Let's discuss SBCs ITT, what we're looking at, what we have, what we use it for, etc.
Here's an incomplete list of common SBCs out there for newcomers.

didn't see this thread before i posted mine
I'm wanting to get a knockoff Arduino starter kit. Mainly for learning assembly, and embedded C programming.
I'm leaning towards getting the Mega because it has 256k vs 16k of flash storage. The first thing I want to make is a play pretend hardware accelerator for huffman encoding compression.
Off topic but what sensor modules are neat to play with?
>>55385067
What's the board pictured? The VGA and SATA ports are very intriguing for my project:
I have an original iMac that's sorta-broken and I want to replace the motherboard with something more interesting (but keep the CRT because why not). A proper PC wouldn't fit unless I also replace the CRT with an LCD, so something like the raspberry pi is ideal, except that HDMI output is counterproductive.
woah... so this is the power of nvidia...
>>55385038
You call that power?
whoa
>3gb
Why all of my fucking why
I just want to play 1080p on a budget. Looks like rx470 for me
What printer does /g/ use?

>printing
>not distrubituting digitally
Stop ruining the enviroment faggot.
>>55384929
Some used inkjet I bought on eBay for 20% of the highest rated poorfag laserjet that was new on Newegg. Only real need for printing at home is the occasional government document and my CV when I get fired; scanner with large feeder tray is most important.

>this guy never needs a physical copy of anything
>never needs to scan in something either, which 99% of printers nowadays have as a function
pls
Help me decide on what browser to use.
Chromium:
Pros: Faster, feels lighter, loads webpages and switches tabs faster, all around a somewhat better experience.
Cons: Uses more CPU and RAM, made by Google, I'm signed into Google with it, so I have no privacy with it.
Firefox:
Pros: Can change it around a metric fuckton more than Chromium, privacy is respected and can be (is for me) enhanced, uses less RAM and CPU.
Cons: Responds and feels slower, locks up at times, among other slow-ness.
Help me decide /g/. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit.
firefox esr

Reasons to distrust Chromium:
* Downloads binary blobs silently and executes them with user privilege https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=786909
* Contacts Google's servers regardless of user's settings https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=792580
>>55384972
Esr?
>>55384976
Yikes, that bites.
If you weren't an unmotivated lazy-ass, who spends 25 hours a day on /g/, how far do you think you would have made it professionally in life by now?
I'd probably be fucking your wife's daughter.
no, I'd just be wasting time somewhere else
some people are just born to fail
I should probably end it all, but I'm too unmotivated for that even

Main Display is 1 1440x900 90Hz and 1 1080p display.
So far system has been running fine for the past five years.
Nothings really held it back and I have yet to, encounter a game/program that I could not handle. As of late, it appears that chrome and a few other programs seem to be only utilize one thread out of the 12, it maxes out the single thread pretty quickly and it becomes a stutterfest. It didn't do that before on Windows 8 or seven, maybe it's windows 10 that's doing it or maybe it's just old. Also, it's seems to output a fuckton of heat now. Was thinking about selling the system and grabbing a third or fourth GEN i7 with 6 cores because they about $100 on eBay. What do you think?
>>55384785
Upgrade the ssd or actually just rebuild.

OP's pic looks like what would happen if you bred a rat with a human. Seriously, what is that thing?

You have one attempt to explain to me why buying a Roku or any similar device isn't fucking stupid.
Go.

/comfy/ness of mobile on the big screen
If you have a plex server it's the greatest thing in the world. If you have netflix it's okay. If you don't have either it's useless.
Roku has absolute shit UI please consider another option like a WD box or Apple TV simply because the UI isnt ass

I don't get it.

One frees you from botnet, other kills your monitor.
I'm guessing they're the video output for the lower half.
So the monitor would no longer function.
I'm looking to get an aftermarket cooler for my i7 4790k. I don't know if it's because it's summer where I am and it's getting up to 84 at the height of the afternoon, but I was recently playing Saints Row IV on my 980ti, and I was reaching up to 76 degrees, albeit I am playing on 144hz 2560x1440, highest settings, but when it starts to near 80, I get a little scared. It says in CPU core that the cpu can handle 100 degrees. Yeah, house didn't come with an a/c, and not sure if I can just install one since I rent. I mean, even just now, I have an instance of Firefox open, typing this, a Youtube video playing, and those are the only applications open, and I'm sitting at 37 degrees. I mean, should I expect this?
>>55384571
84 degrees in my room that is, and Idk if it's the highest settings, but just the default settings, I didn't change anything really.
If you're going to have a monster set up like that of course you should get an aftermarket cooler, hell even an AIO. You'll be just fine in summer heat with it. Oh yeah, that is normal temps at that heat.
Fuck off with your gaymer problems already
>writing a long post
>accidentally press F5
>page reloads and your post is GONE
>no warning message, no prompt, no nothing
>you go through all the five stages of grief within the timespan of five minutes
When Safari was on Windows, I remember that if you had entered data into a text field and you tried to reload, it would warn you and prompt you whether you wanted to discard said data.
Why can't other browsers do the same thing? I've now resorted to writing long posts in a text editor to avoid this incident and the accompanying roller coaster of negative emotions from ever happening again.
>I've now resorted to not being a complete fucktard when writing long posts so I don't accidentally press wrong keys like a toddler with a toy avoiding the embarassment of needing to post this on my personal blog on the internet

How do you do that? It's not anywhere near anything that would be remotely useful during the writing on a post.
