Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>sneaky bastards will try to convince you into believing that cheating can be evaded, it can't and you will be banned with those bastards laughing at you
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned
>don't respond to anime posters, they are known to ruin threads and shitpost, report and ignore.

Based on the number of /v/-tier threads that's probably true. Windows user group should be banned from posting.

Still gets better performance than .net
I keep hearing people say that amd is going to die and should die on this board. Im going to explain why that's a bad thing to happen in the computer industry.
Im just going to talk about the processor part of this because that's where the most damage in the industry would happen.
Back when in the early 80s intel made the x86 processor instruction set that we see modern desktop and laptop processors run on. Intel has only licensed out the instruction set to one other company to act as a back up manufacture of there processors. That company was AMD. Eventually AMD gave the middle finger to intel, and started making its own processors and starting a competition with intel that we see to this day.
Now what will happen if Amd dies will be a bad thing for the consumer. Intel will probably buy out amd and at that point intel would have a monopoly on the market. They could raise prices on there products, have bad products altogether and buggy drivers. And we would have to deal with it. No one else would have the license for the x86 instruction set. And intel would probably never license it out again seeing how it originally bit them in the ass. It would be a bad time all around. I know i sound like a AMD fan boy, but im not. I prefer nivida gpus and intels cpus. Im just saying how this would wreck the industry all around.
AMD isn't anywhere near bankruptcy, and they aren't being bought out by anyone. They're not going away.
Stop listening to shitposters.
> amd dead lul
Its a meme, amd is in its best shape since years.
It wont die for a long time if they dont fuck up something real bad.
>>56178020
Its only the absolute worst Nvidiots that say this shit. Don't worry, AMD ain't dying.
Stocks are up over 330% from what they had been not too long ago.
Is 1440p worth it or is it just a meme?
>>56177998
stop caring about what other faggots say, if you want it just go ahead.
>>56177998
If surfing and shitposting is the extent of your computer usage, no, probably not. You'd probably be fine with 1024x768.
If on the other hand you do any kind of work or multitask at a mentionable level, yes, it's definitely worth it. Doubly so because 2560x1440 is the only common 16:9 resolution that's not anemic in terms of vertical space.
The problem with increased resolution is the entire software ecosystem is totally fucked for the foreseeable futute and nobody seems to give a shit that technological advancement and thus their well being is shoe stringed by it

Come on, Anon. Don't you want unprecedented, distraction-free flexibility and efficiency? Don't you want to be able to pipe the output of one program to the input of another without having to use a mouse to copy and paste between clunky windows? Don't you like being able to easily automate everything?
It's easy, I swear! The basics take a week to memorize, at most. From there on out it's the same principle for every program you install for the CLI.
This isn't just a Linux or BSD thing, either. Mac is obviously very command line friendly, and powershell on Windows is nice too.
It's 2016. Time to take your working capability to the next level.

go away

There is NO reason why one should delete systemd from his system. There is nothing systemd can't do what other init systems can.

Background?
>>56178147
How many years until human drivers are made illegal?
It will take 10 years or so before all brands offer automatic cars.
Then another 15 years until everyone has such a car.
So it will take at least 25 years.
But as a legalbro I'm not 100% sure it will happen. Because somebody has to be responsible with accents. And it sure as hell are not going to be the car or navigation manufacturers. Or perhaps they will get some massive insurance for it.

Considering that recent news story of a dude who was decapitated by a truck after he set his car to autopilot, I'd say we've got a while to go yet.
Please help me.

I work at a uni, doing IT for our libraries.
Mint on my desktop, rest are a collection of work/server stations with various flavors of OS. We're avoiding Win 10 for as long as possible.
One day, we will have our server closet like pic related. One goddamn day.
Fedora 25 will run Wayland by default, in place of Xorg
Finally a display protocol as good as systemd.
Xorg can slowly die :)
