wrong with the modern Europe can be traced back to his autismo.
He took the German retarded ideology and put it in action and now everything is bleak and hopeless for western civilization.
Instead of perpetuate the tradition and opress the opressed, some powerful men (like Kennyo Hongenji in Japan, Artigas in South America and Lenin in Russia) choose to take side with the opressed and help them with their cause.
Why?
what do you know about Artigas OP?
>>2612537
He was an uruguayan warlord that gathered natives, gauchos, negroes and criollos to declare independence in behalf of certain platinean provinces.
>>2612547
well that´s only partially true
are you argentinian
How do we make Communism work?
>>2612394
can't. It is something that doesn't work.
>>2612394

With authoritarianism.

Trying to git gud at Latin
how THE FUCK do you learn alveolar trills? American here, I feel like my tongue just can't do it.
Based Roman architecture thread
>>2612321
Italian fluent latin speaker and reader. AMA, American friend.
Pronunciation doesn't matter because there's literally no way to know how they spoke the language out loud. As long as you don't pronounce it like church latin you're fine
Latin thread?
How would I say "Keep talking"?
"Perge fārī"?
