Didn't see a vim/neovim thread so here is a thread
I have a basic question, how do I repeat the workflow of opening 2 tabs, copying a line or two of text from one tab to the other while switching between each other, in vim?
Most guides just explain the commands, not really how to do even slightly advanced stuff.
First for fucking EMACS
You VIM KEKS can go and blow a MASSIVE ton of dicks as per USUAL.
HEIL EMACS
>>55388706
Nice way to promote your jewish editor, instead of making a thread like I did, you come in here and shit up mine.
That will definitely encourage a few people to switch from vim to emacs.
>>55388747
HOLY SHIT I bet you jewish little cunt is from Canada.
Eat SHIT.
EMACS 5 LYFE YOU NIGG
haven't bought a motherboard in pretty much around 10 years, and back then MSI was synonymous with solid build, quality and efficience. They were the "professional grade" tier of motherboards, built to last.
now it seems the whole word is shitting on MSI, and I see they do a lot of "gamer" oriented stuff.
tell me, /g/, what is so bbad about new MSI, what happened and why?
dont ignore me you fucks
>>55388648
I too would like information on motherboards
>>55388648
Nothing is wrong with MSI.
Why does /g/ hate windowed cases?
If it looks nice inside why not show it off?
Le gayming PC xDdDDDdD
>>55388656
>poorfag
>>55388656
Okay yeah I understand it doesn't always look professional to have a window, but some builds look very nice internally, why not have a window?
Hey /g/ quick question about ports.
Assuming the following is true:
A port is pretty much just an address a process is listening for incoming traffic on.
If you set up a server nothing is forcing you to use any specific port even though standards suggest you use certain ports like 80 for http.
If I set up a FTP server and set it to listen on port 80 instead of 21,
Could I connect to it and use it as an FTP server over port 80 if I was behind a router that blocks all ports but 80?

Yes.
>>55388708
Thank you.
Good job Adobe, good job.
HOWEVER
>>55388543
Is that built for Windows 10 running on Windows 7?

You have brought this upon yourself

Still shit design
x86 is an architecture, so it basically says which words the processor should understand and what should it do after it understood them. So, how can different processors be different if they have the same number of cores and same speed? I.e. if I have an i5, quad core, no strange Technologies like HT, and an equally quad core from AMD with the same clock speed, what makes the difference in performance? Smaller transistors may make it consume less power, but it should be equal, right? or is it like with logic gates, that you may have the same result with two different approaches?
x86 is an instruction set, not an architecture.
Architectures can be x86 but x86 isn't an architecture by itself
>>55388514
X86 is an instruction set.
AMD and intel both make hardware which implement these instructions. A "core" is not one thing, they are all vastly, vastly different.
>>55388514
Because one instruction does not necessarily take one cycle to execute.
A single SIMD instruction can take anywhere from 2 to 8 cycles to fully execute.
Each subsequent generation of processors generally push down the number of cycles required to execute fat instructions like SIMD.
Didn't know whether to go to >>>/wsr/ or here since I suppose it's tech support but don't know the crossposting rate.
I'm trying to install Windows 7 on an Elitebook, but it won't recognize the live usb upon booting up. It will recognize and boot into my Antergos USB if I use it, and if I put them both in, it will boot to Antergos and then Antergos will have the windows live usb recognized. Anyone know how what's up?
>>55388466
try turning on/off legacy boot
depends on what partition scheme you used
>>55388466
USB should be boot priority no1 you shitbag
>>55388511
It is. It just won't boot to the Windows one for some reason. It's works for the Antergos.
>>55388484
It was a Basic Data, now that I've checked. I don't know if it's been reformatted since I last used it, since it worked just fine on my desktop.

Hey /g/ how did I do on my first gaming build?
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/kpZTHN
I went to /v/ first but they must be retarded because they linked me here.
Wait for the rx 460 and 470 or even the gtx 1050 instead of getting a gtx 950. The 950 is old and you'll get much better price/performance with newer cards.
>>55388432
i3 gamer?
GTFO
Did you just choose the cheapest everything possible?
I need a new case that I won't immediately regret purchasing
I've been using an Antec 902 for 5 years and question my life choices
>>55388354
Bump
>>55388354
Been using these cases for two years now, no regrets so far.
Corsair Carbide 400Q
Corsair Carbide Air 240
Fractal Design S
Fractal Design Nano S
Phanteks Evolv ITX
These are some cases i'm looking into for a new built. maybe you like them or not. just search for them and you'll probably find some more alternatives to them too.

What's some easy to fix shit that's wrong with your pc that you're too lazy to fix?
Pic related is mine, ever since changing mobos w10 only boots when the ssd is manually selected.
>not asking for tech support, fuck off
So how's your computet /g/?
check boot priority?
my pc blue screened after ~8 days of uptime, im worried
>>55388229
My server has a dead CMOS battery. Even though I could hot swap it that would mean having to move it out of the rack, and it never reboots because UPS backed, so fuck it. Last time I had to take it down I just restored BIOS config from a thumbdrive tucked into its gubbins
hey /g/, i've had updates on win 7 disabled since i've got it. which ones should i install?

If it ain't broke don't fix it
>>55388551
If it is vulnerable to 0 days from the release day, update it.
Seriously OP, you're exposing your shit to so much that you can't even imagine.

>>79583692
Have you done CS work? The money is great but most people get tired of the work after a few years. Talk about soul-sucking
>>79583921
Why? can you paint me a picture of the typical day or link to a blog/article that describes why CS stuff is soul-crushing? it seems like it would be comfortable work

Do you think sitting in front of a computer for long hours typing out code is fun?

If you have an access to an electric kettle, nice music, and take intermittent physical activity breaks it could be okay, I guess.
Better than using the internet while earning zero money

I fell for the computer science meme but unlike the 50% of the sperglords who do cs I'm good at it and I found a good job. However I totally agree college is a scam and not worth the cost, especially since you can teach yourself everything using the Internet. You pay for the name and the networking

My friend studied engineering. He got a job that pays well doing diagnostics on predator planes. He can't wait for the day he can quit. STEM jobs definitely have their drawbacks. It can become mind-numbing work
Tell me what do you think of this conbertation /g/

AMD is so shit that Intel once considered giving a bunch of chinks a x86 license just to have competition
Some no name chink company was actually thought of as an alternative to AMD
