Does using a custom ROM and rooting a Nexus 5 really help the battery or is it a meme?
I literally use it for browsing and occasional e-reading at half brightness anyway
What does being a meme have to do with working or not?
I could actually answer your question, but this "does X work or is it le meme" shit Reddit started is annoying as fuck.
>>55939927
That's literally what a meme is. Remember "Don't leave blutooth on, itll kill the battery!"
m e m e
>>55939949
>Literally what a meme is
No it's not, you fucking retard. A meme is a concept that gets spread through a population and evolves in it. It has no relation to trueness.
I just got a laptop with a 160GB SSD and 500GB HDD, and I'm planning to have a multiboot system like so:
Linux Mint as main OS
tuxtrans whenever I need to work
Windows 7 for vidya and for other people who might not be used to anything not Windows
How should I partition & format them? I've also heard about moving programs/disable paging/etc. to the HDD to prevent damaging the SSD. Should I do it or it's not worth the hassle?
>>55939796
Google, you fucking retard
>>55939849
I know how to fucking format, what I'm asking is how SHOULD I do it, as in what's the best partition scheme for such system.
>>55939880
3 small physical partitions, one for windows bootloader, one for GRUB, the other for other shit that might come up, one last extended partition with logical partitions containing all the actual OSes plus a big partition for sharing files between OSes
Hi /g/, why is there such a big fuss about diversity and inclusion in the tech industry?
Apple and Facebook have just released their employee diversity data. What is the significance of getting more women into tech?
Pic unreleated
female engineers are best engineers
Jews
>>55939884
What do they have to do with diversity?
>buy a chinese ssd off of amazon
>it overheats so much that the plastic melts and is not stuck to the drive bay
>>55939650
>and is not stuck to the drive bay
Well at least it's not stuck to the drive bay.
That's why I don't buy Chinese shit. It's bound to break down the moment you unbox it.
>inb4 b-but everything is made in China
Quality control.
>skimping on long-term purchases
nigga you dumb
go cheap for little things and consumable things (food).
for anything that's supposed to last, you get what you pay for.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Do I honestly need a swap partition with 8 GB of RAM?
OpenSUSE Leap: is there any way I can change my laptop fan activity to something the equivalent of the "passive" setting found in windows power management?
>>55939336
swap = ram size *1,5
What do you guys do with virtual machines? I want an excuse to actually use one.
>>55939050
Test out Linux distros and learn how to compile systems before going balls deep on my laptops.
Also gaymes in windows XD
>>55939116
Great! I would like to use it also to test out Linux distros.
>>55939050
A host of boring and experimental stuff. The boring stuff ties into a MAN (direct wireless link) and some of the guests have services that replicate with another location a few miles across town. And then one server in the back of a mobile trailer which connects in via WAN, also utilizing replication.
>hear about the new Nexus sailfish
>first thought is a nexus device running sailfish OS

Any suggestions?

Why?

something along the lines of and EEG?
otherwise you need direct contact with the muscles or nerves which i don't think you want to do.
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/denuvo-has-been-defeated-first-doom-crack-is-now-available/
Denuvo shills on suicide watch.
This is a bypass that uses the appid of the Doom demo on Steam.
This has nothing to do with "cracking" or Denuvo.
It does however go against the Steam TOS, so the account you use to install and activate Doom via the DLauncher.exe will flag the account.
Also, there are a number of hidden processes this Dlauncher.exe program is running which could possibly be keyloggers and trojans and the like.
Stay Safe.
>>55938842
it's going to be 'patched' soon when bethesda removes the doom demo from steam.
denuvo has never been cracked, just bypassed.

So with Kaby Lake confirmed for Q3-Q4 2016 do we have any performance details yet? How much better will it be than skylake?
How many of you are upgrading to Kaby Lake on release? Are you bummed about it no longer supporting Windows 7?
>>55938371
>5% performance boost
Not worth upgrading
>botnet10 only
lol
>>55938371
>How many of you are upgrading to Kaby Lake on release?
Depends on clock speeds.
>Are you bummed about it no longer supporting Windows 7?
I'm already using the botnet.
