Back into electrical engineering.

Last time I was there I failed everything. I couldn't make use of my notes, I couldn't concentrate and focus on lectures, I had bad prints of my scripts, I didn't know how to manage my time, I didn't make any contacts or friends and I just faded out of life at the end.

Only tech I had at the time was a dumb phone and an old PC in my room back home. And I had to commute over 2 hours every day because my dad didn't let me stay in the city.

Any gadgets I could get that would make my life easier this time? I have a good smartphone now so that's a start.

What made your life easier in college? Any general advice I could use?

I figure this is the right board to ask this question.

I'm a pleb currently learning python in an online class and I have decided that I would like to learn more languages for career purposes. After graduation, I plan to work in environmental engineering. To help me get a job, I am considering learning Java and C or C++.

Do you have any suggestions of what would be the best languages to learn to help me in the environmental engineering firms, or at least some reading material to determine what would be the best languages to teach myself? Also, what is the most effective way of teaching myself how to code? Should I buy a "How to Code" manual off Amazon?

If the anonymous collective hivemind worked together to develop a new OS, what would it look like?

How would the code be licensed: GPL-style, BSD-style, or some kind of contrarian go-fuck-yourself license?

What would the kernel look like: monolithic (Linux, BSD), hybrid (HURD), microkernel (Minix3, L4)? Would it be forked or would we develop our own?

Sometimes when I haven't turned off my computer in a long while my cursor "sticks" to things, as if the mouse is stuck in making a click. For example, after switching to a tab in my browser my cursor is still stuck so it thinks I want to move the tab.
After reboot it works perfectly again, so it has to be software.
