I'm getting a GTX 1080 and I'm looking for a good monitor. At the moment I'm using a 1920 monitor so I'll be using that one as a second monitor. The goal here is a 1440p monitor 144hz (25inch is fine). The thing is I really don't know shit about monitors.
Anyone have good suggestions for a monitor?

Getting the exact same graphics card for a build I'm buying a couple of days. For the monitor I chose the Asus PG279Q ROG Swift. It's 27 inches, 165hz and 1440p. Besides that it's also compatible with G-sync.

The only limitation is the price tag since this shit isn't cheap. But I imagine a monitor like this will last you for a long, long time. LinusCuckTips did a video about it too if you want to go check it out.
>>
>>55390479
The price is a bit too high for my liking. Thanks for the tip though. It looks like a good monitor.

Maybe I'm a fucking idiot. But here's the deal: I dont't have a disc drive on my newly built computer, so I used an old computer to get the drivers that came with the morherboard onto an usb stick.

But now I'm stuck. I installed windows 7 from a usb no problem, but I cannot get the fucking usb to appear on windows, which makes my computer a fucking vegetable

How the hell do I make my usb ports able to read the data on the usb? I cannot boot from it because it is just exe files and shit. I have my usb shoved into an usb 2 port and it gets recognized in the bios. What to do?

>>55389783
use a linux livecd such as systemrescuecd to boot from usb and copy the drivers to your windows drive
>>
>>55389805
Okay. But won't making the usb bootable will make me unable to put the drivers on there?

no you can make a bootable usb in fat32, simply
add a folder on the usb with the drivers. use rufus to make the bootable usb (pic related)

Hello from Poland /g/

My old pc that I got as payment for making bathroom is getting old, new games are not as fast anymore.
I haven't kept up with technology so I have no clue where to look and what is good.
I want to know if I can still upgrade it or if it is a loss now and need to start from scratch.

I'm a modest man and don't need much. Can i do with just GPU?

CPU: Q6600 G0
Cooler: Artic 7 Pro
MOBO: MSI P7N SLI PLATINUM
MEM: 2x2gb ddr3 1066
GPU: Zotac 9600GT
PSU: Cooler Master Real Power M520
HDD: Seagate 1GB
Case: Antec 900

Mouse & screen & keyboard are all good.

>>
Get a new GPU.
The Q6600 is old but not as completely outdated as the GPU.

Also get an SSD.

consider a new GPU and a new SSD to be both required here.
As for which new GPU, doesn't really matter. Set a budget and just get the best you can in that price
>>
>>55389463
No. Put the ssd budget into cpu and gpu.

Upgrade to an i3 6100 and rx480, or better yet, buy a workstation with an i5 2500 and slap in an ssd and gpu.
>>
Honestly just this >>55389463

You will notice that installing an SSD and moving your OS and files onto it will make the computer 5x faster in general. Your mechanical hard drive is really slow. SSD prices are coming down and here in the UK you can get a 500GB SSD for about £120.

Also what the guy didn't say is RAM. 4GB is kind of on the low side nowadays. Still maybe ok for games but you will notice stuttering and lag on full settings. Consider getting 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 RAM

If you're updating your CPU/GPU you may need to find a compatible new motherboard as well

What the fuck is that pic?

Do people seriously call that "drawing"?

Are Hackintoshes a meme? Does generic hardware mostly work nowadays or will I hate life and wish I stuck to Linux?
30 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Just stick to Linux. It's totally not worth it. Compatibility is shit, kernel panics are still common, endless hours of browsing forums and retarded blogs, anxiety when an update comes out, shit breaks all the time.

Biggest drawback is being constrained in terms of hardware. Use Linux, use whatever hardware you want, enjoy it.
>>
>>55389409
That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.

If the prices were even remotely comparable I'd have no problem paying a bit extra for a Mac, but fuck me the price/performance of the current Macbooks is inexcusable.
>>
They definitely have their upsides but are nowhere near worth the pricetag, stick with Linux unless you just really hate money and feel you should have less of it.
