I need a diary calendar software for windows
what is the best free and open source diary calendar?
>>55946494
Mozilla Sunbird?
Why do you even care about open source as a Windows user?
>>55946537
because I don't want to download totallynotakeylogger.exe schedule calendars
>People seem happy with getting haswell performance in 2016 or quite possibly in early 2017
I know CPUs arent a big deal for a lot of people these days but surely you guys cant be serious. Unless these are like $20 its going to be hard to be swayed over to AMDs side
>>55946337
>haswell
It'll be Ivy /Sandy bridge with ddr4.
So yes, in real world it'll be haswell tier performance with higher power consumption and heat output.
>>55946337
Well looking at performance increases for intel(5% for a generation),getting haswell performance for a whole lot cheaper is going to be great. It should be just good enough to make intel pay atention to AMD again .
>>55946337
I would suck dick through a straw for an affordable i7-4790. I might actually have an excuse to ditch my aging i7-2600k.
1. USB Type C is an open standard.
2. USB Type C is can be used to transmit audio.
3. USB Type C is more robust than 3.5 mm.
4. USB Type C can be used for more than audio (video, power, internet, data)
5. You can charge and listen to music through speakers or with a Bluetooth headset.
6. There are USB type C hubs.
6. You guys are fucking retarded. I remember these same discussions about virtually any outdated media and port in the past.
The future is here, embrace it or get the fuck out of this tech enthusiast board.
And no I'm not an Applefag, I just want more thin phones and not 1000 different one purpose cable for my computer.
apple doesn't use usb c on their iphones
USB-C is nice and convenient. Having to use a hub just to connect two common peripherals at the same time is stupid. Bluetooth is still shit.
And the iPhone 7 will almost certainly use Lightning, so I don't understand the point of this post.
>>55946316
A 3.5mm headphone jack is significantly cheaper than a USB-C port, MUX and DSP with both USB phy and an audio DAC.
Jesus christ hiroshima, this has got to be some malware. Why are you putting this on the front page.

Newfags, that's who. They deserve it.
GTX 970 performance for $160
>AMD IS BANGRUPT AND FINISHED

>1060 is about to be released
>TOTALLY GOING TO BE 980 PERFORMANCE FOR 250$ GUYS
>released, ends up being 300$ for being barely 15% better than a 480
Not falling for this shilling again.
>>55946214
>$300
This is in stock. No backorders.
Add to cart and complete purchase for less than $280, aftermarket gtx 1060. No bullshit necessary.

Do you even know what you're saying?
So we blew all our money on a new TV and of course the sound is shit.
I need the cheapest option for passable sound. It's in the living room and it's going to be for stupid kids shows mostly so I don't care as long as it sounds OK.
Do I get a soundbar or some 2.1 setup? The leddit site says to buy some shit tier amp and shit tier speakers. Thing is, we spent like 400 bucks on it and I'm not feeling 100+ dollar audio for playing JAKE AND THE NEVERLAND PIRATES all day.
JBL stuff
I'm pretty sure the TV sound will be just fucking fine. If you really must have a sound system then I'd say go for 2.1. Sound bars are definitely more than 100(at least for the non super shit ones).
>>55946083
You're expecting to get good sound out of a $20 setup?
You can find ten year old $800 5.1 receivers for $50 on CL all day. Then the only issue is a couple good speakers.
What are you doing right now, /g?

Linux is trash created to hurd the brilliant young minds in computing into a giant wasteful clusterfuck of an operating system.
To prevent an actual OS alternative.
To prevent computing technology from veering offf into something truly spectacular.
How else do you explain all of the brilliance and effort and will pissed away on that tremendous fucking failure of an operating system that should have been seen as a sinking ship and a f fucking sham decades ago.
And who exactly forces the thousands of volunteers working on Linux OS's worldwide into this masterful scheme?
What alternatives do you propose? That beautiful, elegant and bugfree OS that rhymes with 'widows'?
Looks like someone couldn't install gentoo
Hello /g/, I have a couple questions for you today. I've seen that after the new anniversary update a bunch of cool shit was added to Wangblows 10 like magically running Linux applications (gcc for example) natively and that it magically improved performance in badly optimized gaymes. I currently run Windows 7 Enterprise edition with no updates installed since 2011 since I think they're all botnet. Now, here are my questions:
>Should I just upgrade from Windows 7 or perform a clean install?
>Are there any plausible advantages (speed or otherwise) over Windows 7?
>Is it heavier or lighter than Windows 7?
>Can the spyware be totally and completely removed until it contains about as much spyware as Windows 7 does?
>Last time I installed the Windows 10 technical preview (or whatever it was called) it just seemed like some monkey shat out a combination of Windows 7 code and windowed versions of Windows 8 ui, is that still so?
>Last time I installed I also noticed that the settings weren't all in once place (that is, the control panel in Windows 7) but were fractured among a bunch of different retarded settings application, some of them using metro
>Can metro be completely removed?
>How good is the Linux compatibility? Does it run without issues? Can I use bash on it?
>inb4 tech support
Just trying to start a discussion on if it is worth it or not.
who fucking cares
I aunt reading all that Shit, but you always want to do a fresh install

Why does Firefox let itself get slowed down by websites? Is it really this shit?
I very rarely have this problem because I use Noscript in whitelist mode. I've never had this problem as a result of ad networks clogging my Firefox with ad scripts.

random deep thoughts while listening to T.R.A.M. and thinking about Computer Science:
>everything is controlled by computer science
>demand for computer science way up
>Global warming: tragedy of the commons problem. Something requires individual sacrifice even though downstream benefits are shared.
>Bitcoin solves the tragedy of the commons problem.
>Bitcoin in and of itself solves the tragedy of the commons problem.
>The problem it solves is we (as miners) give up electricity in exchange for downstream benefits.
>The problem could possibly be solved recursively as well
>We (as bitcoin holders) give up (bitcoin) in exchange for certain downstream benefits.
>I think this in essence "proof of stake."
>Who decides what those downstream benefits are?
>That's up to "us."
>Who is "us"?
>Who holds most of the Bitcoin? The bitcoin holders.
>Lol so much circular logic it's hilarious
>Okay what about people who don't hold Bitcoin?
>They can buy some from me?
>Isn't that a pyrmid scheme?
>No, because mathematical proofs are what solve the fundamental problem.
>Are mathematical proofs infallable?
>I think that is what proof means.
>Well, shit... That's true...
Cont...
>>55945581
(cont...)
>How does that make it not a pyramid scheme still? Who's benefitting most here?
>Well, I guess whoever started this whole thing. Satoshi Nakamoto? But they haven't spent any of their Bitcoin.
>And even still, it solves the mathematical principle.
>Okay, but... it solves it but... then... He's still benefitting most right?
>Is he?
>Well, no...? He's not...
>He could at any moment sell a bunch
>Okay, so what's the problem?
>He makes a bunch of money for doing what? using some electricity?
>He does so much more than "use electricity"
>He has turned "that electricity" into now how many billions and maybe even trillions of dollars?
>How is that not deserving?
>Maybe I don't value the dollar as much as other currencies?
>Why not?
>Why does the dollar have to have value?
>What do you mean?
>I can make my own cryptocurrency using Ethereum
>It can have most of the functionality money has today... actually quite a lot more
>It solves a fundamental problem, by the way: global warming. That problem that is going to destroy the world, you know?
>I think people with a lot of money have a lot at stake here. They have the whole world in their hands. If they had a tool to join people together financially under a common goal... that would be huge...
>That would change how every job industry works
>Yeah, I guess it would...
(cont...)
>>55945620
>You're crazy
>Hey they said that Steve Jobs was crazy but look at smart phones
>First they ignore you
>then they laugh at you
>then they fight you
>then you win
>Reality is already here. The mathematical problem is solved. How long will it take for people to come
together and solve it? I guess however long it takes for people to get involved in computer science
>Well what if it's not possible to get the whole world interested in computer science and math?
>Then I guess we are doomed...?
>How can we reach people who aren't interested in computer science and math?
>User experience...
>APPLE, Google, Android, Open Source, Github, Smart Phones
>Fuuuuck
>We have all our users here! Video games! Augmented reality! Pokemon Go!
>We have our data points.
>There are many big computer science industries interested in data
>I'm part of a company that is changing the world.
>I want to post this anonymously because I feel too embarrassed to tell my peers
I sound like a high person...
Maybe I'm just too high so I'm not able to form a nuanced opinion?
Hello /g/ recently i've been struggling learning c++ i've been learning from thenewboston's channel any other good c++ video tutorials?
>>55945451
Why do you need a video tutorial?
It's not like watching some Pajeet type the code himself is going to help you.
I suggest you read some text tutorial (cplusplus.com is nice) and just make some stuff on your own.
Practice is the best way to learn.
Step 1: Go to Amazon
Step 2: Buy a used C++ book that Uni professors use
Step 3: Read it
Don't use a fucking youtube video
>>55945451
>>55945493
+1 for this
cplusplus.com is bae even after you've learned C++. It has a great interface for finding STL methods, their dependencies, etc.
